PDF Editor FAQ

Does a parent have an ethical right to read their children's texts chats or emails without permission or knowledge?

No. That information is private and confidential. What if you do and you find out that a friend of hers is getting molested by her dad. She did not consent to you knowing such things. No one has the right to take the agency or privacy of others.

Can a 17-year-old date a 20-year-old without parents' consent, and could the 20-year-old go to jail?

The 17 year old can try but i imagine their success in that would be very limited and yes the 20 year old van go to jail for dating a minor if they had not been dating them already before they turned 18. (Is some places they can get in trouble even then)

Is Donald Trump the second worst president in US history?

This began as a reply to Ms. Claire Jordan of Great Britain and I am grateful for the inspiration her words provided.Andrew Jackson was an exceptionally poorly educated man of his time. Woodrow Wilson’s fourteen points and the League of Nations —as he intended— may well have ended the wars of nationalism long before the atomic bomb began the era of proxy wars. Other presidents struggled with racism because even the best of us live in our times and very few of us can undo all of the damage that society inflicts upon us. Someone might think poorly of Harry S. Truman or Dwight D. Eisenhower; however, Truman defines honesty and integrity and Ike managed to keep Nixon from lying out of control (would he have exploded from all the lying?) and the Dulles brothers from blowing up the world —they were not as color blind as Martin Luther King dreamt but they were exceptional for their time.Given our society’s current pornographic obsession with spectacular penises, one would expect that it would not be hard to understand why someone who possessed such a remarkable appendage would want to show it off during a time of great sexual exploration. He was terribly inappropriate about it and it probably affected (that is, dramatically decreased) the opportunities he might have found to share what pleasure he experienced; given the stress he was under, he could have used his own Monica. Myself, I would not have objected to President Johnson walking around nude in his own house; however, I will not keep even the most attractive woman company whilst she defecates. He could use his penis to beat on a table for all I care but I would have been intractably adamant concerning his toilet habits. One might consider where our country would be without the programs created by The Great Society. Undoubtedly, we would be better off without the fear inspired burdens imposed on those programs by power hungry republicans; however, I am left to ponder how educated men and women who claim the ideology of fear and blame as their own (often, as I experienced, the young men and women of this party are seduced by smoke and mirrors into a short period of belief whilst others succumb to the fear that pervades parents as their children live through their education —still smoke and mirrors, just another sort—) have not reached a point wherein the mistakes of the past break the last mirror and clear the last product of combustion. Certainly, the country would have been much better off without Reagan. George H. W. Bush was a true public servant and Barbara was beyond reproach; if he wasn't perfect, would that we could have had him without Reagan. In general, republicans seem obsessed with a kind of hypocritical version of restrictive sexual mores. It isn't that they don’t want you to have sex, they just think that you are having it at the wrong time, for the wrong reason, with the wrong person, and doing something they consider particularly perverted; they would rather you just stop having sex altogether for everyone’s peace of mind. They want to tell you whom you might bed and the specific number of individuals (in the present tense, too many for one bed, in the past tense, too many for a decent person)you might bed at any given time. The republicans want you to believe that telling everyone that they cannot do something is not being against choice and that it is acceptable to emotionally badger people beset by a gut wrenching choice and life destroying isolation. Naturally, a republican will then send his mistress home with a personal check to cover the expense of her abortion; lodging and food be damned. I am male and I would rather see Johnson’s penis than be counted among such people. In Sam Kinison’s eminent words, President Kennedy was the man that made Police Girl into Police Woman [sic]. There is no doubt that more than a little of the love of women (as opposed to the misogyny of the time) the Kennedy brothers possessed was partly due to the opportunities for sexual dalliances that might appear, with women in the workplace, that would not have been available otherwise. I find their actions concerning Marlyn Monroe despicable. That being said, as a nation, we need to grow past such petty concerns as a person’s sexuality as much as we need to stop giggling and looking through fingers. A modest education in either Southern culture or linguistics would have sufficed to see through the chicanery of the impeachment and trial of William Jefferson Clinton, sex, as was known by every single one of the congressman concerned, refers exclusively to penetration (naturally, this has since caused all manner of sexual disfunction in this part of the nation) whilst other “outercourse” activities are seen as “heavy petting” or some similar term. One particular point needs to be made (and I included John F. Kennedy and William Jefferson Clinton in deference of the republicans reading this who might not have thought about such matters hitherto) Mr. Clinton shared moments of pleasure with women that came to him because he is a personable, cultured, and well traveled individual who happens to be a talented saxophone player; his wife’s sainthood is inevitable, she has certainly been trialed and scourged enough. Even the most cynical and dim witted republican must have noticed by now that Bill and Hillary have been married for FORTY-FIVE