Not likely. Currently the German-French-Spanish Future Combat Air System is working on a next-generation fighter set to fly in 2040. Will it survive development? That remains to be seen. There is contension between France and Germany with regards to future marketing and opening the program to other participants.Currently France has the lead on the FCAS while Germany maintains the lead in the Main Ground Combat System aimed at building a common battle tank.The FCAS mock up at the 2019 Paris Air Show.Notice those small airframes?Taking a leaf from the pages of loyal wingman, etc. the consortium is looking at small fleet of attack and surveillance drones, or “remote carriers,” that would accompany each jet, and all elements would be interlinked by an artificial intelligence-powered combat cloud.

Gallaudet was established for Deaf students. However, for most of its history, Hearing people have been able to attend…as graduate students in the “normal” (teacher training) department, which was opened in 1891. Even though the college was established for Deaf students, and many of its graduates would be going on to teach in Deaf schools, due to pressure from Alexander Graham Bell, Deaf students were barred from enrolling in the teacher training program until 1960.In the year 2000, Gallaudet began the HUGS (Hearing Undergraduates) program which allows a small percentage (no more than 5% of the total enrollment each year) of Hearing students who have a special interest and motivation for attending a university for Deaf students, although prior to this time, Gallaudet did occasionally allow a VERY select few Hearing students to enroll as “special students” for a semester or two.Even so, Gallaudet remains primarily a university whose prime mission is to serve Deaf students. According to Gallaudet’s website, currently, there are 1,129 undergraduate students and 449 graduate students, plus 45 students enrolled in the English Language Institute and the Consortium Program (where students from adjoining area universities can take courses at other affiliated universities). Of the HUGS students, Gallaudet states there were 82 (representing 7 percent of new undergraduate enrollment) and anticipates this to increase to 153 in 2019. (Hmmm…..)
