She had severely broken company policy (profiting from it, too), but the meeting was simply for her to stop making demeaning attacks on me with other people in the company. I never attacked anyone. I was the top producer, a rule follower, and the most highly-rated (and paid) salesperson there. I am a middle-aged woman, also. The GM turned this around and made me sign a “strike 3” statement that I had personally attacked a coworker!! (There was no strike 1 or 2…)A week later, same GM and his General Sales Manager came to me with a sticky note of information saying, “you will be perfect to deal with this customer” who had just spent 20 minutes reaming my co-worker. I took it as a compliment (thinking water-under-the-bridge with GM) and dealt with the customer in a friendly, positive manner and it wasn't until later that evening, the other coworker asked me about my interaction with the irate customer. I told her it went well and I had no problems. She then told me the GM had stated that I “would shut her down!” I approached the GM the next day to ask what he meant. He stammered and came to my office later that day to try to sort it again. Extending an,olive branch, I brushed it off and said I was sure it was a miscommunication.Later that week, I was in the middle of a record day (almost four sales) and I was called into the GM's office. A customer who threw a fit because she couldn't get another temporary tag or her plates at the DMV had called me “unprofessional.” (WTF? I was friends with this lady and had nothing to do with the DMV or her plates.) I was asked to sign a 4th strike - suspension without pay. (I paid myself a draw, as I was straight commission, so I was more concerned about my customers, who were left dangling with other salespeople.) I asked the GM if he was firing me, knowing I was going on my first vacation in 2 years in a few days. He said he didn't know.I was fired the day before my vacation, denied unemployment, and have had no income for 3 months. After having paid over $22k for benefits and taxes in the 10 months of 2018, during which I never took time off to even get a check-up or visit the eye-doctor, I have NOTHING. I had a dozen or so custom orders in my desk, cars I'd be paid the most on within the next three months - the time it takes to receive a custom order. I am scared to work in the industry again, despite the six-figure income, because I did nothing wrong but was terminated. You cannot sue most of these companies for wrongful termination, either, because to work for them, you sign an arbitration agreement, which means their corporate middle management will decide your fate and they will always protect their own. Recruiters/employers are shying away from my resume because of the termination. (I don't lie, but I don't give the details, either.) So, I am having to move in with a friend, give up one or two of my three small pets (my whole life), turn in a lease on a luxury vehicle early and take a chance on paying up to $20k in auction loss, and use my savings to pay down my bills until I get a job at less than half of the income.All because I always did the right thing and it questioned the ethics of a younger male superior.Update: Stop trolling, commenters. Jobs that you are really good at and match 90% of your needs aren't always abundant. I relocated to a small city to be near family. I tried my hand at this new industry and found it was wonderful. I never had a clue until AFTER THE FACT that I had a target on my back. The next most similar job is between 1.5 and 4.5 hours away and if I am going to move AWAY from family, I will go to a less potentially (and proven) hostile environment. I have ALWAYS been successful and I will get over it, but the fact is, I did nothing wrong and lost A LOT because someone didn't like getting called out for being SCHEISTY and a Fortune company backed him. Stop trolling and just move along if you think I am lying.

Most states actually have online the ability to get new temporary tags these days, you simply go online enter some information about you and the vehicle and pay a small fee and you can print out a temporary tag. These can be good anywhere from a week to a month depending on the state. The idea is you should get to the motor vehicle division ASAP and get the title transferred and your new plates.
