At Oxford and Cambridge, the lowest ranked doctorate is the Doctor of Philosophy (Dphil or PhD) which has only been in existence for the past 100 years or less. I guess it’s a tie between Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets.Ride the Lightning showed a huge difference in Metallica’s style. Kill ’Em All was a pretty raw album that was immature and was heavily influenced by Punk and the NWOBHM bands. RTL showed the band’s maturity, and while Cliff Burton was the only one who had knowledge of Music Theory, he later educated the rest. RTL was fast, it was aggressive, but comparatively more intricate than Kill ’Em All. A very similar case with Slayer, as they had a huge difference in style between Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits.While RTL was fast-paced and aggressive album, Master of Puppets was Metallica’s first effort into experimentation. RTL was pure thrash, MoP was more of Progressive Thrash. There were comparatively slower tracks that focused more on the groove (Leper Messiah), songs that had unusual time signatures (The Thing That Should Not Be, Welcome Home), typical aggressive thrash tracks (Battery, Master of Puppets, Disposable Heroes, Damage Inc.) and intricate instrumental track (Orion).Metallica continued their experimentation in their fourth album, And Justice For All, which was pretty damn heavy <insert some Bass joke here>.Overall, RTL and MoP ties as Metallica’s best albums.

To be perfectly honest:—If I told you the M.A. in Music Education is a waste of time and an unneeded hardship for $50,000, then you’re going to get upset. You’ll then have to ask what gives me the right to say Music Education is just a tiny part of education.If I told you the M.A. was okay because it’s clearly what you want for your career, then I’ll be sad that you’ll be lumbered with $100k in education debt for one of the degree that shouldn’t have been done.
