PDF Editor FAQ

What schools accepted/rejected you (April 2020)?

I am an international student who basically needs a full ride. My sat is 1460, subjects 780 (math II) and 700 (physics). My TOEFL was 106. I applied to a physics and arts double major. I studied in a weak school from 9th to 11th grade and then got a scholarship to do 12th in one of the most prestigious schools of my state. My ECs are: founding a girls club about gender equality and sex education / being a watercolor artist and painting more than 70+ pieces / founding an annual event on Women's Day at my school with 300+ attendants / studying online everyday through an online course as my school had a low level and I wanted to compensate for it / YYGS / Latin American Leadership Academy / being leader of some projects at school / tutoring math and physics at school / tutoring physics online (I guess this is it).I have some scientific national medals, but nothing major. My recommendations were great, I think. I really like my essays too, I worked A LOT on them and also had help from friends and a counselor. I spent like 3 months on my personal statement and one month on supplements. I wrote about my family and my life story through my passion for physics and arts on my PS, finished talking about how I want to work with education (I know it doesn't make a lot of sense written like that, but it does in the essay). Wrote about my passion for gender equality and for education on some supplemental essays.I was rejected by: Bates, Swarthmore, Amherst, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Conn College, Lehigh, Williams, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Harvard, Yale (was deferred on REA), and Vassar.I was waitlisted by: Rhodes, Grinnell, Hamilton, Bryn Mawr, Yale-NUS, and Tufts.I was “only" accepted by Dartmouth College. Some of these rejections or waitlists were probably because I am an international student who needs a full ride. At Dartmouth, I was named a King Scholar, which will pay for the full cost of my undergraduate education, including flight tickets. I will even receive money to study there.Yes, when they say to you that application is a lottery, it really is. I had already lost hope as I had received 10 rejections and 5 waitlists before Ivy Day. I guess that Dartmouth saw something in me that others schools didn't, and I am really happy for that. I am really excited about attending Dartmouth, as I believe it was my top 2 choice (only behind Harvard, as I realized I had no fit with Yale after applying early). I really feel I have a strong fit with Dartmouth, as I love liberal arts colleges and small cities.

What are good examples of gamification in business?

A couple (of many many examples)AccentureAccenture wanted to increase adoption of their social and collaborative platform (SharePoint) . They noticed that there was a correlation between the number of customized user profiles and the amount of internal collaboration. Initially they ran an internal competition to encourage users to customize their profiles. They then developed an employee recognition system that gave users points and badges for certain activities, such as rating content and blogging. Users were also given badges that could be displayed on their public profiles. The top 100 bloggers were also added to a public leaderboard. They found that this combination of gamification ideas increased the usage of their internal systems.DeloitteEnterprise Social Media Gamified - Case Study - Deloitte Who-What-WhereThey wanted a way to connect their workforce together, so that they could share their knowledge no matter where they were on the globe and so that they were less likely to miss important information. Using a combination of enterprise social media platform, Yammer, their own geo location system Who, What, Where and Badgeville’s mobile SDK – they created a mobile application that rewarded their consultants for “checking in”. This allowed them to share who they were with, what they were there for and where they were.Rewards and reputation were then showcased for all to see, including managers and executives. The results?According to Deloitte they have seen an increase in knowledge sharing, and crucially “Better alignment between the company and its employees, reducing turnover”. Leadership Academy - Deloitte Leadership AcademyThe Deloitte Leadership Academy is an executive training program that Deloitte has rolled out to more than 50,000 executives. Their business challenge was to encourage busy executives to take the time to go through the training available. They have again used the Badgeville platform to embed gamification mechanics into the whole of the website. Using things such as missions, rewards, rank, status and more they have been able to greatly impact the usage of the site. The results?Taken directly from the case study:Increased User Retention46.6% increase in the number of users that return to DLA daily36.3% increase in the number of users that return to DLA weeklyActive User Engagement and AdoptionAn average of 3 achievements unlocked per active userTop users have earned as many as 30 achievements already

When do I start applying for the naval academy?

Application begins long before you actually apply. In your second year of high school you should already be making it known to your potential sources of nomination that you desire to attend Annapolis. They normally will advise you of the procedures and lead times they require. You should be establishing your academic, leadership, and athletic records long before that.

CocoDoc cuts out the need for printing, signing and scanning documents, which means it saves me an my clients a lot of time. It's simple to use and the interface is easy to navigate. I like the fact that you can store signatures to use at different times. I also like how you simply include the details of the people you need a signature from and CocoDoc does it for you. The reminder feature is also helpful as it means I don't need to chase anyone.
