PDF Editor FAQ

What is it like to be super amazing in college and a failure in real life afterwards?

Many people who are smart in school have the brains to go somewhere, be someone and do remarkable things. When you talk to them, you will realize that even they want to do great things but yet they live a mediocre life.Success for me is “increased capacity to contribute to the world around you.” Smart people have a special responsibility to be successful and make this world a better place. Why? Because they can. Here are a few reasons why some people succeed in school and fail woefully in life:Life is (quite) different outside the sandbox:It all starts at school. When people get good grades atschool, they are considered smart. Except that school is a “sandbox” environment where the penalty for making mistakes is very low. In some schools and exam systems, memorization is given a huge premium -meaning the person who can memorize the best is considered the smartest. They don’t say it that way but the exams are designed to test someone’s memorization skill rather than testing what they have learned. The marketplace is very different from the school. It is nothing close to a sandbox. The rules that work in the marketplace are very different from the rules that work in the sandbox. In fact, there are very few rules that work in the marketplace. It will take a while for many “sandbox smarts” to graduate to “marketplace smarts.Their risk appetite may be low:In school, following the rules helped them get good grades. In the marketplace, following the rules to the dot will help them lead a “successful” life at best. In average cases, it will lead them to lead a mediocre life. At the center, you are safe but there is no premium. At the edges, there is less safety but the chances of getting a premium is high. In a “safe” or sandbox environment there was no need to take big risks. In fact, taking risks would not be rewarded.Their past success may become a baggage:They say success begets success. But they never said “sandbox success” will beget “marketplace success.” In fact, success begets success only when you are willing to adapt to the new situations very RAPIDLY. What worked in their past gives them a feeling that following what made them successful in the past will make them successful in the future. Not knowing they need help:In a “sandbox” environment, there was not a big requirement for teamwork. They were able to win the game with a solo act. It worked OK then. Unfortunately, the marketplace requires a bigger push – requiring a larger set of resources to be in play. The first step towards that is to realize that they need “more help” to succeed in the marketplace. Even if they have the skills to complete everything on their own “individually” trying to do everything on their own will be futile. It will have the same effect as an one-man orchestra performance will have.Reasons Why People Fail In Life (And How To Succeed Instead)They don’t planImprovised living will give you unexpected results. You will always have a better chance to succeed in any venture if you have a plan. By forming a simple plan, former non-planners will increase their rate of success. When you make your plan, be sure it’s specific. Don’t say, “I’m going to exercise tomorrow.” Say, “I’m taking the red van to the YMCA at 3 PM tomorrow to complete a 35 minute leg workout, starting with squats.” Having a complete vision of your intentions prepares you to execute them and you’ll be more likely to flatten obstacles in your way. I’m not just saying that. It’s been proven to be more effective. They try to climb a mountain before they even leave the houseFor 2015, my goal is to do one push-up per day. One push-up a day is easy, but it doesn’t get you very far. The value comes from starting. In other words, I rarely stop at one push-up and I often get a solid 30 minute workout from it. I am never intimidated by the challenge, even when I’m sick or tired. This one tiny step helps me bridge the gap between couch and exercise. When you aim high, intimidation is common, and that puts your goal at risk. If my goal was 50 push-ups a day, I would have failed at times and gotten discouraged. Sometimes I do 50 push-ups a day with my “too easy” challenge, and I don’t ever feel discouraged. This is more relevant for daily tasks and goals than long term dreams. Don’t dream to be a mediocre person. Dream big, but break that dream down into small, daily actions that inch you closer to it every day.Lesson: One tiny step forward beats one giant leap sideways.A single battle distracts them from the warIt is disappointing to lose any battle. Sometimes it’s devastating. If your business fails, if your book or script is rejected, if you don’t make the basketball team, it’s tough to be positive. But the war is not over, is it? If your business fails, won’t you know several key things NOT to do next time? Objectively, it’s a highly useful learning experience.Make sure you’re not one of the many people who attach their identity to a submarine. If you mentally attach your identity and your chance to succeed to your business, and your business fails… ouch. Your really cool submarine is destroyed, and you’re stuck 1000 feet under water. Instead, why not see your business as a ship that could possibly take you where you’d like to go. That way, if it sinks, you can jump overboard and still join a pirate crew.Don’t view your business or current life pursuit as a submarine. If it fails, you’ll drown in disappointment. View it as a ship, preferably with lifeboats. What’s that? Yes, I know submarines are cooler. Oh, you’d like your submarine painted to look like a shark? Fine. You may view your business as a submarine shark. The optimal strategy in life is to focus on winning the battle you’re in. I think most of us get this step right, but miss the next crucial one.In real war, conditions