My partner and I ran into this issue several months ago at an upscale steak restaurant.The BackstoryThree mid-30s women accompanied by a group of young children were having drinks and dinner in the main dining room.The women, who appeared to be the mothers or close relatives of the kids, were very busy drinking cocktails, eating, laughing and chatting.Meanwhile, one of the young children was screaming at the top of his lungs and his parent, seemed to be completely ignoring him.Two of the other children were running and screaming through the entire restaurant, bumping into the servers and other tables of diners.Again, the parents seemed oblivious to what their kids were doing.Upset Restaurant Patrons At Adjacent TablesSeveral of the patrons at adjacent tables and around the restaurant were getting visibly upset at the ruckus.The table right next to us called the manager over to their table to ask for some sort of immediate resolution.What did the manager say?He said “all patrons of all ages are welcome in our establishment I apologize for any inconvenience, but unfortunately I’m not able to speak to the other patrons about their children.”Diners Storming Out Of The Restaurant In ProtestThe table of diners next to us immediately stormed out of the restaurant, as did others in the vicinity of the screaming children.Whether it was the children’s mothers or other caretakers, they either didn’t notice or care that other restaurant patrons were very upset by their kids.A Very Touchy SituationThe reality? This is a very difficult situation on many sides.If the restaurant management does speak to the partners of the disruptive children they risk angry customers.If the patrons in the restaurant speak directly to the parents, it could trigger an altercation.Altercations over misbehaving children in restaurants have actually occurred in the past and made media headlines.If the management of the restaurant doesn’t take some action, they risk angering all their other customers and losing immediate and possibly long term business.What Is The Winning Solution?Is there a win/win solution?I have empathy for everyone in this situation. Parents need a night out to have fun.Babysitters can be very expensive and potentially untrustworthy. Family members may not be readily available to help out.However, maybe parents with kids prone to misbehaving in public restaurants should not take them out for dinner until they are older or better at being out in public.Only Going To Child Friendly RestaurantsOr maybe parents should only take their kids who are known to misbehave to locations which are kid friendly where there are lots of other children present.Of course it’s only right to immediately get up and leave the dining establishment if you take children who scream, cry and disrupt other diners.There really is no easy solution, but certainly other diners take a risk if they speak to the parents of a screaming child.Restaurant managers are in a similar pickles.If there is a great Universal solution I would certainly love to hear it, but so far, I presented what I know to be the best answers when a screaming child is ruining a meal.This advice goes for parents of the child, restaurant managers and other patrons.DISCLAIMER: I neither sell nor promote any companies, their products, nor do I have any online shopping outlet of my own to promote. I’m working in the corporate world for the last 15 years. So let me give you a small exampleConsider Person A who is a woman. She is hard working with excellent qualifications and track record, she is always on time and dedicated to work. She also has a conscience and would NEVER falsely accuse anyone of anything. These type of people are the majority, say 80 pct amongst women.Consider Person B who is a man. He is also hard working with excellent qualifications and examplary job record. Also he is a very decent man of good character. These type of people are also the majority, say 80 pct amongst men.Consider Person C who is a woman. She is lazy, always creating a ruckus, passing responsibilities, avoiding work with no qualifications to speak of and poor job record. She also has no conscience, no empathy and would readily falsely accuse anyone to get what she wants. Such type of people are the minority.Now consider a situation where all three are candidates for promotion of a single post. C falsely accuses B of harassing her and makes a big fuss about it. Company decides to investigate the matter, anyway B is out of the race.Now the competition is between C and A. Surely, A is all set to get the promotion because she is the more deserving candidate. Everyone knows that.BUTYou see, C is now a victim of harassment right, she is a survivor, she is brave and she is a champion of women’s rights(at least that is what people will think about her in this victims world, until the charges are proven false). So the emotional benefit as well as waves of sympathy and empathy goes for her and so does the promotion.The end result, out of three candidates, the worst gets the promotion, because she has no conscience and chose to misuse metoo.I think THIS is what is wrong with metoo, because there is no recourse against people like C.Also the solution for this is simple, both A and B have to raise their voices and create a ruckus, instead of tamely conceding defeat. People like C have always existed and they always will and movements like metoo will embolden these opportunistic freaks, but it is the duty of good and honest people to stop them.Sorry if I went off topic. To answer the question, yes, some men are indeed afraid to mentor women and it is only due to such opportunistic people.

