PDF Editor FAQ

For a resident alien individual having farm income in the home country, India, how to report the agricultural income in US income tax return? Does the form 1040 schedule F needs to be filled?

Yes farm income would be reported on Schedule F on a US tax return, even if the income is from a foreign country.

How am I taxed as a sole proprietorship LLC in the US?

If a single-member LLC does not elect to be treated as a corporation, the LLC is a "disregarded entity," and the LLC's activities should be reflected on its owner's federal tax return. If the owner is an individual, the activities of the LLC will generally be reflected on:Form 1040 Schedule C, Profit or Loss from Business (Sole Proprietorship)Form 1040 Schedule E, Supplemental Income or LossForm 1040 Schedule F, Profit or Loss from FarmingAn individual owner of a single-member LLC that operates a business is subject to the tax on net earnings from self employment in the same manner as a sole proprietorship. If the single-member LLC is owned by a corporation or partnership, the LLC should be reflected on its owner's federal tax return as a division of the corporation or partnership.

Are the owner and the company different entities if you have a disregarded LLC?

From a tax perspective, the IRS has given a clear answer. Clear answers from the IRS are rare - indeed, they are an endangered species -- so I'm providing it in full text:If a single-member LLC does not elect to be treated as a corporation, the LLC is a "disregarded entity," and the LLC's activities should be reflected on its owner's federal tax return. If the owner is an individual, the activities of the LLC will generally be reflected on:Form 1040 Schedule C, Profit or Loss from Business (Sole Proprietorship) (PDF)Form 1040 Schedule E, Supplemental Income or Loss (PDF)Form 1040 Schedule F, Profit or Loss from Farming (PDF)An individual owner of a single-member LLC that operates a trade or business is subject to the tax on net earnings from self employment in the same manner as a sole proprietorship. If the single-member LLC is owned by a corporation or partnership, the LLC should be reflected on its owner's federal tax return as a division of the corporation or partnership.Source: Single Member Limited Liability CompaniesNow then, this is for federal tax purposes only. For other purposes, such as exposure to liability, the separate existence of the LLC should be respected. But bear in mind that there are often ways of attacking the separate existence of an LLC or corporation, having principally to do with the concept that the entity is nothing but an "alter ego" of the individual. If all the above sounds complicated, that's because it is.So if this issue is of real import to you -- and it should be -- don't rely on the advice of internet strangers, who don't know all your facts or your local law.Hire an attorney or CPA and get the right answer. If you think that's too expensive, you are as wrong as you can be. What's expensive is not getting the right advice in the first place.

Seriously, spend your money somewhere else. I purchased a perpetual license. The software locks up, freezes and just does not do as advertised. Also, it upgrades automatically and then wants you to pay up or uninstall and reinstall the previous version you paid for. I spent $129.00 and I still dumped it, it was so bad.
