Trump claimed Putin mentioned the “N word” in a speech on July 27, 2016 — and we are led to believe he meant the one that is a racist insult. He has a total lack of respect for President Obama.Trump never said “Putin called Obama the N-word.” He said, “Putin mentioned the N-word,” and then perhaps as a change of topic, Trump added, “He has a total lack of respect for President Obama.”WaPo reporter Philip Bump commented:If you know what this is referring to, please let me know. Nothing comes up in a news search.Then another user commented:He’s either mistakenly referring to this – While Talking ISIS Strategy, Putin Just Dropped The "N" Word... This Could Change EVERYTHING – which actually meant ‘nuclear’, or it’s dog-whistle racism.That’s right — Trump is implying that Putin used the racist insult that commonly is referenced as the “N word”. But Trump seems to have read only the headline of that story, which is about the fact that Putin has not ruled out using Nuclear weapons against ISIS.“Nuclear” begins with the letter N — get it? It’s an N-word.Then Trump connects Putin’s statement to Obama—who is black. Trump is so clever! By mentioning Obama immediately after Putin’s use of an N-word, he made you think Putin used the N-word!Cle-ver!This is the kind of rhetorical skill you’d expect from a ten-year-old. I’m sure we can look forward to his epic comebacks, “I know you are but what am I?” and “loser says what?”

BEIJING: Yes and it will be interesting to observe this dynamic a few years later. United States President Donald J. Trump has washed his hands of the World Health Organization (WHO).Yet, many world leaders defended the WHO and pledged to raise more funding for them, including US allies – United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.President Trump blundered if he wanted to do a kill shot on the WHO. Instead, WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanmom looks to be a more sympathetic figure and many nations will rally around him.WHO is not perfect, but we should not expect any person or organization to demonstrate perfection at all times. Nonetheless, striking back at WHO was very bad timing.Washington can criticize China all they want, but it won’t change the facts that the US is reporting the most cases and deaths from the COVID-19 outbreak.Who knows how long before the US wakes up and starts to tackle the pandemic without pointing fingers at other nations or international organizations?Expelling WHO from direct communication with the White House won’t help matters.Beijing will as a result gain greater influence with WHO and United Nations. The Central Government can fill in the void by offering to provide replacement funding.The Trump administration claims they pay over US$440 million to WHO annually and China can afford to pay around the same amount if they choose to do so.China hopes to be more respected by the international community and would like to play a larger role in global governance mechanisms.President Trump views globalism with grave suspicions so it should come as no surprise that he’s Pushing back on WHO. Yet, Washington can’t have their cake and eat it too.The Trump administration has a habit of acting surprised when they announce plans to stop payments to global governance mechanisms and consequently China offers to pay more money to the same organizations and Beijing wins greater influence in world affairs.If Washington insists on having leadership roles in the UN and WHO, they have to pay their annual dues without complaint. Beijing is making good on its pledges, so they deserve more prominence.Meanwhile, the US can’t say they are succeeding to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.India has a population of about 1.3 billion and a neighboring nation to China. Yet as of April 16, New Delhi has reported 12,245 confirmed coronavirus cases and 422 deaths.Let’s compare that to US at the same time, according to Worldometer - real time world statistics, the US cases are 644,089 and 28,259 deaths.By pointing out how Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has handled the virus, by staying in close communications with Beijing and the WHO, we see the evidence that China is not under-reporting its numbers or concealing anything.If Beijing was acting in a malicious manner, New Delhi would have been much more devastated by the coronavirus.We can read more about Modi’s response to COVID-19 from the Indian Express. But, the lockdown and partial quarantine measures have been proven effective and helpful.The COVID-19 epidemic was first spotted in China, but the novel coronavirus may not have originated in China. Most infection cases in foreign countries are imported, but there are exceptions also. There are virus-infected patients outside China who had no connections or source with China.In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed on February 26 that a person in northern California has contracted the virus without traveling outside the US or coming in contact with another patient known to have the infection.Dr. Maria Vankerkhove, technique lead of the WHO Health Emergency Program, said, “Some early cases didn’t have exposure at the market. There is a lot of area of work that needs to be conducted to identify the real intermediate hosts.”Michael J. Ryan, executive director of the WHO Health Emergencies Program, said, “We need to be careful with the language we use because the language of stigma, and origin and who's to blame is something that's becoming unfortunate part of the global narrative, which is not helpful.” I totally agree with their remarks.As of the morning of March 2, the novel coronavirus has sickened more than 89,000 people in the globe, resulting in at least 3,044 deaths. It has swept about 65 countries. South Korea reported a total of 4,335 COVID-19 cases by March 2. Washington State in the US reported two COVID-19 infected deaths. Both occurred in the Evergreen Health Hospital, and the two victims were male in their 50s and 70s and both had underlying health problems. Washington Governor Jay Inslee declared a state of emergency on February 29 in response to the new cases, and directed state agencies to use “all resources necessary to prepare for and respond to the outbreak.”Diseases can emerge everywhere, coronavirus are now a global phenomenon. It is an unlucky accident of history and nature that they emerge in a certain place. Now, it is not the right time to ascribe blame to geographic orgin, but look at how humans respond to the accident.China has done a great job in battling the virus and its efforts won international praise.The foreign panel, including experts from Japan, Germany, the United States and Russia, unanimously agree that China has changed the course of a rapidly escalating outbreak that has recently plateaued and declined faster through "ambitious, agile and aggressive" containment efforts. Blame causes hurt and finding out the solution is the most urgent for the globe.Good luck for India and I will continue praying for the country.
