… yesterday, our trump supporting neighbors. But they didn’t say anything, they just left this bag on our door handle with some cookies in it.We are ALWAYs polite and kind to them, offer to help them (they are retired and not in great health). We never stick our politics in their face, but they know we are progressive and liberal. We get to hear fox news blaring from their place all day (we live in a three townhouse pod with a shared carport). Yesterday I heard the man yelling about how liberals were “asking for it” by impeaching the president and that liberals were all disgusting, dangerous perverts. (?)When I was lamenting to the woman neighbor that Medicare had cut back some of my Father-in-Law’s essential care, she told me that immigrants were bringing disease over the border, that is why our healthcare costs so much and why Medicare is wrecked. I politely told her that Mitch McConnell is doing all he can to get rid of SS and Medicare, claiming they are welfare, and that trump has been systematically sabotaging the ACA. She made a face at me.We are Jewish liberals surrounded by angry, hateful trump supporters. It is difficult to ignore the Infowars/ruger/NRA bumper stickers, the trump campaign sign that has never been taken down and is in our faces everyday as we drive out, the constant drumbeat about how awful all democrats are, the constant hateful sounds of fox and rush limbaugh from our neighbors. We are trying to stay sane at this point.__________________p.s. to those that feel the need to snark at this: this is just one event in a series of other events around us here that are not as nice. If we could afford to move somewhere with a little more space around us, we would. Bottom line is that everyone has a right to believe what they believe. That is the freedom this country allows us **for the time being**. The government would likely shut down and it is possible the US would default on its bonds. Social Security payments may cease, along with Medicaid and Medicare claims payments. VA hospitals may cut back on operations or cease entirely.It would be an ugly scenario.

Medicare has lots of flaws, but it seems to be more effective than private health insurance.I have never had to challenge a ruling on one of my Medicare claim submissions. During 40+ years of private health insurance, I had to challenge over 50% of submitted claims; they were denied in error. As soon as a superior reviewed the denials they were reversed. This tells me a lot about the quality of the staff and their training and their inefficient way of handling claims.Vote for congressmen and senators who will approve single payer Medicare for All.