I have been spread out on an Air Force ramp with a whole cache of loaded automatic weapons pointed right at my heart because they thought I might be trying to steal a jet. I think my story about that day will deter you.But first, your idea has brought to my mind one of the most famous movie dialogs of all time, Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry.“You've got to ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya’ punk?”Now, that dirtiest of all Harrys was only talking about whether he had one bullet left or no bullets left. Your plan makes that punk’s decision seem like child’s play.Let’s see how many ways you have to “feel lucky, punk.”GETTING ON BASEJust getting on a base and up to the flight line could get you shot before you even get very close. Do you feel lucky?GETTING OUT ON THE FLIGHT LINEOut on the ramp, you’ll make an excellent target to a bunch of trained marksmen with automatic weapons who are authorized to shoot to kill to protect U.S. aircraft. These are a bunch of young guys who feel that their whole careers will be a waste if all they ever do is shoot at practice targets.Feel free to “make my day” as the most exciting target they’ve ever shot at—and you’ll be the first target that will get them a promotion for hitting. And there is zero chance that any one of them has only one bullet left. Do you feel lucky?WHICH AIRCRAFT?At any given moment, there might be only a handful of planes on a military ramp that are fueled and ready to go. Many will be non-flyable due to maintenance issues. The airworthy jets will not be fueled, as they sit and await the required fuel load for the next mission.So, you have to hope you get one that has fuel and will actually start. Do you feel lucky?HOW DO YOU GET IT STARTED?Do you feel lucky?Doesn’t matter. You couldn’t get it started without help.I ABSOLUTELY FELT LUCKYWhen I was a young pilot in the Presidential Wing at Andrews Air Force Base, I had been flying Executive One Foxtrot flights, which is the call sign used when members of the First Family are onboard. My wing operations officer called me into his office to offer me a step up to fly Air Force Two, which was a VC-9C. We had three of them. Walter Mondale was VP.I was pretty psyched and wanted to go out and walk through the cabin and sit in the cockpit. The wing commander made a couple of calls, then gave me a tail number I was cleared to go to—it looked exactly like this as I floated across the ramp.Just so you’ll know, this was my base, my wing, my ramp, and I was wearing my uniform and security knew I was on my way and which aircraft I was going to.I went out and bounded up those steps with the most joyous of joy. I could hardly believe how lucky I felt.First, I went back and sat in Mondale’s chair. Being just 28 years old, I could hardly believe how lucky I felt.Then I went up front and strapped into the left seat. This was going to be cool. I could hardly believe how lucky I felt.But even though I thought I had a clearance worked out directly between two colonels—the wing commander and the head of security for Andrews—the aircraft was quickly surrounded and I found myself looking down the barrels of a whole forest of steely black barrels. That’s when I realized that now I really, really needed to be lucky just to become 29 years old!I was invited to exit the cockpit, come down the stairs, and prostrate myself, face down, upon the pavement.I was really, really hoping that none of those young lads was hoping to get his ass promoted for shooting the guy who had boarded Air Force Two. I was pretty sure some of them had seen me over the years and that somewhere in the back of their brains they thought shooting me might be a bad idea. Again, I was hoping my luck would hold up.My face was on the tarmac for surely no longer than a minute or two before the colonel who headed security raced across the ramp in his personal staff car and waved off all of them. He profusely apologized to me.HOW COULD THAT HAPPEN?It was a simple thing. After the wing commander called the head of security and arranged my clearance to go out, the head of security was about to pick up the phone to alert the flight line security chief that I’d be coming out, and he got another call and forgot to call the flight line.Since the wing commander’s office was right on the flight line, and since I was like a little kid who had just been given the keys to the candy store, I was out the door and onto the ramp in a flash.Now, mind you, I was perfectly authorized to be on that ramp. The aircraft I regularly flew were parked right by the VC-9C and if I had simply walked by it and out to my own aircraft, things would have been fine.Luckily, the head of security saw the ruckus on the ramp through his window and immediately and personally came to my rescue.So, that’s what can happen when I was already on the base, where I also lived full time, carrying credentials to be on the flight line, in my uniform, and the ramp was guarded by armed airmen who knew me.As far as they knew, all I did was go to the wrong aircraft—which was all it took to trigger the armed response.So, “Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya’ punk?”