and scenarios are altered after a battle. Both sides have gained intel about the other side’s firepower and tactics, and both sides have lost men. This calls for a modified strategy, which means zooming out for a broader view of the war.Immediately after you receive that rejection letter, re-strategize for your “war.” Are you going to edit your book and submit it to a new publisher? Are you going to self-publish it as is? Are you going to use the same strategy until you strike gold? The most successful leaders in the history of warfare were the ones who could modify their strategy quickly, decidedly, and strategically. Do you do the same in your life?Even if you win a battle, you can lose ground in the war by not anticipating and preparing for the next battle. Life is full of battles, and the key is not letting any single battle distract you from your main objective in your “war” – living how you want to live.Lesson: If you’re not currently in battle or have just finished (an event), zoom out your focus to determine the current best strategy, then zoom back in and prepare for your next battle. They’re pessimistsIf you go in expecting to fail, you’ve got a great chance to do it. If I expected deep existence to wear me out, be unpopular, and waste my time, why would I write this? Pessimism leads to failure because it decreases the amount of effort a person will put forth. Success requires effort, which is fueled by the perspective that your efforts are not in vain.Lesson: You instinctively hesitate to invest in a sinking ship, even if you’re the one sinking it.They’re scaredFear must be cold, because it freezes people. Deer are famous for freezing right before a car hits them. Like that situation, freezing in place isn’t a smart strategy in life.Progress paves the the way to success. If it takes 10,000 hours to master something (as Malcolm Gladwell suggests) and fear makes us do nothing, then fear needs to go. Face your fears head on and you’ll find success right behind them. Overcoming fear is success in itself, and it opens the door for more.Lesson: Fear is failure’s not-so-secret weapon.Bonus tip: Fear itself is afraid of the spotlight. Get into the habit of confronting it, and soon enough, it will be afraid of YOUExcusesThey blame anyone and everything but themselves“If she didn’t … If I wasn’t living here… If the economy… If that hadn’t happened…”Blaming others, while a lousy thing to do, isn’t even the problem – it’s the poisoned perspective it reveals! Do you know what it really means?Excuses and throwing blame are the same way of saying, “I’m not in control.” Now that’s scary.Excuses feel good temporarily, but don’t be fooled, they can only hurt you. Accept full responsibility for where you are, and you’ll have a chance to change it for the better.Lesson: You are the only variable you can control in this world. They’re in the wrong placeSometimes failure is simply a matter of location – the wrong country, the wrong state, the wrong job, the wrong hobby. This is the tricky aspect of failure – knowing when to move on to something else. Not all people are capable of success in all things.Right now, there is someone doing a mediocre job at work, who could be world class in another field. Is it you? This is a good reason to experiment and try different things – you might latch on to something and love it enough to succeed with it.Lesson: If a fish and a human switch places, they will both die of suffocation. Location matters. They don’t careObviously, if you don’t care about doing it well, you won’t. Apathy can infect any area of our lives, and when it strikes, it produces bucketfuls of failure. The scariest part of apathy is how contagious it is. You’ll have it in one area of life, feel the resulting failure, and let it spread to another area. Or your apathetic friends will rub off on you. This is one more reason to experiment and try different things – to ward off apathy. The more excited about your life and the possibilities to explore, the better! Apathy can often lead to the worst-case scenario of human life. That worst-case scenario is next on the list as the number one reason for failure, and it’s the saddest thing you’ll ever see in a human being.Lesson: The more you care, the more you’ll succeed. They give upIt crushes me to see it – a human being full of potential…giving up. Suicide is the ultimate expression of giving up, and in my opinion it is life’s most tragic event. We all have a place in this world, and suicide is giving up before you find it.Giving up isn’t always so obvious. It can be the guy in the cubicle making 90k a year, who has been slowly drained of his vigor for life, accepting misery because it’s bundled with a nice paycheck. It might be the popular girl in class, who secretly hates herself for being fake and not having any real friends, feeling hopelessly trapped by the facade she’s created. Anybody you see could be giving up in some area of their life.If you’ve ever seen someone you love give up on their dream or struggle, even temporarily, you know of the sinking feeling you get. Giving up is the number one reason people fail because it is the only permanent failure. As long as you are actively trying, you have not failed yet. But once you give up, success will not arrive unexpectedly. You can have the worst strategy and focus on all of the wrong things, but as long as you keep trying, you will learn and have hope. That is an important truth.Failure happens; none of us escape unblemished. But for every single person who has ever lived, the secret of life is an unflinching, inspiring little phrase that has shaped nations, bought freedom, saved lives, and fulfilled so many dreams...NEVER GIVE UP:)Sources: 9 Reasons People Fail In Life (And How To Succeed Instead): http://www.rajeshsetty.com/2010/03/29/9-reasons-why-many-smart-people-go-nowhere/

Who is your number one waifu?

