With the EBT cards, they don’t particularly post a list of all the grocery stores that take them online, simply because millions of stores in the United States takes them and you can also take your card with you out of state and use it in another one as well (for example, you decided to travel and visit family members). I went to California and used my EBT card from Ohio out there. However going out of state with it is tricky in itself. California, Arizona, and a select few other states allow you to use your EBT cards in fast food joints if you are homeless, but it only works with EBT cards issued from those states and if you meet the criteria. Giant Eagle, Cost-Co, Sam’s Club, etc. With dollar stores and gas stations, its hit and miss. Some dollar stores and gas stations do not meet the 1/3rd food product ratio for them to and you’d have to check on the entrance of the doors to see if there is signage on it that says they accept the EBT card.With WIC on the other hand, all states have a PDF posted online as to which stores take them. They’re able to compile the list easily because the eWIC card can’t be used out of state and because the federal government has tighter controls as to where it can be used and which retailer contracts with them. The other reason why you can’t use WIC in other states but you’re own home state is because there are items that might be available to local markets that are WIC approved but might not be sold in your home state if you do decide to travel and to avoid any confusion they barred using WIC cards in other states. Then again with the advancement of computers, one would think that they’d share databases with one another so it could be easier. Then again, the federal government is slow to catch up on technology. That sucks having to buy formula from one state and taking it with you and praying the TSA won’t confiscate it, lol.

Needles, CA a very small desert town.It's population was at its highest when I lived there just over 5,000 people.There is a reason this is the only image you ever see of Needles.First the weather is a literal hell in the summer.In winter the normal high temperatures range from 62 °F (17 °C) to 80 °F (27 °C) with lows of 40 °F (4 °C) to 60 °F (16 °C). During summer the normal high temperatures range from 106 °F (41 °C) to 122 °F (50 °C) with lows of 82 °F (28 °C) to 94 °F (34 °C). Annual rainfall is about 5.11 inches (130 mm).Yes you read that right, in the summer it doesn't get colder than 82 °F (28 °C).The buildings are old and falling apart last time I saw it 3-4 years ago. Once upon a time the city had really only three types of residents.The fairly well off Railroad workers. Needles is a change out point for relief crews on the Railroad.The people that provide services for residents including food, groceries, clothing and household stuff, education, police, medical and fire.Welfare recipients. My mother specifically moved to Needles because she had two children one of them an infant and would get good welfare benefits there. She was able to get Food Stamps, Aid to Families with Dependent Children, WIC, hotel vouchers for free housing until we had a place to stay and eventually section 8 housing.Now you might say why here, she could do that anywhere. The payout for the AFDC and Food stamps was based on California's high cost of living but Needles had a low cost of living similar to its closer Arizona neighbors. This meant that the payout for those services let people live fairly comfortably on welfare. We were not eating sirloin but we were never starving either. We lived far better than we could anywhere else on welfare. we were not alone there were many people living in the exact same conditions. There was a huge community housing project for low income housing directly across the street from the sheriffs department. Due to my mom's section 8 HUD we lived in one of the better apartment complexes.When I lived there we only had 2 stoplights in the town. We had a KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, Thrifty's and Bashas supermarket. There were many bars and no movie theater could stay in business for more than a year.The only activity was to go down and get drunk and play in the river. That's really my only memories that are pleasant. Being a kid and slipping into the cold 46-52 °F water when it was over 100 °F outside to play. Sadly despite being within eyeshot we didn't do this often enough. The Colorado River comes from Snow runoff and is constantly moving and has several deep dams so it never has time to warm up. This means it is cold year round.
