You can take the MLS exam and become a scientist.As a transfer strategy, this is probably a very bad idea for several reasons: 1) your MLT courses won’t transfer and you will have to retake them in your MLS program - so, you are essentially wasting 18 months of your life except for the phlebotomy training course - which you could have done earlier; 2) you need to take a lot of community college courses in order to get very few transfer credits. For instance, if you were trying to transfer from the MLT program at Folsom Lake College to the CLS program at CSU Dominguez Hills you would need to take a 15-credit three course sequence of biology courses with a lab to get credit for a two semester eight credit sequence at CSU-DH. If you want to get an associates degree (why) or complete lower lever core requirements, plan on another 1–2 semesters. It’s a really inefficient way to go.If you are open to joining the Army Reserve and serving at Walter Reed, the Army will pay for you to get an associates degree and an MLT certification and then let you use that skill part-time in Bethesda, MD. I don’t know if that job is open at MEPS, but if so, that is a great find. From there you can finish your degree at George Washington University - the Army has a pathway for this. The answer is probably no, but it depends on how you assess quality.LEVEL: Few community colleges are allowed to grant BA degrees, so they are usually limited to AA degrees and career certificates. In California, only about a half dozen CCs can offer BAs (and only in specialized fields like fire science), whereas the CSUs are limited to BAs and masters degrees (with a few exceptions for the Ed.D.) and it is only the UC campuses that offer doctoral, medical and law degrees.CONTENT: CCs must maintain articulation agreements with the state university system, so the content of General Psychology needs to be the same whether it is taught at a CC, CSU or UC in order for the course to transfer inter-segmentally.INSTRUCTORS: Here CCs may be superior.
