PDF Editor FAQ

In Utah, what colleges are the best pair for a community college then transfer to a four-year college?

I went to LDS Business College from 2003–2005 and it was the best two year vacation. The coursework was too easy. I had never visited the campus, I applied, got accepted and then started classes a week later.Since I am a Latter-day Saint but also from out of state,, I paid church member tuition instead of out-of-resident state tuition…SLCC would have been far too costly for me at the time. This allowed me to qualify for Utah residency after two years. I absolutely loved the small classes, had I gone elsewhere larger I would have been so overwhelmed and done poorly. My original plan was to transfer to BYU but I ended up loving Salt Lake City and decided I didn’t want to live in Provo. Because my grades were very high, I qualified for a transfer scholarship from LDSBC and an honors transfer scholarship at the University of Utah.LDSBC has changed its mission, focusing more on applied science degrees over transfer degrees so I wouldn’t recommend going there as a transfer option unless you are an international student and your goal is to transfer to a Church school or work after 2 years of study. I had to take I believe 3–4 additional classes at the U to graduate but all of my coursework from LDSBC was sufficient for the Eccles business school.Yes SLCC one of your best options to transfer to the University of Utah. My husband did that option. The other junior college I’ve heard very, very good things about is Snow College in Ephraim UT. Many went on to the University of Utah. Yes it is located in a small town but some students feed off the energy of a small campus/small town better than going to a large university campus in a large city. Don’t rule it out completely due to its small size.

What was the true name of Joshua of Nazareth, better known as Jesus Christ?

Two nomina sacra are highlighted, ΙΥ and ΘΥ, representing the name of the divine man and God respectively, in this passage from John 1 in Codex Vaticanus (B), 4th century:None of the very earliest of sacred texts claimed as Christian contain the name of their divine man; instead, abbreviations are used.Nobody at the time explained what they meant, so all later claims are speculative - actually, wishful thinking. However, the earliest, known and extant version of the New Testament (codex Sinaiticus, probably 4th century), uses this: “IS Chrest”:Whether you agree with me, or not, that the gospels are literary, not historical, at least we have this “IS” and can speculate as to its meaning. Not long after the New Testament appears, we have the Quran, in which the character’s name is Isa.Before the New Testament, we have the account of the first-century Josephus for an angelic annunciation of a king “Izas”. If scholarship is correct in identifying this king as Abgar V “the Black” in Edessa, then there is a tradition for him corresponding with the divine “IS”.I should note here that in Latin, this IS can be written as JS.This fabled correspondence is based, I think, on a real letter, found in the Dead Sea Scrolls and known as both MMT and 4QMMT. Robert Eisenman has studied it:MMT as Jamesian Letter to "The Great King of the Peoples Beyond the Euphrates", The Journal of Higher Criticism vol. 11, no.1, Spring 2005.The Sociology of MMT and the Conversions of King Agbarus and Queen Helen of Adiabene. Paper presented at SBL conference, 1992.A Response to Schiffman on MMT, The Qumran Chronicle 1990/91, no. 2/3.In short, the author of the letter is James, the Righteou Teacher, leader of the sect known in the Scrolls as The Poor:James the Brother of Jesus: The Key to Unlocking the Secrets of Early Christianity and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Penguin, 1998.Review by Robert M. Price | Review from the Jerusalem Post | Review from the Portland Oregonian, May 6, 1997| Essay by Dr. Andrew P. Gould, Ohio State U. Distinguished Professor of Mathematical and Physical SciencesJames the Just in the Habakkuk Pesher. E.J. Brill Leiden, 1986.So IS could be James, or even Izas.As a literary figure, he could be entirely fictional, though I argue how he is a parody of The Poor leadership and thus, of both James and Izas.On that basis, Nazareth and Nazarene parody the Jewish title Nazirite:NAZARITE - JewishEncyclopedia.comOne who lives apart; one who has made a vow of abstinence; in the former sense used as early as Sifra, Emor, iv. 3; Sifre, Num. 23.The description of James the Just which Eusebius ("Hist. Eccl." ii. 23) quotes from Hegesippus indicates that James may have been a Nazarite for life, though the name is not applied to him. The general regulations concerning Nazarites in post-exilic times resemble, though with many differences, those of the Arabic "iḥram," the condition of one who has undertaken the pilgrimage to Mecca (comp. Wellhausen, "Reste des Arabischen Heidentums," 2d ed., pp. 122 et seq.). Parallels to the long hair of the Nazarites are found in many parts of the world (comp. W. R. Smith, "Rel. of Sem." 2d ed., pp. 332, 482; Frazer, "Golden Bough," 2d ed., i. 362-389).You see: James, an IS and leader of The Poor at Qumran, killed in 62 CE, has that title. This is history, not mythology.
