PDF Editor FAQ

Is it cheaper to run Google Office over Microsoft Office in business?

In cash cost, Google's G Suite product, also called Apps and Docs/Sheets/Slides, is much cheaper. If you only need basic functionality, G Suite is a good value. It's perfectly fine for writing basic documents and doing basic calculations. If you need advanced functionality, Office is well worth the money. Many businesses have an Excel spreadsheet as their primary intellectual property. Word is far more suitable for creating complex, publication-ready content. If you spend all day in email and calendar, Outlook is light years beyond Gmail. If you don't think you need Office, you probably don't. But if your company is bigger than about 50 people, at least one of them probably depends on a feature that's only available in Microsoft Office.

Why doesn't anyone compete with Microsoft and create a new, better Microsoft Office Suite?

The thing is, as much as people complain about Microsoft software, what actually would we improve about Microsoft Office? It's hard to come up with something, really. Not only that, you're not just competing with MS Office, you're competing against the free OpenOffice. I used to use OpenOffice all the time, but eventually moved to Microsoft Office when they launched Office 365, where you pay a monthly fee. It says something about MS Office that there is an alternative which doesn't cost anything, and I'll still choose to pay for MS Office. Finally, it's also an absolute ton of work, only for big teams with a lot of skill and money. It's easy to get caught up in talk of amazing engineering teams of Facebook or whatever, but what would you fancy your chances better at writing, Facebook? Or Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook? It's a herculean task, which makes a website like Facebook, Quora, or even Google seem trivial by comparison.Far too much work, competition from an extremely established player, and competition from a free product. It's not a good place to be.

What all Microsoft products do you use in your daily life?

Three years back when my son gifted me this laptop it came with windows 10 installed in it. As an offer Microsoft office was also given along with the OS.I use Excel for daily domestic work like analyzing bank statements, preparing check lists of monthly groceries, medicines etc.I don’t use word or power point much.I also use Skype to have video chat with my son and family once in a week.I also use Outlook for email. That’s all.

It was easy to load and sign documents. I like the features a little. I like the trial to use and practice with to sign and send out documents to sign and ease of coming back.
