You can do what you like but I remove every one.I bought a car from a branded dealer a few years ago. They not only put their plate frame but their sticker on my car. Then I told them to remove those before I took delivery I got the line of: we do that on all cars we sell.Too bad for them, I said. I want them removed before I leave.Well, now that they are on there removing them will damage the paint.You have a body shop on the back side of the building to fix the paint.That will cost extra.No, it won't.At this point the sales manager gets involved telling me that all vehicles sold have their brand on them. They can't remove it unless it is going to auction.I guess it is going to auction then.At this point everyone was getting pissed off. They wanted free advertising at the expense of glueing crap to the back of my car. Finally, they removed their branding in a process that took all of three minutes and miraculously didn't damage the paint.

Having some contacts and experience in aviation safety, I did some research and found a number of supposed reasons, some of which make more sense than others. After consultation with fellow aviation industry friends, I think that in order of importance, these are the likely reasons:1) The lap belt is "safe enough" for the contingencies it's designed to accommodate.As Bala Senthil Kumar rightly points out, the purpose of the belt in an aircraft is entirely different than the purpose of a seat belt in a car. A car's sash belt is to protect you from hitting the steering wheel (or seat in front) in the event of a rapid deceleration. In an aircraft, a rapid deceleration is going to kill you, and the type of belt will make no difference.The purpose of the belt in an aircraft is to stop you from bouncing around during turbulence, and to hold you in your seat during an emergency landing.2) The seat is the weakest link.A sash belt, or 3- or 5-point belt has to have secure attachment points to the aircraft floor and superstructure. The seats on an aircraft are relatively flimsy, and ruggedising them to accommodate such a belt would have unacceptable practical implications. The cost would be huge (more expensive seats, and more importantly, they'd be larger, so you'd fit fewer seats in), and they'd be aesthetically unpleasing.3) Perception of safety / passenger psychology.Having rugged seats and more robust belts would cause the plane to look much less like conference seating and more like something designed for safety, which ironically, makes people feel less safe. When something's obviously designed for safety, people wonder whether they should be more concerned. (We human beings are interesting creatures.)4) Passenger compliance.Flight attendants have difficulty enough persuading passengers to wear a lap belt; presumably they'd have much greater difficulty getting passengers to wear a more restrictive belt.5) Possibility of entanglement.I disagree with some suggestions I've seen that more complex belts can be harder to remove in an emergency - all can be designed with a single point of release - but I do agree that more complex belts increase the risk of entanglement during a rapid egress.
