Below are the things that I've learnt with experience, the most important of them :-First, you have to make sure the rohtang pass is open during the time you plan your ride. You can keep checking the road conditions on the official Leh website and plan accordingly.Second, prepare for the ride. Since you are hiring a motorcycle, the spare parts and the tools will be provided. Expect 1500rs per day for a decent bike.Next, prepare yourself for it. A good rain gear(try quechua, cheap & good quality) is a must.Get a pair of gum boots and ride in them the entire way till Leh, coz the river crossings are sure to get your shoes wet.Riding gear, is a necessity, saves you from small falls which you are bound to have if its your first time riding that terrain.Wear clothes in layers. Have a thick jacket which is also a wind cheater.Very good warm gloves are a must. Take a sleeping bag along.Have a few bunjee chords to tie your bags to the bike tight. Don't try riding with a bag strapped to your back, it will just tire you.Have a balaclava at all riding times, saves you from facial skin burns and dust.Plan your ride a day at a time, make sure you try reaching those pit stops by evening.Most important of all drink lots and lots of water. Force yourself to drink more and more of it. This will reduce your changes of getting severe AMS.Know this, at high altitudes you and the motorcycle both are not at your best, don't push either of them to limits.If you do suffer severe headaches head to low altitudes immediately.Try your best not to spend a night at very high altitudes like Sarchu..Take things easy, you are not in a race but you are living the best experience of your life.At any of these high altitudes drinking and smoking is a strict NO.. Your body can't handle itWhen you are giving way to a larger vehicle always stick to the mountain side never the cliff side. Even if you have to be on the wrong direction.Do not try to ride at night. The rivers swell up in the evenings.You'll meet a lot of bikers on the way, they'll always be there to offer you a helping hand if you need. So don't worry.You need a budget of 50k to do it comfortably including the safety money for 2 weeks. It's a whole new world out there live it brother!! \m/ cheers

The UN says that CO2 savings of 2 million tonnes is possible if every airline passenger keeps the baggage weight to less than 20 Kg.At home, ensure that there is space at the back, sides and top of Refrigerators to allow air circulation. This maximizes refrigerator efficiency.Say NO to plastic bags. They are harmful to the environment.Cut the waste. Preventing waste generation is the most favoured option.Use Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) instead of incandescent lamp. This saves about 70% of electricity consumption.Clean the lamps & fixtures regularly. Illumination levels fall by 20-30% due to collection of dust.Plan your Route. Fuel consumption in a highly congested road can be double the normal. You will get more mileage from each litreif you take a less congested route, even though it is slightly longer.Switch from a Desktop to a Laptop. This saves electricity.Think! Before you Honk!

If you CAN do it? Sure, go ahead. The hardware won’t degrade and, bar some other disaster, like a flood or some freak accident, there’s no reason it won’t work when you finally get to use it.Now, whether you SHOULD do it? HELL NO WITH SILICON ON TOP. Here’s the thing: PC hardware advances every year. Prices on now “old” tech drop as the new stuff rolls out. What that means is that, while a part you buy today for, say, $500 will perform just as well in 3 years when you get to use it, there will be a new $500 part that will outperform the one you already have. And said part you will have sitting for 3 years will be heavily discounted or have an equivalent that sells for $100-$200. So by keeping a current part gathering dust for 3 years, you will have literally thrown money in the trash.There’s a few options, though:Build a budget PC right now, with mid-range parts, for, say, $600 total. If you already have a monitor or HDTV, you can keep using that. Gaming mice and keyboard, while cool, are hardly necessary. Normal stuff will do just fine. There’s several youtube channels that do monthly “builds”, just find one that fits your current budget and go for it. After that, you can go slowly upgrading parts as you save money.Save the money. Put it in a savings account, stash it under the mattress(this last one is a joke, don’t do it. Fire hazard), but DO. NOT. spend it now. I know, it’s like an itch you just have to scratch, having the money but not getting to use it, but some discipline is required. In 2–3 years when you have enough money to buy all the parts, THEN you buy the parts and put it together. That guarantees you won’t be throwing money on hardware that will be outdated by the time you get to use them.If you really want to save money, build it yourself, or get a friend to help you. Buying pre-built always carries a premium and is hardly ever worth it; but whatever you do, DON’T BUY A PART JUST TO LEAVE IT GATHERING DUST.
