I am the best person right now to answer this question!In one word, YES, it is totally worth it!I came across a term Toastmasters International, here, on quora one fine day last month and instantly I made up to the meeting as a guest. After the first meeting I had decided to be a part of Toastmasters International (TI).Why I wanted to join?Because I did lack the confidence to come up on stage and speak. If I did speak, I did lack the presence of mind, my entire will was summoned to make me utter a voice. And if I was intuitive enough, I would never open up or blurt it out.What did I find at TI?It is the best platform which provides the conducive environment to break the ice on a stage for the first time, interact with strangers, learn in moments of fun and probably you would find it to be the only session were you would have probably listened for 2 straight hours without being distracted!Also, table topics, playing roles improve your impromptu speaking skills. Prepared speeches, the essence of TI, makes you more disciplined were you are focussed to address a speech in the limited amount of time without affecting the central idea of the speech and you start preparing, structuring, brainstorming for the title right from the start with a good plan.Apart from that, mentor mentee relationship is what I found the most beautiful part. The only organization were people support, help, guide each other without any returns! Same goes for speech evaluation too!Recently I visited the division contest held in mumbai, Inspire 2016, and I was tremendously inspired and motivated by the exemplary speakers before starting my journey. The very next week I gave my first speech from Competent Communicator manual (CC1 speech, Breaking the ice) and I nailed it. As the outcome of it is stated, it totally takes of all the stage fright in you and now I will be giving my CC2 speech this saturday.Also, recently a club member completed his ACL and ACB (Advanced communicator silver and bronze) track and I was so much inspired from him!Yes, I would be a DTM one day soon! till then keep improving~Over to you :p (This, along with handshake, is the short protocol which we follow while handing over the control of the stage)Edit 1:It's Saturday, July 23rd, and I've completed almost four months in the Toastmasters fraternity and I would like to add few things which I've learnt after completing 3 prepared speeches, coming up for tabletopics and taking up few roles. What I learnt is-Genuinely complimenting someone. It's break time, after 4-5 prepared speeches, and in this break people compliment the speakers and not for the sake but give so good remarks and with a big smile!Learnt smiling! Yes, everyone at Toastmasters Club is smiling and make the environment conducive. This helps you outside TI. I learnt one thing, smile begets a smile!Heard extraordinarily prepared informative speeches of other Toastmasters which has furthered my knowledge and helped me unlock new horizons too.I'll keep adding as I progress and explore. At 18 months, he said fewer than a dozen words, well below average for that age, so we brought it up at the next well-baby appointment. The doctor referred him to a developmental pediatrician. Now, at 26 months, after some speech therapy, he says things like, “Help milkie,” “Where's Mama,” “More tickles,” “Sing again,” and “Green fish.” His pronunciation is still difficult to understand. We know that “wazanuh” means “What's that noise?” and “ah da uppa” means “I want up,” but it took time to figure out what sounds were connected to what meanings. Listen carefully for repeated sounds in specific contexts, and think creatively about what the sounds might mean. It may be that the gibberish is poorly pronounced sentences, and this is exactly what a speech therapist can help you identify.

People drop in and out.Every session however, members are asked to take on roles to add to the agenda to keep the workshops going.Members will be asked to volunteer to either give a speech, evaluate, facilitate the meeting, and give critique.Roles offered are for the members to get comfortable with speaking in a formal environment.Even though it is not required, you are paying to be there.
