Is a podcast like an interview?

A podcast is certain forms of media (audio, video, or documents like PDF) distributed via an RSS feed (which an app/browser can read/play/view).This means a podcast could ‘contain’ an interview, and many do. Interviews are a very common podcast format, usually in audio. But, there are also many solo podcasts, group-conversation podcasts, and purely informational podcasts, etc. For example, while rare, a podcast episode *could* be a camping checklist in the form of a PDF file.I’ve never really seen a breakdown, but the most common formats are the solo podcast and interview podcast. I would guess solo podcasts are more common, but the interview format certainly ranks highly.Basically, think of a podcast as a new(er) broadcast type medium. For example, replace your question with some more traditional ones, like TV or radio. If you said, “Is TV like an interview?” or “Is radio like an interview?” the answers would be similar. Yes, many times when you turn on the TV or radio, you’ll see/hear an interview, but you might also find a LOT of other kinds of content.Question answered: "Is a podcast like an interview?"

What should I pack in my earthquake preparedness kit?

I would check out the FEMA recommendations below. I partially grew up in California and my dad was in the Bay Area in ’89 and 5 miles from Northridge in ‘94, and I currently live in a hurricane prone area and previously lived in Miami. The after affects of any natural disaster are pretty similar. Electricity will most likely be off, roads may be temporarily impassable, water and sewer may not be available, ATM’s and credit cards may not be working but that may not matter too much because stores may not be open for a few days anyway.Water is the absolute most important thing. I see FEMA recommends 1 gallon per person per day for 3 days but I’d stock up on more. Water’s not super expensive and you’ll be happy you have it. Just keep an eye on how long you’ve had the water and cycle it in and out but drinking some of the older stuff.Stock up on canned and other shelf stable foods. I always keep an extra canister of gas for my gas grill and charcoal for my charcoal grill. You might not have electricity, and you most likely will not have natural gas because that gets shut down right away, but you can use your grill to heat canned foods up, boil water for coffee (get a french press for coffee or some instant granules) or even things like pasta. That extra water comes in handy for cooking. When the electricity goes out start cooking up all of the perishable items in your refrigerator first.Shelf stable milk and cereal are very easy. You may want to buy some paper plates that you don’t have to wash. Sure, it’s not as environmentally friendly but that’s not your main concern after a disaster.Camping equipment can come in pretty handy. Tents, sleeping bags, camping grills, knives, waterproof matches, water purification systems and tablets and all of the other things that allow you to sleep outside. Depending on the severity of the quake you may not be able to stay in your house if there’s questions of structural integrity, and sleeping in your car quickly gets old.Think about things specific to you and your family. Make sure you have baby food, pet food, prescription medicines, and whatever else you specifically may need and make sure you keep it stocked. Don’t let the gas in your car get close to empty and keep some extra cash at home. You should have this anyway, but make sure you have a first aid kit and don’t dip into it for every day things like band-aids.Fill up your sinks, bath tubs, and any buckets with water as soon as possible if the water is still working. You may not want to drink it but it comes in handy to wash up and you can flush a toilet by pouring water down it. And stick to the saying “if it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down.” Stay stocked up on toilet paper and paper towels. Get a battery operated radio to stay up to date on the news. There’s a good chance you won’t have tv service or internet. This seems like a lot but it’s really not too bad and you get used to always having supplies on hand.Build A Kit | Ready.govBuild A KitMake sure your emergency kit is stocked with the items on the checklist below.
