Being forced to abort the fetus from the rape by superior officers, some of whom are female. Ending up thrown in front of the barracks, naked an unconscious after the rape. Getting dragged through a military court martial where the rape is made to look like a case of blatant adultery. Facing threats from their rapist and rapist’s friends, possibly being murdered for reporting the rape. Being jailed for the rape, then discharged without honors. Having no trace of the medical records of the rape in the military file because they were ordered to be destroyed. Ending up as an unemployable civilian unable to get GI benefits or medical healthcare because you have to prove you were raped with no trace of those same military records.This -and more- happened to multiple women (and some men) during my service as a legal aide during the Iraq War.Military Sexual Trauma is by far, the worst thing that could ever happen to a Marine, Sailor or Soldier because it is betrayal at the hands of your own comrades-at-arms.