This list is in no particular order and is just being made up as I go.Akatsuki - Log Horizon: This badass ninja is loyal to Master Shiroe, has a decent character arc, and has some pretty cute moments. I normally don't go for loli characters, but she's an exception. Also, she's voiced by Jad Saxton, so that also comes into play.Teng Rou - The King's Avatar: Some people might not consider this choice a thing because it's a Chinese production and therefore they don't see it as anime, but this is my answer and therefore my opinion about anime is being expressed here. Anyways, Teng Rou is an employee at the internet cafe the main protagonist works at. After suffering defeat at the hands of the King Ye Xiu, she vows to find a way to beat him at the game Glory. She's a stern kind of person but she does have feelings, and she'll definitely improve as the series progresses. Bonus mention goes to Ye Xiu's old time friend Su Mucheng.Beldandy - Ah, My Goddess: Such a precious cinnamon roll. Beldandy is kind and filled with positive energy, although sometimes seeming a bit naive of the world around her. Nevertheless, she's still one of those kind-hearted protagonists who loves her family and will do anything for them.Tohru - Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: She's the perfect blend of sweet, sadistic, and hard-working in the show. While her more thicc friend definitely gets a lot of love (believe me, I see why), Tohru is just a bit more to my liking. Also, do not lewd the dragon loli. Just don't.Juvia - Fairy Tail: My brother's been constantly trying to make me watch Fairy Tail all the time, so when I finally get around to it I can find the girl I call Waifu material. Sure, Lucy and Erza are pretty popular, but I laugh at Juvia's antics a lot more. I also ship Gruvia.Momo Yayouroza - My Hero Academia: Ignoring the fact that Momo is still a minor, she's one of those waifus that I can appreciate from afar until she's legal in the series. She has a fun personality, her character arc felt natural, and it also helps that she has the beauty to pull off waifu material. Also, I ship Todomomo.Ryuko Matoi - Kill La Kill: Yet another badass woman worthy of her status as waifu. She kicks ass, doesn't take shit from anyone, and eventually becomes the savior of the world. Lots of crazy things happen in her story, but damn, is it a fun story to watch.Evileye - Overlord II: She's only around for a few episodes, but she's one of those vampires who isn't bitchy like Shalltear. But she's a good wizard, and it's funny when she gets flustered around Momon.Ruby Rose - RWBY: Again, I'm kind of cheating by including a non-Japanese production here, but I just like the show so much. I also just really like the character of Ruby (though I really hope they step their game up as the next few seasons are released. Season 5 seemed to be a letdown for a lot of people, and Ruby hasn't undergone a lot of character development.) Still, she's funny, likes cookies, and can fight monsters. What else is needed for waifu status?Rem - How Not To Summon A Demon Lord: This listed started with a loli character voiced by Jad Saxton, so how about we end it with a loli character voiced by Jad Saxton. Rem is one of those kinds of tsundere waifus that only Jad Saxton can pull off, and she's a catgirl to boot (to be specific, her race is referred to as Pantherian). She still seems underpowered in comparison to main protagonist Diablo, but her fierce determination and her ability to care for her friends is a plus. Also, the last few episodes kind of shows how great of a mother she'd be.And those are my picks. Hope you enjoyed reading.EDIT 8/10/20 - So some time has passed since writing this answer but I have a few more waifus to add (some that replace a few of these waifus since they're underage and not even at the legal consenting age of my state.) These include:Secre Swallowtail - Black Clover: This series has become one of my favorites as of late but I didn't have a discernable waifu from it until Secre was revealed. Also going by the name Nero, Secre is a mage who has lived a long time and who sacrificed a lot to save the Clover Kingdom. Having lived for over 500 years protecting the grimoire of Licht until Asta acquired it, Secre has shown a lot of patience and loyalty towards the first Wizard King and her new friends in the modern world.(Additional Black Clover waifus who could apply are Charmy, Grey, Vanessa, Mereoleona, Dorothy, Charlotte)Darkness - Konosuba: A clumsy crusader with a fetish for pain and humiliation. It helps that when I watched the English Dub her voice actress was perfect for the role. Being one of the Kazuma's party members she always gets roped into some interesting adventures, and she's also one of Kazuma's legal companions which is a bonus.Blair - Soul Eater: Blair easily can replace Rem as my favorite catgirl waifu. In her human form she's pretty sexy, and the fact that she actually tried being friends with the soul reaper and her weapon after the whole incident where they mistook her for a witch and tried collecting her soul just shows how forgiving she can be. Also that fight between her and the mouse witches who combine into the mouse waifu witch is always fun.Basically almost all of the Fire Force girls - Fire Force: This is still practically new to me but I really like all of the Fire Force girls. Hibana, Tamaki, and Mali are much closer on the list but all of the others also have some good qualities.Mirko/Mt. Lady - My Hero Academia: Momo's fine and all, but after reading the manga I found myself liking the rabbit girl and the giant more. Mirko's all battle mentality and her physically toned body are very appealing, while Mt. Lady has shown that her trashy personality hides behind a true hero underneath it all.

