Contractor Work Order: Fill & Download for Free

Yes we had a few civilians onboard our aircraft carrier, although I think they were assigned to our air wing rather than to the ship. They were contractors from their respective companies, i.e., “tech reps”. For instance we had one for the entire cruise who was from Hughes Aircraft. He was an expert on our radar systems and provided great assistance in keeping everything in proper working order. Other tech reps may come and go as needed during a cruise when there is a problem.Our tech reps wore a plain khaki uniform but without insignia. They were welcome in the wardroom and the ready room, and were generally good guys to have around.

I was at an apartment complex to service their fire extinguishers. This particular complex did not have an on-site management/leasing office; they schedule the company I work for to send a tech, we call them when we arrive and when we are finished.So, I'm doing my job. Walking from extinguisher to extinguisher (they're in cabinets mounted to the outside of the buildings), when a cop rolls through the parking lot. He slows and looks at me but keeps going. A few minutes later he comes back from the other direction and gets out to talk to me.Apparently they got a call from a resident about a trespasser or something. I tell him I haven't seen anything, I'm just doing the extinguishers. Then this old lady comes up and starts telling the cop that I'm the trespasser and she wants me removed from the property. I show the cop my work order, he calls the management, and it all checks out. The cop tells the lady I'm allowed to be there, and she starts arguing that she's neighborhood watch and all contractors have to coordinate through her. Another call to management shows she's full of it.The cop tells her to go home and not to bother me. He gives me his card and says he'll stay in the area for a little while and to call him if there's any more trouble.I finish my work without incident.

A landscaper did work on my property without my consent, and is now billing me. What do I do?US Answer:If your property is a single-family home, then simply request a copy of the signed work order/contract showing what was to be done and how much it would cost. A licensed contractor would have that. If he’s not licensed, he shouldn’t have been doing any work on anyone’s property.If your property is in a “common interest community” (meaning you have an HOA), then you need to check your HOA communications to see if the Board authorized the work and the individual homeowners would be paying for it. That’s entirely possible, although unusual - usually the HOA would just pay for the work out of the fees you pay each month.One other option - were you notified by your city/county that your landscaping violated some ordinance? You’d have been given an opportunity (probably several) to correct the problem, then the city/county would have had it done at your expense. Check your mail for any such notices.
