PDF Editor FAQ

What is your craziest US immigration experience?

I’m on a Government list; no one knows or tells ‘why’ but I get the SERIOUS shit any time I come back into the U.S.I’m a U.S. citizen, never joined or attended any untoward groups, never burned a flag or picketed an ROTC. I did work on the inside at a government facility whose historic specialty was designing bombs of ALL shapes and sizes and testing them. When I was there, the ‘test’ data, 500 underground tests, was just a data base, my 6-month to a year job project‘make it run faster’ (Fortran). OK fine. I did that, found bugs in the code, etc. etc. THAT IS THE ONLY POSSIBLE THING that could make me a person of interest. (And I know what formulas work, and what formulas don’t work.. for wave propagation and analysis…and what tests worked, and those that didn’t… and why (You see, an ol’timer named Rambo didn’t KNOW I really wasn’t on the ‘inside’; and I didn’t know he had crossed the line when he spelled it out). But I did swear to defend the Constitution… (Oh wait, so did Snowden AND HE DID! He defended it from attacks by those from within; but that’s another highly related rant entirely). The first clue I was on a list was when coming back in through Customs, simply being ALWAYS taken aside and asked repeatedly: “Who do you work for? Who did you see? What was your business in…” and have my suitcases tossed and examined like I stole it from them.I complained to the government about it. Sometimes I would miss connecting flights. They tossed my stuff, or would just take it, and toss it in another room. The Government sent back a letter saying they would look into it, and gave me a case number to give to ‘Homeland’ next time I came back in.So the next time, and yes, they were again giving me the “WHO DO YOU WORK FOR…” and although I told my friends NOT to accompany me, one of friend’s brothers dismissed my warnings and came with me (I’ve only met him twice). So this time I told the inspector, look, check with this case number, maybe you don’t have to play with me after all. He said angrily: “You think we have time for that? We don’t. WHO DO YOU>>>… . After he was through going down the list, he handed back my Passport. Someone else interrogated my friend’s brother. I wanted to report this guy for not chasing down the file; but his badge was permanently ‘turned around.’ So I asked him his name. He looked down at the ground, and then snatched my Passport out of my hand, waved his hand, and said ‘follow me.’In a small windowless room with a table, and with three other guards following us in, he said:”empty your pockets on the table … now lean on the table with your palms … search him.” Then said “drop your trousers, and lean forward on the table and”, while a guy behind me was putting on rubber gloves. Then he leaned down close along side me and said: “Do you still want my name?”Four years later, the guy that accompanied me that night, and whom I’ve never seen since, phoned me to say that he was coming in from Canada, and they pulled HIM aside, and asked: “So how is it you know Cary…”.When I asked other relatives in law enforcement about Homeland Security, CIA, they said, “DON’T CHASE IT. They are bad people, you’ll never find out, and you’ll never win. The more you ask, the more lists you’ll be put on. Homeland can take ANYONE that is within 200 miles outside the U.S. or INSIDE the U.S. within 100 miles from any border; and can keep you without cause or trial for as long as they see fit. They report to NO ONE; there are 35,000 CIA just by themselves, and obviously watching EVERYONE, particularly YOU.”Oh, and if I order some things from China, they stop in California (where I live), then go to the east coast, and either disappear, or come back to California. (I’ve been wating 6 months now for my ‘laser glasses order’, (Blue Blocker class!!?) and seen them on the U.S. postal shipping time-line disappear in Virginia.)oh it’s great to be an american.

Why don't EU countries use American police cars?

European police authorities prefer some cars which are commonly called “luxury cars” elsewhere, mostly of local production. However, you can frequently find one American brand used as police cars in Europe, and this brand is Ford. European Ford cars are developed and mostly produced in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and so their state police uses Ford S-Max and other models (not exclusively):Picture: Ford (promotion material)The Bavarian police commonly uses “Bimmers” (BMW), which are manufactured there:Picture (C) Marco Verch; License: Creative Commons - Attribution 2.0 Generic - CC BY 2.0The state of Baden-Württemberg prefers Mercedes-Benz models which are produced in their capital city of Stuttgart:Picture (C) Zwiadowca21; unmodified; License: Creative Commons - Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International - CC BY-SA 4.0In the German state of Saxony, police often uses Volkswagen cars, which are also produced there:Picture (C) Freistaat Sachsen; License: Creative Commons - Namensnennung - Weitergabe unter gleichen Bedingungen 3.0 Deutschland - CC BY-SA 3.0 DEBut also non-local, however European makes are used, for example this Alfa Romeo of the Polish police:Picture (C) Assolut; License: Creative Commons - Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported - CC BY-SA 3.0By the way, on this picture you can see how many items usually have to be stowed in a police vehicle:Picture (C) IM NW (press release); Source (in German language) with one more picture: POL-MG: First Ford S-Max taken into operation as a patrol car in MönchengladbachEDIT: As some wondered whether such cars are suitable for chasing someone, and for arrests: They are. Watch this video, where you see Dutch police (the white and the dark blue cars) crossing into Germany, following a white small van, and finally arresting the driver (German police are the blue and yellow marked cars, and the German officers are those without the yellow reflective patches):Remark: At around 0:10, the border had been crossed, and later on (0:34), a Dutch police car crashes into a car waiting at traffic lights.EDIT TWO: How this complies with competition rules: A larger police force does not buy the vehicles “off the shelf”, but enters into use studies, this involving users (police constables), developing prototypes of several police vehicles for different use cases (e.g. one for rural use, one for normal patrolling, one for larger scenarios, and so on). Manufacturers can participate in this, but all that development work makes only sense if your engineering or development capabilites are quite near. For a U. S. manufacturer, it might be too costly and cumbersome to be present in Cologne, Warsaw, Barcelona, or Bologna twice a week just to tailor-make a police vehicle and perhaps win a tender for 2000 police vehicles within three years, or less. For local producers, this also is not the best deal ever - it is a public relations effort rather. They would probably neither make big wins, nor big losses with the delivery of those vehicles. Later on, additional vehicles can be ordered from the same manufacturer because it is a reasonable argument that technical compability should be maintained. The framework contracts are usually newly concluded every five years. For example, a partial shift of the police in North Rhine-Westphalia from BMW to Ford was the result of such a re-design exercise, which took some years.[1]Footnotes[1] https://www.gdp.de/gdp/gdpnrw.nsf/id/43F1F38BE8557D84C12582F0003E69D5/$file/NRW_GdP_9_18_s1-8_Internet.pdf?open

