There are some easy ways to check adulteration in common food items in our kitchen.MilkAdulterant : detergentTake a sample of milk (5ml), add same quantity of water and shake the contents thoroughly. If dense lather is formed, milk is adulterated.Ghee/ButterAdulterant - StarchAdd 2-3 drops of iodine in half teaspoon of ghee/butter. Formation of blue color indicates presence of potato and other starch.Coconut oilAdulterant - Other oilsRefrigerate coconut oil in freezer for 30 minutes.If it is adulterated, other oils form a separate layer.HoneyAdulterant - Sugar solutionAdd a drop of honey to a glass of water. If the honey disperses, it indicates presence of sugar.Sugar/Pithi sugar/ jaggeryAdulterant - Chalk powderDissolve 10g of sample in water. The chalk powder ,if present , will settle down at bottom.Food grainsAdulterant - Added colorAdd 2 teaspoons of foodgrains in water and mix thoroughly. If solution is bright in color and leaves color immediately, it is adulterated.Green chili/Green vegetablesAdulterant - Malachite green(colored dye)Rub outer surface of vegetable with cotton soaked in water.If cotton turns green, the sample is adulterated.Ice creamAdulterant - Washing powderIf ice cream starts to froth on adding few drops of lemon juice, it indicates detergent is present.Mustard SeedsAdulterant - Argemone seedsCrush or press a few seeds and check them. I do a variety of things when I travel. There are times I travel just to soak in the different sights, smells, and cuisine of a place and there are times, I just travel to relax, sit by the beach, and sip cocktails.I travel fairly often to new countries and it’s typically with my husband or with members of the family. It’s probably not very experimental because I like travelling with people I know really well. That includes my best friend too with whom I have travelled a few times.When I travel to soak in the different sights, smells, and cuisine of a place, the following is what I do :Make sure my hotel is in the centre of the city.Try to walk as often as I can to explore different lanes and bylanes of the city.Do some homework beforehand on the places that I want to visit, in that city.Sample some local cuisine after taking recommendations from the locals (Of course, depending on the ingredients that I like)Visit all the important landmarks first.Follow it up by visiting the city’s hidden gems, and other local recommendations.Click lots of pictures (#SorryNotSorry)Depending on the city I am in, I explore the nightlife in cities/places that are well known for it like Amsterdam, Monaco etc.When I travel to just relax, then it’s fairly simple. I book us into a super fun hotel (Mostly a really fun beach hotel), get a spa and salon appointment, sit by the beach, relax, sip some cocktails, and shop a bit too.My most recent holiday was over last weekend, and I’d say it was a bit of both the above types at the French Riviera and Monaco.That’s us at the beautiful French Riviera! :)

I made the other choice, but I can tell you why you'd want to go to Princeton.If the Ivy League appeals to you, Princeton is the Iviest of them all. There's a famously tight-knit alumni network, including old-money families who have sent their offspring there for generations. Everything there is about giving the best experience possible for their undergraduates. Nothing is too good for them. If money can buy it, they have it. The crew team needs somewhere to practice? Let's build them a lake. The science majors need research experience? Let's build them a world-class research program, complete with professors and grad students to supervise their projects, where the focus is on smaller-scale problems that are well suited for an undergrad working 10-15 hours per week for a couple of years. Seriously, no one does the Ivy thing better than Princeton, and I don’t even think it’s close.MIT is a research university. There are students, and you'll get a great education in any STEM discipline, but that's not really their #1 priority. MIT cares about being known as the place where people are inventing the future. They want to do research that looks good in a press release. You will learn, because you're scrambling to keep up with people who are really freaking good at what they do, but it can be rough. There's a reason behind the unofficial motto, IHTFP: that's "I have truly found paradise" or "I hate this f**king place", and it's commonly a superposition of both.It's a different experience. In particular, if you're still figuring out what you want from life, go to Princeton. MIT is a bad idea unless you're genuinely excited about what it has to offer. If Princeton is a luxury spa resort, MIT is a shabby old gym; there's not much there besides squat racks, barbells, and people who could bench-press your car. You don't go to that gym unless you have a specific goal in mind, and you're prepared to suffer for it.So why didn't I apply to Princeton? To put it bluntly, I went to a competitive high school, and I knew a lot of people who went to Princeton. They weren't my people. Many were nice, and I considered some of them friends, but still. The non-legacies were bright and conscientious people who were doing exactly what was expected of them - but you got the sense that they didn't know why. Varsity sports, all-state band, student government, maybe a quirky hobby picked out for them by some consultant, and none of it made their eyes light up. (The legacies? Okay, small sample size, but they were insufferable and/or stupid.)I was a science-loving weirdo who'd been obsessed with bioengineering since I was old enough to dress myself. My people go to MIT. So that’s what I did.
