When was the hardest you have cried?

Dec 6, 2014I knew deep inside my heart, something was not very right for the past two weeks. My then boyfriend was struggling to tell me something, I was able to predict something was not going right about our relationship. He mentioned in his Whatsapp status that things are going great in his life, I thought he was mentioning about clearing his TN Medical Recruitment Board examinations and landed up as a government doctor in his own hometown. But then, it was the morning of 6th Dec 2014, I have texted him to call me Which he did when I was about to head for an interview. I said I wanted to speak him once after the interview. He mentioned that he also needed to talk to me. I had received a call from him that evening and he started asking about my interview and about my family but the voice was very feeble. I was almost sure, he was going to bring up our breakup and asked him if everything was ok with us. He said it is not and continued that his parents have found a matrimonial match for him. I congratulated him and excused myself as grief struck me badly. I felt like my world has doomed. Since that day, I had been crying in solitude like crazy. But the pain is pacifying with time.It was a long distance relationship of five years, which started as friendship and bloomed into love. I was hopelessly and madly in love with him, and I still am. He is no longer the same but a happily married man.

Is it possible to exempt one state from the NEET while the Supreme Court insists on the NEET strictly?

In my opinion it is absolutely unfair. The politicians of Tamil Nadu are rambling about the so-called 'unique' situation of our state but I don't see what is so special. Is Tamil Nadu the only state in India with poor or rural students? The people who want TN to be exempted from NEET are in fact hypocrites: they are state board students who mugged up their entire syllabus in private schools and didn't bother to learn their 11 std syllabus, because of which they couldn't even qualify NEET. They're using the whole 'it will affect rural students' excuse for their own personal gains. Are they aware of the statistics? In the past ten years, when admission was based on board marks only 0.7% of the students admitted into government medical colleges in TN were from a rural background. When TN asked for exemption last year I supported it because it's not fair to suddenly spring such an exam on students. However it's been a year during which TN has made no effort whatsoever to update the state board syllabus but they say they will do it in the next year. Now there are State Board students who say they only had a year to prepare for neet while CBSE students had two years. Well excuse me, did you guys study your 12th portions for two years all this time, score centums, and get into MMC? Are we fools to sit and study the 11th portions? The field of medicine is one that demands the highest standards and accepts only the best students. For people who couldn't crack neet, it means you're not fit to study medicine. Please go pursue some other course or take a break to actually study and not just mug up. Don't play with the lives of deserving candidates just because you are bitter.

Is Tamilnadu lagging behind other South Indian states in attracting investments/developments in the recent times?

Blunt Yes, TN is finding it difficult to get investment. Sometimes, it is unpalatable to accept the truth and people tend to be defiant. But writing is clear from all the data that is available. TN and its successive governments did a fantastic job growing since 1994 when Ford and Hyundai first arrived on shores of Chennai, follower by other automotive companies. This was followed by queue of IT companies coming into several cities of TN led mainly by Congnizant and TCS. The Nokia plant was the pride of TN making the electronic manufacturing hub of India. TN seemed to be racing ahead. Then comes the Shock! Everything started crumbling post the tax demand of both TN state govt and Central govt to Nokia which led to closure of the unit. Many people do not really understand the impact of this single event. Coupled with this was the fact that other states of India were aggressively inviting investors and companies. TN govt advertised GIM 2015 in getting new investments but failed miserably in execution and clearances. This was followed by string of negative events such the death of the Hon CM Jayalalitha, Chennai floods, cyclones, demonetization. Companies also held back investment awaiting clarity on New GST. Politicians concentrated more on welfare schemes ( polite wording for freebies) than getting investment. It seemed that everyone wanted to rest on past laurels and use negative events as an excuse for poor performance. The Stark reality is that TN today has to compete with many many states compared to 15 years ago when most companies had just 3–4 states to choose from.Today, lets see the certain sectors in which TN lost its advantage.Electronics and Hardware - Noida in Uttar Pradesh. Samsung now has the biggest mobile factory of the world. Others like Vivo, Opportunity, Micromax are also located here besides many others. Tirupati, Sricity and Chittor also have units coming up.Tamil Nadu is unlikely to do well in sectors like chemicals, petroleum & gas, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, mining & metal refining because of several historical faults of MNCs, lack of ecosystem, general distrust among the people and failure of govt to deal effectively with these sectors. Sterlite in Thoothukudi is best example.Automotive, IT, textiles, light machinery and leather products are the only sectors where it is still strong but several states are giving TN tough competition. Tourism and healthcare are also best in India but here again competition.TN will really have to do something big and catch a big fish (well renowned company) in these sectorsAerospaceDefenceFuture transportationMedical productsPorts, Shipbuilding and marine equipment.Otherwise it may have to play second fiddle to other states soon.