How do I memorize faster?

|20 Memory Techniques to Try in One Month|Experiment with these techniques to develop a flexible, custom-made memory system that fits your style of learning the content of your courses and the skills of your sport. The 20 techniques are divided into four categories, each which represents a general principle for improving memory.|Organize it|1. Be selective. To a large degree, the art of memory is the art of selecting what to remember in the first place. As you dig into your textbooks, playbooks, and notes, make choices about what is most important to learn.Imagine that you are going to create a test on the material and consider the questions you would ask. When reading, look for chapter previews, summaries, and review questions.Pay attention to anything printed in bold type. Also notice visual elements, such as charts, graphs, and illustrations. All of these are clues pointing to what’s important.During lectures, notice what the instructor emphasizes.During practice, focus on what your coach requires you to repeat.Anything that presented visually—on the board, on overheads, or with slides—is also key.2. Make it meaningful. One way to create meaning is to learn from the general to the specific. Before tackling the details, get the big picture. Before you begin your next reading assignment, for example, skim it to locate the main idea.If you’re ever lost, step back and recall that idea. The details might make more sense. You can also organize any list of items—even random ones—in a meaningful way to make them easier to remember.3. Create associations. The data already encoded in your neural networks is arranged according to a scheme that makes sense to you. When you introduce new data, you can remember it more effectively if you associate it with similar or related data.Think, for example, about your favorite courses. They probably relate to subjects that you already know something about.Preview readings assignments, and complete those readings before you attend lectures. Before taking upper level courses, master the prerequisites.Even when you’re tackling a new subject, you can build a mental store of basic background information—the raw material for creating associations. The bottom line: to remember more, associate new facts and ideas with something that you already know.|Use your body|4. Learn it once, actively. To remember an idea, go beyond thinking about it.Do something with it.Action is a great memory enhancer.Study your assignments with the same energy that you bring to the dance floor or the basketball court. You can create your own opportunities for action. For example, your sociology class might include a discussion about how groups of people resolve conflict.See if you can apply any of these ideas to resolving conflict in your own family.Use other simple and direct methods to infuse your learning with action. When you sit at your desk, sit up straight.Sit on the edge of your chair, as if you were about to spring out of it and sprint across the room. Also experiment with standing up when you study. It’s harder to fall asleep in this position. Some people insist that their brains work better when they stand.Pace back and forth and gesture as you recite material out loud.Use your hands. Get you whole body involved.Learning can be deceptive. Most learning, especially in higher education takes place in a passive setting.Students are seated, quiet and subdued.Don’t be fooled. Learning takes energy. When you learn effectively, you are burning calories, even if you are sitting at a desk reading a textbook.5. Relax. When you’re relaxed, you absorb new information quickly and recall it with greater ease and accuracy.Students who can’t recall information under stress of a final exam can often recite the same facts later when they are relaxed.Relaxing might seem to contradict the idea of active learning explained in technique #4, but it doesn’t.Being relaxed is not the same as being drowsy, zoned out, or asleep.Relaxation is a state of alertness, free of tension, during which your mind can play with new information and apply memory techniques.“Mellowing out” might do more than lower your blood pressure. It might help you succeed in school.6. Create pictures. Draw diagrams. Make cartoons.Use these images to connect facts and illustrate relationships.Associations within and among abstract concepts can be “seen” and recalled more easily when they are visualized. The key is to use your imagination. For example, Boyle’s law states that at a constant temperature, the volume of a confined ideal gas varies inversely with its pressure.Simply put, cutting the volume in half doubles the pressure. To remember this concept, you might picture someone “doubled over” using a bicycle pump.As she increases the pressure in the pump by decreasing the volume in the pump cylinder, she seems to be getting angrier.By the time she has doubled the pressure (and halved the volume) she is boiling (“Boyle-ing”) mad.To visualize abstract relationships effectively, create an action-oriented image, such as the person using the pump.Make the picture vivid, too.The person’s face could be bright red.And involve all your senses.Imagine how the cold metal of the pump would feel and how the person would grunt as she struggled with it.