I am a JEE 2020 aspirant. I have completed my Physics part and so, you can trust me on this.HC Verma at present is NOT sufficient for JEE level Physics. Now, before you start commenting things like“Bruh.. how can you say that?”“It's the Bible of Physics bruh.. ““It's the best Physics book in the Universe..” and all, kindly read this answer fully.In 11th standard, almost every aspirant buys this godbook and although it is good for Mechanics, for Electrodynamics, Opticals and Modern Physics, this book is not at all sufficient.In 12 standard, a topper friend of mine brought a 10 year old edition of HC Verma at school. I was shocked to see that the whole book was same as the latest edition I bought in 2018.It has been popular according to me for only one main reason as stated by Namo Kaul in a video.. it’s very small and concise.While it is still relevant for Understanding Physics (especially for JEE Main level) you require another book for mastering Physics upto Advanced level and that book is..*drumrolls please*you guessed it right..Understanding Physics by DC PandeyThis book has complete theory explained properly and higher level problems for practice.Further, you can skip HC Verma and directly start with this book.These views are mine and any suggestions, feedbacks or criticism are welcome..Thanking you for giving your time.Soham Verma.

During Desert Storm, BB64 Wisconsin scored a direct hit on a T72 right in the heavy part of the turret armor. The projectile was an 1850 lb high capacity (HC/HE). Slightly less than half a turret was observed by pioneer ucav spotter drone departing the blast area at high velocity. Said turret was located over 700 meters from the impact point.There were several tanks parked in close proximity that were all destroyed but I can't say for certain that turret chunk came from the one hit.As a 16″ GunnersMate I can assure you any tank and crew would very neatly meet eternity should even an HC or the mk 8 2700 lb AP meet a tank square. Because it was there.HC was half a generation older fighter than Spitfire, and it first flew in 1935. It meant it had been in production already for a long time before Supermarine was a mature product.Developing a fighter is a lengthy and arduous process, and it asks for design, prototyping and testing. But once you have a mature product, you can churn out them off the production line quickly and relatively cheap.Sydney Camm began the design of HC in 1933 on basis of Hawker Fury. The British Air Ministry ordered the prototype in early 1935, and the proto first flew in late 1935. It was pretty much mature, and serial production began in June 1936. It meant the aircraft factories had now tools, molds, jigs and other stuff for mass producing HC, and the most expensive phase of the fighter lifespan - design - was over.Reginald Mitchell began designing Spitfire in 1935 after the Supermarine seaplane. The first flight was in early 1936, but there were difficulties; the elliptic wing was difficult and expensive to manufacture, the assembly line would be complex and the manufacture would be labour intensive. The first serial production Spitfires rolled out in early 1938, but the production was slow and disorganized.To put a complex answer short: HC was there, it was already in mass production, it shared the same engine, propeller and armament as Spitfire, it was cheaper, it was simpler to operate and easier to overhaul, maintain and rearm. Moreover, it was not remarkably worse in performance than Spitfire.The real reason why Spitfire superseded HC was Spitfire simply offered more development potential than HC. While it was much more complex, more difficult to manufacture, more expensive and more complicated to HC, it could (and would) be equipped by all the more powerful engines and propellers and weapons.Yet the factories churned out HC at more swifter pace than Spitfire. The mass production was underway, and HC was cheap. HC quickly superseded GL and BU on front-line squadrons.Tables turned only in 1941. The development potential of HC had been used up, and now the production of Spitfire was well underway and the bottlenecks of the mass production had been ground off. Spitfire quickly superseded HC at home front, and later in Africa, Greece and Far East.Yet HC found yet another life - in the use of Fleet Air Arm. While HC did not have the performance of Corsair and while it had all the ditching properties of a submarine, it was well suited for shipboard use. Its performance was good enough and it had sturdy landing gear. It could take off on a short runway, and land even without tailhook - and installing a tailhook was a simple procedure. Sea Hurricane remained in the use of the Fleet Air Arm until the end of the war; the broadside of Sea Hurricane Mk. IIc could pierce the pressure hull of a submarine.