Why is IAF buying old Mig - 29’s instead of opting for more Sukhoi 30 MKI ?

Understand this: The Mikoyan Mig 29 and Sukhoi Su 30 are completely different aircraft with different characteristics. The major difference being the “size”, Their “Role” and their “capabilities”.Su 30 started its life as Su 27 along with Mig 29 so both the aircraft are of same age. Su 30’s indian version is known as Su 30 MKI. The MKI version is one of the most advanced family of 4th generation fighters. The Indian Version of Mig 29 is the Mig 29 UPG (Upgraded From the Original Mig 29 SMT). The UPG version is considered to be the most Advanced Mig 29 in existence. The UPG version has increased Weapon load capacity and increased fuel Load capacity which increases the overall range of aircraft.Above: The black aircraft is Su 27 (later developed into Su 30) The blue one is Mig 29.Above: See the difference in size. Blue one is Su 27 and Grey one is Mig 29Su 30 is a family of Heavy Air Dominance fighter aircraft while the Mig 29 is a family of Medium Air Superiority fighter aircraft.Above: Su 27Above: Su 30; Notice something?? The Su 30 is a Two seat aircraft unlike the previous Su 27. it also uses canards for added maneuverability. but the overall design remained the same.Above: The Mig 29.Su 27 (the aircraft on which the Su 30 is based on) was developed along with the Mig 29 during 1970s. Su 27 was eventually developed into Su 30 while Mig 29 was upgraded to higher standards. These aircraft are made to complement each other in the battlefield. To understand this, think of The Su 30 as an Assault rifle while the Mig 29 is the SMG.Now a bit of comparison: between Mig 29 UPG and Su 30 MKI (indian versions)Above: Mig 29 UPGAbove: Su 30 MKIArmament:Both Aircraft feature a 30mm Gryazev Shipunov GSh 30–1 autocannon with 150 roundsMig 29 UPG has 7 hardpoints to carry 4500 kg of armament while Su 30 MKI has 12 hardpoints and can acrry 8100 kg of armamentRange:Mig 29 UPG can travel 2,100 km on internal fuel while the Su 30 MKI can travel 3000 km on internal fuelPowerplants:Mig 29 UPG uses two upgraded Klimov RD 33 After burning Turbofan engines producing 81.59 kN thrust with afterburnerSu 30 MKI uses two Lyulka AL 31FP After burning Turbofan engines producing 123 kN thrust with afterburnerPerformance:Mig 29 UPG has a top speed of Mach 2.25 while Su 30 MKI has a top speed of Mach 2.0From the above comparison You can understand that these aircraft do different things at different ranges. Mig 29 is used to destroy the enemy quickly with as less airtime as possible while Su 30 are used in prolonged battle given their superior Endurance.Mig 29 being smaller is more maneuverable while Su 30 being larger and heavier is less maneuverable but, Su 30 MKI along with Su 30 MKM, Su 35 are the most advanced maneuverable aircraft available in market, Maneuverability is achieved by thrust vectoring giving them the ability to be supermaneuverable. Their Maneuverability allows them to pull off unnatural maneuvers like Pugachev’s Cobra and the Vertical 360 loop.Unlike the smaller Mig, the Su 30 uses fly by wire while the Mig relies on Hydraulics.Mig 29 are more suitable for dog fighting in close proximity while Su 30 is more suitable for BVR and long range fighting. But like all russian Aircraft, Sukhois and Migs have Dogfighting pedigree that the USAF fighters don’t, they only rely on BVR. Once the F22/ F35 is out of ammo, The Russians (Su’s and Mig’s) will chase it and shred it to piecesSu 30 can be considered as a bigger Mig 29. In a battle formation, Mig 29 will be in front with Su 30 flanking them from behind. The Mig was designed to be a front line Fighter while Su 30 was designed to carry all the firepower. Both aircraft serve a different purpose that cannot be interchanged. Just because they appear similar does not mean they are similar. Mig 29 Is one of the most agile Aircraft in existence while Su 30 is a flying Tank that houses a wide range of armament.According to one of my acquaintance's , this order is meant to help India to increase the number of squadrons required to protect the borders in case tensions arise between India and its neighbors. also some sources speculate that the Su 30 and Mig 29 are purchased to compensate for Crashes (which is understandable). Both the aircraft, now in their most advanced forms i.e the Su 35 and Mig 35 are a fearful bunch of planes that can do things without thrust vectoring that the F22 can do only by thrust vectoring. On a given day, in dogfights (not BVR) the Russian Duo will outperform any aircraft, PeriodCheers!!Special Thanks to-Sourindra Laha for the information about the order and Data.Edit 1: disabled comments because some people were nice enough to comment “things” but we're lazy enough to not write an answer.Edit 2: the answer will remain as it is. I'm a Mig fanatic, this answer is a work of fiction (according to some). Is F 22 better than Su 30 and Mig 29?? Only time will tell. Till then, peace out!!
