The age of your child is not given, I’ll assume s/he is in grade school.If you speak with the child’s teacher, he/she should be able to tell you where to buy templates to practice writing letters. Also, a local children’s librarian should be able to suggest resources.There are workbooks for handwriting - it you have a good bookstore near you, especially a children’s bookstore, you’ll be able to find some in the Children’s Section. You may also be able to find them online.Improvement, as in anything, takes practicing. I would suggest rather than make your child do it alone, to sit with him and practice your own writing - I’m dead serious. You could turn it into a game.There are templates for adults as well - especially in Spencerian script which is becoming popular as a form of relaxation and even meditation for adults. You can find Spencerian templates online.Cursive is important for brain development. If you’re interested, there is a book called simply The Hand: How Its Use Shapes the Brain by Frank Wilson. Very interesting. Reviews on Amazon.

I read a review of one of the early Discworld books - probably The Light Fantastic - in the incomparable Dave Langford's Critical Mass column in White Dwarf, back when it was a general role playing games magazine and not the Games Workshop house magazine it became.Langford is one of the finest, and funniest, sci-fi and fantasy reviewers and he recommended Pratchett. Who am I to disagree?I enjoyed The Light Fantastic, although I was aware that I hadn’t read enough fantasy to get all the parodies. It wasn’t quite in Douglas Adams’ league, but it was enough for me to read The Colour of Magic (more of the same) and wait for the next book.Which was Equal Rites. It’s probably the least successful Discworld book, but also perhaps the most important. Pratchett went from writing a string of parodies of fantasy tropes to writing a proper novel with an actual plot, driven by something he was angry about. At this first attempt he didn’t quite get the balance right; the resolution doesn’t quite work and the humour is a bit intermittent. But it was close enough to suggest that he would get there.And he did with the next one: Mort. It was the first book to feature Death as a major character, and the first in which he had a plot up and running. It was also very, very funny, and the humour was organically part of the story. Pratchett had found his voice. I chose a hardback copy of Mort as my school academic prize that year, which drew some odd looks from the governors presenting it. It’s a decision I have never regretted.Sourcery, Wyrd Sisters and Pyramids followed in the same vein. All good, with Wyrd Sisters the only one that quite matched Mort (and significant for introducing Granny Weatherwax).And then there was Guards! Guards! For me, this is the first truly great Discworld novel. It’s the one in which he learned how to write multiple plot strands and weave them together, it introduced a whole host of his best characters, most importantly Sam Vimes, Havelock Vetinari, Sybil Ramkin and Carrot Ironfoundersson (found heading for Ankh Morpork with “all the openness, sincerity and innocence of purpose of an iceberg drifting into a major shipping lane.”), and it contained some of his best setpieces (how do you ensure that your last ditch million-to-one-chance actually is a million-to-one-chance? What happens when a swamp dragon eats a lot of metal and complex hydrocarbons?)Guards! Guards! set the template for a remarkable run of books, the highlights of which, for me, were Reaper Man, Men at Arms, Feet of Clay, Making Money and - especially - Small Gods. His later books - from Night Watch onwards - were better written and more thematically complex, but nothing quite channeled his anger into humour than the story of a god incarnated as a small tortoise and his one believer. (With one exception: his best book isn’t even a Discworld book. [1] Nation is set in an alternate universe British Empire, is aimed at “young adults”, enraged the religious right and is, for me, the best thing he wrote).Was I pleasantly surprised? I think you can safely say yes. I expected to enjoy them, but not that much. Parodies tend to run out of steam (pace Douglas Adams’ later Hitchhikers Books), but Pratchett found a much richer and deeper seam to mine in the fat deposits and burnt crispy bits of human nature. [2][1] And it’s not Good Omens either, though that is very, very good.[2] Note to those who haven’t read him: this is a reference.

Since launching my course in April, I’ve made nearly $10,000. Aside from making updates to the course, my only investment was the initial time I spent making the course (about three to four weeks of work because I repurposed a lot of my previous client work to make the course). And of course, I had to purchase a domain name and website hosting — both of which were a minimal investment.Course Tips and TricksTake other people’s courses to get inspiration for things like formatting and making sure your content is better than others.Start with the content first. Open a G-Doc, and start outlining your course. Don’t worry about technology until you have your content down.Launch your course before you finish. This will put a fire under your ass to get it done.To make a course successful, you’ll need an audience and/or marketing chops to drive people to it.Learn how to make a killer landing page that evokes emotion in people and drives them to buy.
