In theory, it's Heavy's minigun, unless you count the Engineer's sentry gun as a weapon. The most raw damage in a single shot is a detonation of eight stickybombs. The most damage any weapon can possibly do is a backstab with the Spy's knife.You can measure damage in two ways: damage per shot or damage per second. Unfortunately, both of these have the same acronym, so I'll call damage per shot "DPSh" and damage per second "DPS".Damage per shot is just the amount of damage when you fire the weapon once--for example, the damage caused by one rocket, or one blast from a shotgun.Damage per second is equal to damage per shot times fire rate (the number of shots you can get off in one second if you just hold down M1). So the stock sniper rifle, with a DPSh of 50 on bodyshots, has a fire rate of 0.66 (one shot every 1.5 seconds). 50*0.66 = 33, so the DPS of the sniper rifle is 33 damage if you don't scope in or don't get headshots. I think DPS is more useful for the purposes of this question, so I'll be using that.I picked the sniper rifle as an example because it's easy to think about--one bullet, one shot. On a fully overhealed Heavy, this does 2700 damage.[1] There, just balanced the game.[2] Couldn't figure out how to calculate this from the stats on the TF2 wiki, so I went and tested it myself on tr_walkway_rc2.[3] 0.7 s is the arm time (the time between you launching the sticky and actually being able to detonate it). The actual fire rate is 0.6 s.[4] This calculation includes the rockets from the sentry gun. Note that all three sentry gun calculations assume the Engineer isn't aiming with the Wrangler, which doubles the DPS.
