PDF Editor FAQ

Do I have to pay child support to my ex if I earn substantially more than him, but have the children 60-70% of the time? And should I pay the entire daycare costs?

Your state will have a formula for determining child support. In Colorado, the worksheet is freely downloadable from the state court website. You can download a similar worksheet for your state and start with that.If you want to challenge the automatic calculations, you’ll need to consult an attorney.

I pay $740 in child support, and the mother doesn’t use all of the money on my kid. She drives a new car, and my son always wears old clothes. What can I do?

It will depend on your state, but most states allow child support to be used for *anything* that could support the child. Please, if you are in the United States, PLEASE, do NOT stop paying your child support and just buy your son what you think he needs in an amount equal to your child support and try to submit receipts as if you paid child support. Most states/counties/regions will prosecute you for every penny you owe your co-parent, and they will come after you for their percentage of “handling fees” or whatever, and they will come after you for late fees, and you and your son will be in a much worse position. If you don’t want to pay child support and want to instead supply your son with an equal value of property that he can take between your homes, then you have to go to court, amend the support order, and get that in writing.Your child support is not intended to cover 100% of the child’s needs. It is intended to cover your minimum portion of the child’s needs while the child is not in your direct care. Essentially, it is expected that at least $1480 of what enters your co-parent’s bank account every month (or whatever you guys worked out: I made so much less than my co-parent, that I pay 30% of our boys’ support, so my co-parent should be able to prove about $1850 in expenses toward the boys each month, for example) will be spent on support for your child. It is up to her to decide what determines support. Also, there is usually no requirement that the money be spent on him *now*. She could put every penny of your child support into a 529 for him, and then he gets it when he goes to college, and that is just fine legally.I don’t like that my co-parent just posted on Facebook about buying a $1200 computer on a whim, and then complains that my child-support payments are too low for the boys’ needs. (They may in fact be too low, but he doesn’t want to provide receipts to prove, or even estimates for, the boys’ needs, so I have no idea how much to contribute. We go by the state worksheet because he won’t work out a budget with me.)Do I like it? NO. Is it just or fair? Not always. Is it legal? YES.

I want to learn more about the religion "Wicca" and start doing magic. Where do I start? What kind of spells?

Firstly, leave that white/black magick thing at the door, please. A tool is a tool. It is neither good nor evil, neither white nor black. One great resource if there are no groups near you is Witch School. The site is dated and the "library" is laughable but the Corellians do have a decent support structure. There are a few things I believe you could do. One is wait to cast magic. If you are a minor still, many groups will not accept you due to legal liability. Your parents could sue them for a multitude of reasons, after all. They can be held responsible if you get hurt or get slapped with Attributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.First is to write down:What do I want out of this? What do you REALLY want? Rebellion? Control over your life? A means to popularity? To stand away from the crowd? It may sound silly or condescending but people come in with those aims and are completely insufferable towards others, earning the nickname fluffy bunny or McWiccan. If these are your aims, Wicca is not for you. It may sound harsh, but you will never find these things if that is what you seek outside yourself.Now. Do you seek beauty? To be closer to nature? To know the divine personally? To celebrate the world you live in and learn more of this world? To understand yourself and the role you have in relation to the world? With diligence, yes. This can be yours. This new way of seeing the world can be yours. The first thing to know is what are the reliable books? What are not? What are some danger signs to look for? Some authors to rely on are Raymond Buckland and Scott Cunningham for the beginning basics. Isaac Bonewits was an amazing man. They will have very different points of view but they are useful to beginners. They will help guide you through the learning process. The Gospel of Aradia is a fascinating read as well and almost required reading. Witch School has a wonderful First Degree course and makes you take your time and study. Drawing Down the Moon by Margot Adler is a fantastic read as well. There are authors to avoid and those to take a very large grain of salt with. To Ride a Silver Broomstick and anything by that author is absolutely trash. As is Encyclopedia of Women's Secrets. They are hogwash and not trustworthy. Any book that talks about an unbroken line of witches should be looked at with suspicion. The tale of hidden witches going back to Neolithic time is debunked. Any book that talks about harming others or love spells or guaranteed spells is likely not to be what you should be reading. (Unless it is to invite love into your life.)So what are some good resources for watching out for? Check out Isaac Bonewits' site, which includes his Cult Danger Evaluation Form, which is a fantastic worksheet for determining if a group may be dangerous. No leader should be unquestionable or infallible. They are not god or goddess on earth in literal terms. They may ask for some secrecy but discrimination does exist and some, if their religion was made public could stand to lose their job, their children or even possibly their life at the worst case scenario.I beg of you. Give yourself a year and a day of learning. Find a mentor if you can. Don't get romantically involved with them if you can help it.And if you are underage, use the time while you are to learn and explore. It's what that stage of life is for.And merry meet, fellow witch. When you are ready.
