ICD or International Classification of Diseases is a standardized list of various diagnoses and reasons for healthcare visits. Each diagnosis/purpose has an alpha-numeric code.Payers need to know what the diagnosis/problem/purpose of the healthcare encounter is. Having plain text can be confusing and ambiguous. For this reason, payers insist that claim forms must carry the diagnosis code or ICD.

A2A.I didn't study Ayurveda.So probably,I am not the right person to answer that question.However,I haven't come across any published research in internationally acclaimed medical journals to support this belief of Ayurveda curing cancer.It is true that Ayurveda is more about prevention of cancer and supports healing of body from side effects of chemo/radiotherapy.But “curing cancer”,I am yet to see any published evidence supporting the same.And,we do come across many cases,who first go to self-acclaimed Ayurveda practitioners (most of such people lack any actual degree in Ayurveda and claim 100% cure), and unfortunately their disease progress taking such ayurvedic treatments and by the time they come to us,the disease is already advanced and chances of cure decrease.My advice- As an educated person, before accepting any form of treatment, should ask for “evidence”.Ask for real evidence i.e. data supporting “cure” claim rates.Don't accept statements like,I have cured so may patients.Ask that you want to meet those patients who were successfully treated and actually see their papers showing that they got cured only with Ayurveda.And ask ,the Ayurveda doctor what degree do they have in Ayurveda? And ,where is the research published (in which international medical journals) to support their claims of cure?If there is enough evidence ,one may accept their proposed treatment,but just believing what they say(they have treated many patients or they know someone who got treated) - such statements aren't more important than patients' lives.So, choose wisely!!!
