PDF Editor FAQ

Would you recommend Engineering programs at North Carolina State University? Why or why not?

Of course I must say that we are the best. I recommend that you come here because state will give you a top quality engineering education, we use nothing but the golden metric system here and they give you an opportuniy to let your mathematical abilities shine, if you have some to speak of that are above your compatriots. If you can use a transformation matrix in dynamics when your colleagues have not touched one of those things in a couple of years they are not going to stop you. Our libraries are stocked full of powerful resources with which to fuel your passions and inspire you to continue. I for one actually learned how to do transformation matricies on my own by reading a book on it from our libraries. It gave me the upper hand. Again your teachers will not stop you.hater: "you cant do that!"me: "Im an NCSU engineering student I can do anything."they'll make you into this kind of engineer:"On the blank side of the engineering paper, one problem per page please."A monster. Devoid of a soul. The icy hand of death to an engineering problem. Some might say its a wild ride, some might say its a friggin circus over here. But I have to warn you that you have a 50% chance of finding a professor that will challenge you in the right way that will make you grow professionally, if you do not find this person, teachers with bad reputations (in a good way, for being too hard) you may struggle in your latter courses whose prereqs depend on it. There is a ten percent chance that you will meet a teacher that is a bad apple who honestly doesnt care about you or who is honestly inappropriate in a very unprofessional way. I have to warn you that our thermo classes, 160 people in a semester is currently being proctored by only one single professor and I do not believe that this person gives an appropriate treatment of that the most famous course in the world, thermo 1 (i must warn you that my standards and expectations are extremely high, I will ding a prof on the end of semester dots for not rubbing me the right way [and that is extremely roughly]). Not to be professionally defamatory, she must by definition be a killer prof. NCSU hires only the best professors. but how good can a situation be if all the eggs rest ontop of a single egg at the bottom. There used to be a professor, my shining idol, of whom I am a disciple who taught thermo 1. you cannot take him for thermo 1 anymore because he is not availible for that class. He gave me the solid method by which you can attack all engineering problems that you will meet after that class. had I had not gone through his class I would have been kicked out for poor academic performance. But this teacher (message me and ill give you his name so you can hit him up for the golden lesson on how to attack engineering problems, mention my name and ask for "his 5-7 step method" he'll open up to you for sure) was "too hard" for most people, people said he was unfair. Those people have something wrong with them that they cant take a hit to their gpa if it is a price to pay for recieving in my opinion the best engineering education in the entire college curriculum (they have proven that they will not actually pay any real price to recieve a good education, you will be surrounded by these types of people, you will be surrounded by people who disrespect their teachers and who take academic success for granted. it is only rare that you will find a true dyed in the wool killer, a man who carries an RPN HP calculator and sits up front). The treatment of the topic is not as good as it used to be (at least by my standards of rigor and excellence [unfair expectations]) and the faculty for that class is possibly overtaxed and overstressed. When you take thermo 1 here at state, a very critical class, you will have no option but to take a course that probably gives a very impersonal learning experience and may or may not prepare you to actually stand on your own and fight your own battles with your own personal projects. how personal can an experience be if the student population for a course is so large that a human being cant remember the faces? If you come here, do not expect to be surrounded by truly passionate prodigies (who make nuclear reactors at home or hack into critical government databases) that you hear get accepted into MIT. We are mostly people who got in because of their high IQ's, not because of their will or desire to use that IQ to actually be creative. What a bunch of chumps. But our WISE (women in science and engineering) and title 9 systems are very powerful, if you are a woman engineering student help is never far away. we take good care of our female student population. Our disabilities services are top notch and you will not be kicked out of state for going to get help at a counselors office, this is not that kind of college.I have to warn you that the barrier to entry into the MAE department is a 3.5 GPA currently and it doesnt look like its going to go down any time soon. You must maintain a 2.5 minimum gpa in order to take MAE courses. and if you fail a single name of a course three times in a row, they will kick you out of engineering entirely. This policy is a recent ex post facto law that was placed into effect a year or so ago. I have to warn you that a barrier to entry into any engineering is a 1hr credit course called E115 (introduction to computer science) with a 3 strikes policy that you will have to take that is actually harder than thermo. The head of that department is an overstressed professor who is so overloaded with students to take care of that she cannot remember your name (but she is a good person and if you follow her lead you will learn a thing or two). I would suggest that you learn how to use UNIX before coming here and taking that course you must learn how to sftp into a server from a linux or mac terminal. I would suggest that you become really good with excel before coming here. I have to warn you that there is no such thing as an easy fluff course here in state and that while it is possible to get solid A's in a college like UNCW 2hrs away in your calculuses, those solid A's will turn into C's if taken at state. I have to tell you that if you cannot get into MAE the only option is something called BAE or agro-mech, whose curriculum is 70% MAE and the rest is worms and dirt. its not that bad and they teach you about the environment n' s***. The barrier to entry into BAE is currently possibly a 2.9 GPA. message me and Ill tell you who the best teacher in the BAE faculty is and why you should take him/her. This is a very large campus and it is very beautiful, they have a free bus system that runs from 9am or so to 5pm or so.I have to warn you that they have taken our books away from our lovely northern campus library and they have shoved them into a vault where you have to ask for single books at a time and a robot will come grab them for you. While very efficient and convenient this removes the experience of sleeping in the quiet stacks amongst books that mean something to you. it removes the experience of browsing and smelling the books. I have to warn you that our new southern library has no bathrooms or source of water on its third floor depite the fact that it is the most popular floor and the fact that the building costed over 100million dollars and was designed with only the highest technologies availible.I have to warn you that the headquarters for webassign is in this college, what a waste of time and resources for such a scourge and blight on the face of education. thankfully this pathology has not reached the doorsteps of engineering proper, but I must warn you that this lump of horse puckey has indeed reached every single aspect of the college experience here, and so if you do not like distance ed courses and chatting in forums even for courses that you actually attend lectures for. If you cannot handle submitting your mathematics homework electronically then DO NOT COME HERE.Dont get me wrong. if you come here and take our engineering courses you WILL get your money's worth. you will recieve amongst the best education on the subjects availible in the united states outside of MIT. but its how you feel about what should be your cornerstone classes that is important. but you will not recieve an MIT grade treatment of the subject. (but it is ultimately up to you to make it MIT grade, you are the one bringing intensity to the table. just because you ace the subject doesnt mean that you can do anything with it. that is your fault, not the college's.) This is not a charity college, if you slip up they'll run you over and not look back, you'll have to sacrifice a piece of your soul and your health to get that diploma.me: at least they have the common decency to lead you to the top from square 1. a little bit of spoon feeding action.buddy: I love being spoon fed dude.me: It almost makes sitting next to MIT dropouts bearable.buddy: LOL