(Most of us would have to struggle. It would take incredible strength to double the pressure in a bicycle pump, not to mention a darn sturdy pump.)7. Recite and repeat. When you repeat something out loud, you anchor the concept in two different senses.First, you get physical sensation in your throat, tongue, and lips when voicing the concept.Second, you hear it. The combined result is synergistic, just as it is when you create pictures. That is, the effect of using two different senses is greater than the sum of their individual effects. The repetition part is important, too.Repetition is common memory devise because it works.Repetition blazes a trail through the pathways of your brain, making the information easier to find.Repeat a concept out loud until you know it, then say it five more times.Recitation works best when you recite concepts in your own words. For example, if you want to remember that the acceleration of falling body due to gravity at sea level equals 32 feet per second per second, you might say, “Gravity makes an object accelerate 32 feet per second faster for each second that it’s in the air at sea level.”Putting it in your own words forces you to think about it.Have some fun with this technique.Recite by writing a song about what you’re learning.Sing it in the shower.Or imitate someone.Imagine your textbook being read by Bill Cosby, Madonna, or Clint Eastwood (“Go ahead, punk. Make my density equal mass over volume”).8. Write it down. This technique is obvious, yet easy to forget.Writing a note to yourself helps you remember an idea, even if you never look at the note again.Writing engages a different kind of memory than speaking.Written reviews reveal gaps in knowledge that oral reviews miss, just as oral reviews reveal gaps that written reviews miss.In addition, writing is physical.Your arm, your hand, and fingers join in.Remember, learning is an active process - you remember what you do.|Use Your Brain|9. Engage your emotions. One powerful way to enhance your memory is to make friends with your amygdala. This is the area of your brain that lights up with extra neural activity each time you feel a strong emotion. When a topic excites love, laughter, or fear, the amygdala sends a flurry of chemical messages that say, in effect: This information is important and useful. Don’t forget it.You’re more likely to remember course material when you relate it to a goal—whether academic, personal or career—that you feel strongly about. This is one reason why it pays to be specific about what you want. The more goals you have and the more clearly they are defined, the more channels you create for incoming information. You can use this strategy even when a subject seems boring at first. If you’re not naturally interested in a topic, then create interest.Find a study partner in class—if possible, someone you know and like—or form a study group. Also consider getting to know the instructor personally. When a course creates a bridge to human relationships, you engage the content in a more emotional way.10. Overlearn. One way to fight mental fuzziness is to learn more than you need to know about a subject simply to pass a test. You can pick a subject apart, examine it, add to it, and go over it until it becomes second nature. This technique is especially effective for problem solving. Do the assigned problems, and then do more problems. Then make up your own problems and solve them.11. Escape the short-term memory trap. Short-term memory is different from the kind of memory you’ll need during exam week. For example, most of us can look at an unfamiliar seven-digit phone number once and remember it long enough to dial it.See if you can recall the number the next day.Short-term memory can fade after a few minutes, and it rarely lasts more than several hours.A short review within minutes or hours of a study session can move material from short-term memory into long-term memory.12. Use your times of peak energy. Study your most difficult subjects during the times when your energy peaks. Many people can concentrate more effectively during daylight hours. The early morning hours can be especially productive, even for those who hate to get up with the sun.Observe the peaks and valleys in your energy flow during the day and adjust study times accordingly.13. Distribute learning. As an alternative to marathon study sessions, experiment with shorter, spaced out sessions. These are particularly helpful when your sport is in its competitive season. You might find that you can get far more done in three two-hour sessions than in one six-hour session. For example, when you are studying for your American history exam, study for an hour or two and then wash the dishes. While you are washing the dishes, part of your mind will be reviewing what you studied.Return to American history for a while, then call a friend.Even when you are deep in conversation, part of your mind will be reviewing history. You can get more done if you take regular breaks. You can even use the breaks as mini-rewards.After a productive study session, give yourself permission to log on and check your e-mail, listen to a song, or play 10 minutes of hide-and-seek with your kids.By taking periodic breaks while studying you allow information to sink in.During these breaks, your brain is taking the time to literally rewire itself by growing new connections between cells.Psychologists call this process consolidation. There is an exception to