years. Within that span of time, Mr. Trump has cheated on every single woman that has shared some portion of his life on multiple, dare we say, numerous, occasions. One might speculate that a man that brags about sexually assaulting women is probably not a pleasant lover.Do not confuse BDSM —as in 50 shades— with real BDSM and believe that such women went looking for “a real man.” BDSM, more than anything, is about satisfying the needs of an expansive sexuality born from conscious self exploration; important parts of the practice of BDSM are the absence of judgement and the primacy of safety, sanity, and consent. One could even argue that to truly participate in BDSM, one has to be capable of finding pleasure on both sides. A “real man” does not need to demean anyone, male or female, to feel good about himself, he knows his strengths and his weaknesses and seeks to improve himself continuously whilst knowing that he is a superb example of masculinity. Mr. Trump constantly demeans and humiliates his life partner by bragging about his deplorable antics and has spoken about his daughter in a manner that even someone who has seen so much as Mr. Jerry Springer would find both deplorable and beyond the pale of his show.Chances are that Secretary of State Seward was as much a man of his time as Lincoln or Johnson. However, Seward and Lincoln sought to improve themselves because they saw racism as a personal failing (they, undoubtedly, saw sexism in this context as well) and they saw some of what the future held for the country if such beliefs continued to fester —I doubt that they would have imagined what came to pass in their darkest nightmares. Andrew Johnson would have made, by his actions in his time, our time, all that much worse than is currently the case.Andrew Johnson could have done much to continue Lincoln’s legacy and seek to continue to heal the country. Instead, Johnson sought to return the south to preeminence with all it’s “institutions” intact. Jim Crow laws and sundown towns, even the rebirth of the Klu Klux Klan as it exists in modern times, all of it can be laid at the feet of Andrew Johnson. One might even say that Andrew Johnson’s actions (I do not want there to be any confusion) in as much as they have led to the current state of affairs in the Deep South, have made our country into a nation that elects a person such as the unfortunately current president. Making all schools so poor so as to effectively favor wealth that was obtained by others in the past is beyond a deplorable poverty of reasoning, it is simply stupid. Great schools give our best and brightest the chance to make our country the best it can be without regard to what flimflammery or chicanery someone’s grandfather engaged in to obtain said wealth. Our country can ill afford the loss of intellectual capacity that the poverty of education born from what is, factually, informal apartheid; ignorance and bigotry make matters worse by promoting a brain drain of epic proportions. Ask yourself, for every person that thinks the US is a fine place to make money, how many have left to make their mark elsewhere who would have been willing to bleed —and die if necessary— in her defense? The articles of confederation were replaced —the replacement was desperately needed— by The Constitution because thirteen countries could not have defeated an 18th century loon; too many interests and too many divisions in interests and points of view even then, such things do not decrease, they might change, they do not decrease without directed effort. Andrew Johnson made the country into the mess that gave us the anti intellectualism that pervades our society. Andrew Johnson made the country into the mess that has made dishonesty and flimflammery virtues. Andrew Johnson left us a country that spilt millions of gallons of blood throughout the world in the cause of freedom and won only because we could afford the nearly unimaginable cost. One has to wonder what the result and/or the cost would have been if Von Pappen —whom, due to the vagaries of the Imperial German Army, was possessed of a highly trained military mind— had been a better public speaker than Hitler (he was certainly better liked) and less beset by political intrigue. Had Von Moltke, the elder, been the leader of the German General Staff, the outcome might have been all but a forgone conclusion; the war would not have lasted long enough for the United States to become involved —even at the level of lend lease. Indeed, the world would be a remarkably different place because the United States would have been the only threat the Japanese empire faced as the British Far East fleet would have been free to go anywhere, the relationship between Japan and Germany is one of long standing and deep tradition and isolating the United States would have become common purpose; what would have left the Kuriles would have been all the more formidable. It would have also left later in the year such that the US carriers would have been back at anchor at Pearl Harbor with the carrier air wings neatly lined up as they underwent much needed maintenance.Ultimately, I would want the reader to note that the consequences of the administration of Andrew Johnson, one, fortunately cut short by the wise men of the time —none perfect and probably none even close to colorblind— are still being paid. The damage caused by Richard Nixon and John and Allen Dulles is still smoldering all over the world and the price is still being paid by all of us. Even though NONE of what they thought would happened (inexplicably, for otherwise brilliant men, fallacy upon fallacy in support of fallacious arguments) actually came to pass. Indeed, one could have refuted the Domino Theory quite easily: Jamaica has neither become a second home for the Cosa Nostra nor a communist heaven and Cuba is far closer to Jamaica than Vietnam is to Australia; however, one would then have to face the inevitable fact that arrises, Miami is about that same distance from Cuba… something to think about…That Richard M. Nixon was going win reelection in a walk is all too evident, in as much as, even in the face of the Watergate