My husband is.In 2008, while I was married to my first husband (and miserable) he knew exactly what to do and say to get me to let my guard down. He made a lot of promises to care for me, no questions asked, love me like I’ve never been loved, be there for me whenever I needed him and I could have free reign to do whatever my heart’s desire if only I would give him a chance. He would come by for months asking if I needed anything or could he help me with anything and then finally, when everything was just right for me to lose my mind and I was at my most vulnerable, he made his move.It was my birthday and my ex-husband and children did not bother to acknowledge it in any way or even wish me a “Happy Birthday”. I was hurt to say the least. As much as I did for them. Always being a good person, wife, and mom…well….you get the picture….I was sad, feeling sorry for myself, and never in my life did I want to get away from them more. That’s when my (current) husband made his move:S, “Lisa, I need you to come meet me in the parking lot of the doctor’s office.”Lisa, “well, I’m babysitting….”S, “that’s fine. Bring her.”I bring the baby up to the doctor’s office and there S is. Looking cute and holding a gift. He gets in my car (I did not ask him to) and says very enthusiastically, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!” I had not revealed to him the sad treatment I had received from my family. I say “thank you” and he acknowledges the baby very sweetly. This is when he hands me a beautiful card and a nice gift. The only card and the only gift I received and I was sad, vulnerable, and feeling sorry for myself….you get the picture.Almost 10 years later I am still with him and still miserable. He kept absolutely ZERO of his promises. As a matter of fact he was (and still is) incredibly cruel. People do not make you happy. They can only bring you joy temporarily. Never put your life in someone else’s hands other wise you’ll end up like me with a horrible love-life praying to God for (yet another) way out.

Shortly after graduating from college, I asked a friend out on a date. She was single and extremely attractive, but several years older than I was….what today might be termed a “cougar”.Without missing a beat, she replied “I'm sorry, but I don't do babysitting.”

As an adult i can sympathize for your daughters needs especially at an age of 13 where many 13 year olds are experiencing the joys of life whether it’s saving up for a new cell phone or going camping with friends in which all these things cost money and whether a child of that age has some type of part-time job either delivering papers or babysitting he or she may have to rely on the goodwill of their parents. The fact that your daughter is asking for money to babysit s a positive thing as this shows that she is thinking independently and responsibly and not just expecting to get money for nothing simply because you’re her parent and it’s expected for parents to provide for their children, but at the same time teach them responsibility. It may be a good idea, instead of just handing her the money but for you to sit down with her and discuss money management skills with her. Set up a plan where the money is divided into categories to be set aside for things like a College or a University degree, money aside for place to live, items she may want to purchase in the future, and spending money. When shes of that age where she feels responsible enough to move out she will have the money for things like a car, College and residence.