this idea of allowing time for consolidation. When you are so engrossed in a textbook that you cannot put it down, when you are consumed by an idea for a term paper and cannot think of anything else—keep going. The master student within you has taken over. Enjoy the ride.14. Be aware of attitudes. If you think a subject is boring, remind yourself that everything is related to everything else.Look for connections that relate to your own interests. For example, consider a person who is fanatical about cars. She can rebuild a motor in a weekend and has a good time doing so.From this apparently specialized interest, she can explore a wide realm of knowledge. She can relate the workings of an engine to principles of physics, math, and chemistry.Computerized parts in newer cars can lead her to the study of data processing. She can research how the automobile industry has changed our cities and helped create suburbs, a topic that includes urban planning, sociology, business, economics, psychology and history.15. Give your “secret brain” a chance. Sometimes the way you combine studying with other activities can affect how well you remember information. The trick is to avoid what psychologists call retroactive inhibition, something that happens when a new or unrelated activity interferes with previous learning.Say that you’ve just left your evening psychology class, which included a fascinating lecture on Sigmund Freud’s theory of dreams. You then check your team schedule and realize that you have a competition coming up in two days. You begin to analyze your opponent and soon find that you can think about your opponent and soon find that you can think of little else.In this scenario, the key concepts of psychology lecture are pushed aside by your gripping concern about the competition.Consider another scenario instead. You arrange to carpool with a teammate who is in the same class. On the way home, you talk about the lecture. The discussion ignites into a debate as you and your friend take opposite stands on a principle of Freud’s theory.Later, just before going to sleep, your brain can now process the key points of the lecture—something that will come in handy for the mid-term exam. The beauty of this scenario is that you keep your head in your course work rather than worrying about the competition. In the process, your memory benefits.16. Combine techniques. All of these memory techniques can work even better in combination.Choose two or three techniques to use on a particular assignment and experiment for yourself. For example, after you take a few minutes to get an overview of a reading assignment, you could draw a quick picture or diagram to represent the main point.Or you could over learn a chemistry equation by singing a jingle about it all the way to work.|Recall it|17. Remember something else. When you are stuck and can’t remember something that you’re sure you know, remember something else that is related to it.During an economics exam, if you can’t remember anything about the aggregate demand curve, recall what you do know about the aggregate supply curve. If you cannot recall specific facts, remember the examples that the instructor used during her lecture.Information is encoded in the same area of the brain as similar information. You can unblock your recall by stimulating that area of your memory.Brainstorming is another memory jog.If you are stumped when taking a test, start writing down lots of answers to related questions, and—POP!—the answer you want may appear. You can take this technique one step further with a process that psychologists call elaboration. The key is to ask questions that prompt you to create more associations. For example, when you meet someone new, ask yourself: “What are the distinctive features of this person’s face? Does she remind me of someone else?”18. Notice when you do remember. To develop your memory, notice when you recall information easily and ask yourself what memory techniques you’re using naturally. Also, notice when it’s difficult to recall information and adjust your learning techniques. And remember to congratulate yourself when you remember.19. Use it before you lose it. To remember something, access it a lot.Read it, write it, speak it, listen to it, apply it—find some way to make contact with the material regularly. Each time you do so, you widen the neural pathway to the material and make it easier to recall the next time.Another way to make contact with the material is to teach it.Teaching demands mastery. When you explain the function of the pancreas to a fellow student, you discover quickly whether you really understand it yourself.Study groups are especially effective because they put you on-stage: The friendly pressure of knowing that you’ll teach the group can help focus your attention.20. Adopt the attitude that you never forget. You might not believe that an idea or a thought never leaves your memory. That’s OK. In fact, it doesn’t matter whether you agree with the idea or not.It can work for you anyway.Test the concept.Instead of saying, “I don’t remember,” you can say, “It will come to me.”Or even “I never forget!”|In order to not forget this, do yourself a favor and bookmark this answer.|Also, since you made it this far, make sure other students, mothers, brothers have the opportunity to learn these techniques. To do that is simple, just upvote it!
