What is the best financial data terminal for fundamental research and building financial models: Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet or a different one?

As others have noted, Bloomberg is very comprehensive with tons of data and it costs tons of money to use Bloomberg. If you want to build financial models via API, most big providers are restrictive and hard to work with.My company, Intrinio, has a very different model. You can get 10-Q and 10-K fundamentals in Excel, but also via API, along with real time stock prices, sector and industry data, foreign exchange prices, options prices, corporate actions, and more, but you only pay for what you use:Fintech Data Marketplace | IntrinioThis article gives an overview of Intrinio:Data Market-Place: An Introduction to IntrinioIt’s a much more affordable solution with easy to access data.

What is the dress code at FactSet Systems India Pvt. Ltd.?

I worked in factset for 2 and half years at Hyderabad Office. There was no dress code as such at-least while I was working. I have been in contact with my coworkers as they are my friends. They didn’t tell me about introduction of such thing. If it was introduced they would have told me.Factset Hyderabad can be divided into two parts. Engineering and content collection.Content collection people are from MBA background. So may be that might be the reason they prefer coming in formals.Engineering people usually come in casuals.Off course there are exceptions.Final note: Employees are free to wear whatever they like, they don’t have any restrictions as such.

Is it time to sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin?

I thought I’d answer this anonymously because as a media personality in this space, my answer may be perceived with bias or trying to spin a story. What I can say anonymously is very different than what my network will allow me to.Before giving you a yes or no answer, you should understand what is going on in the back end across the globe that is shaping where this is going. The currencies - the basicsBTC - The mother of all coins, where all the attention is.Litecoin - one of the most stable coins which its founder dumped all of his coins…Ethereum is the currency of ICOs and without question the rise of financing by ICOs in early stage companies is far outpacing the old days of angel investing. So whats going on now?The Silicon Valley product effect500 startups are launching an ICO accelerator track, Y Combinator are adding more and more ICO based projects. The issue with earlier adoption publicly in SV is that many of the funds could not receive tokens as part of their LP/fund setup. They are setting up their funds, accelerators now. Expect huge push from SV in the coming 12–24 months.Evangalists like Naval Ravikant (who has HUGE influence in the valley) launching Coinlist and investing in many projects, to Tim Draper, Founders of Square, Stripe etc. The smart money is moving into this space. The rumors of Facebook and Coinbase are true, but the final price is not something Brian and Sheryl have met eye-to-eye on. FB wants to buy for $5b, Coinbase believes they could be $25b+ worth. I would prefer FB to buy it, because the awareness of coins to so many people will be massive which will drive adoption faster. The talk of XRP being a security are nothing but fear used to help influence a lower XRP (whilst many bigger investors are building their positions). Expect an announcement in Q4 that XRP is not a security and watch the price double within a month. In short, regardless that Crypto is a global thing, most of the innovation is being driven out of USA. Which leads to…The Asia trading effectThe issue with crypto is that every day another Binance clone is launched by incompetent newbies in the space (see Huobi, EXX, Coinsuper etc). The sites look identical to the last one that has launched, and trading volume published are flat lies. Even though Asia trading will dominate the price movements in the coming year, it will be Silicon Valley’s products that will move the market (see Stellar, Ripple, Coinbase etc). Expect Asia to help push adoption, but it will be US products they will adopt. Coinbase has influence on the market more than any Binance, Huobi, Okex.Hong Kong could be the epicenter if China relaxes its rules - most major exchanges have offices there with some big names who can move the needle in the industry, Bitmex (Arthur Hayes and his largest trading volume exchange), Octogan Strategy (the masters that can exchange your sweet crypto for millions), Oddup (the rating company used by all the institutions), Welab (the virtual bank opening crypto friendly business bank accounts). The Switzerland effectSwitzerland has effectively saved Crypto by allowing Tether/Bitfinex to locate there. As a result, the “tether to cash” proof can be created to help solve what would have been the end of days for the cryptocurrency community.Crypto Valley has helped the Europe power brokers set up a friendly environment which will see many top tier projects move to (purely for legal reasons). The Eastern Europe effectHome of the most dodgy projects, based on research from ICOrating, Oddup, ICOBench without question these are where all the ICO crappy projects are from. From telegram boards which mention the words “moon, lambo, and HODL” you can be assured your hard earned ETH will go to waste at beautiful Slovenian women and a lambo. The institution effectIn Q3–4 2018 you will see the institutions launch Crypto and ICO products into their terminals. Expect Thomson Reuters, Factset, Bloomberg to get in on the action. This will drive the price fast. As a result, many of the startup who partner with this company should expect buyouts in the coming 12–18 months at exceeding higher valuations. What should you do?Only invest 5% or less of your wealth, and set a goal you want to achieve. I.e. is it double? Triple? or you can hold for years to come.Yes, buy all three, but the bigger returns will be on ETH as the ICO market will help drive it.Buy others, including some strong ICOsEOS - without doubt one of the most exciting projects in this space with a huge community, enormous war chest, and the introductions of the some of the best executives in Asia will make this company super prominent in the coming years. Adding a number of superstar investors will help this currency one day be worth $100 a coin.XRP/Ripple - At 45–50c its much lower than its highs last year. With a number of SEC reps working as counsel and advisers to Ripple, they will navigate around the concerns of whether or not its a security.Stellar - Solid project, strong support. For ICOs - Focus on the dapps, not the protocols.Investors are currently focused on the protocol space, all trying to find Blockchain’s answer to Android or Apple. My advice would be focus on companies who do ICO who have been around for a number of year. Why? Because they have something to loose. Reputation, staff, backing, respect. For new projects, its like early stage investment, you expect 90% of them to die. If you look at companies older than 3 years then you have 90% less chance of seeing your investment die. What should you do?Only invest 5% or less of your wealth, and set a goal you want to achieve. I.e. is it double your money? Triple? or you can hold for years to come.Yes, buy all three, but the bigger returns will be on ETH as the ICO market will help drive it. I.e. if you buy BTC at 8k and it goes back to highs of $20k then you have 2.5x your money. If you look at ETH going to $1500, then you will 3x your return. LTC is the one I am not overly loving. Mostly to do with its founders selling all his LTC.This has been a long way to say, dont sell. Hold and Buy. Next year you will be happy when you have doubled, triple or may 10x your investment.