scandal, he was reelected by a huge margin. One could fault Nixon for being, even for a sailor, possessed of a rather blue tongue and one could seriously fault him for being a technophobe —it would end up getting him caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar. However, one cannot fault the political skill required to deflect the formation of a much more powerful agency by convincing enough people that a strong and effective agency (and it would have to be both to forestall any Democratic action) to protect the environment was needed in the first place and to pass enabling legislation. The story is FAR more complex but suffice it to say that his reelection was not due to his good looks.Republican readers will wonder why James Earl Carter has not made my discussion and the answer is you are wrong; whatever you might believe about the man and the state of the nation in his time is deplorably lacking in information. I know, once, I was very much opposed to sweaters and stagflation sounded like political spin, I now know better. In the manner that Mr. Trump has used the tools of government to prop up what he inherited from Barack Obama, it is my greatest hope that he has not placed us at the precipice of another period of stagflation. There is only need to mention moral character to illustrate what would be obvious to the honest, few men walking the Earth, few men who have EVER walked the Earth are fit to wash Mr. Carter’s feet and like another man of character and purpose, Mr. Carter (who would reject the comparison as blasphemy, I am far from perfect, I hope he will understand) has spent the bulk of his life washing the feet of those less fortunate; he did it as president, the reader, as was the author, was too busy complaining about the darkness to notice that someone was trying to light a candle.Ultimately, this is the crux of the entire problem: when confronted with the demands of meeting the standard of someone who embodies every virtue and none of the vices espoused by republicans as “we do not oppose this” cries of “that is tooo much wooorrrrk” are heard throughout the land. However, when some flimflam man yells “I am one of you” while holding a beer up (do you REALLY believe HE would have a beer with you? or that Karl Rove WHO ORIGINATED the whole concept would?) masses flock to him (and it better be him, even Alaskan Barbie could not win them over if she was on top of the ticket) and do so all the faster if the man is holding up an Heckler & Koch PSG-1 in the other.Naturally, because that 20k rifle (more if you consider the maintenance it will need, high precision weapons are not cheap) is just like their couple hundred dollar bolt action Walmart special, it is even the same caliber! Absolutely, you should quiver in fear that someone is coming for your “gun” because of all the challenges that assail our country, THAT is the one that is REAL! Are you DAFT?That Eastern Diamondback bite that would not be a problem if you could get help, will be lethal if you can’t get a fast ride to a hospital and soon; it will still be lethal if you can’t call ahead. Maybe, Mr. Trump will give you a lift and maybe Mr. McConnell will lend you his SatPhone. I don’t think Medicare covers snakebites, the hospital might want cash on the barrel or is that barrel? My sarcasm is not intended as evidence of self indulgence (word processor intestinal problems notwithstanding) rather, the intent is to illustrate that the republican president that gets elected (as historical evidence would seem to bear out) is someone who tells people that their fear is warranted and urgent. It is the person that does not correct any false beliefs nor dissuade any superstition. The president that gets elected does not need to uphold any particular values or even be truthful concerning what they have accomplished in their lifetime, they need only be someone that is not “the other guy” —how did that Catholic mick ever get elected? [sic] The republican that gets elected “supports” the worst habit or institution as long as it is part of the culture of the United States (he really means “the south” though he might mean “white” as if that was as homogenous as semi gloss paint from Home Depot) whilst, somehow, avoiding the implicit and logically demanded MULTICULTURALIST nature of the country —I have made that mistake on at least one occasion in the past —when a carrot starts looking like a yam, your stew is overcooked. Whatever such a person has done is inconsequential as long as there is someone to blame, that is to say, claim that the person does the exact same thing —even if it is not true, just so it is believable.Mr. Ruizinowitz presents a compelling argument that I will have to give some deep consideration before changing my answer to the question as to whom might have headed the worst administration in US history. The only reason that Mr. Trump is only the second worst president in US history is because Andrew Johnson is the first and if we are still paying the price for the fortuitously short administration of the worst choice for Vice President in history then one can only wonder what the price will be and for how long will that price have to be paid. The Dulles brothers were not presidents but their choices are, even now, costing all of us dearly and they were able to take the actions they took IN SPITE of the presidents they served. One could argue that there is a degree of failure illustrated by the failure of subordinates to execute actions that benefit the nation in both the short term and the long term. There is one other measure of disastrous administration that I am yet to see mentioned; actually two. The first, how much do you have to lie (calling it spin is cowardice, if your position is valid and cogent, why does it need spin? Conversely, if it is neither, why do you hold such a position? The second is the number and the rate of individuals in an administration that have been incarcerated for violating federal laws of one sort or another. The Trump administration has dramatically exceeded precedent on both counts to such an extent that one can only hope it never happens again.
