Michigan Form Ticket: Fill & Download for Free

Sophomore year, I took Business Law with a teacher considered by most as very attractive. We both hit it off immediately; I loved Making a Murderer and so did he. The two lead defense lawyers became so popular off of that show that they ended up going on a world tour, talking about the problems in our criminal justice system.At the end of the semester, I was offered two free tickets to one of the shows in Michigan held on a Friday night. It was too far, so I couldn’t go, and by that time, I had already made plans to go to the one in Wisconsin. Because I knew my teacher loved the show and the lawyers, I decided to give up the two free tickets I was offered to him and his wife.On the last day of class, I shyly made my way up to him. I wanted there to be a ‘surprise’ element to what I was about to say (I had two free tickets), yet I wasn’t sure how to ask or tell him, and I began to get anxious.“Hey, you’ve been great in this class. I hope you have a great summer,” he began to say. I smiled nervously and blurted out “So what are you doing this Friday night?”His eyes widened and my face immediately reddened as I realized how wrong that had come out.“Uh.. I’m not sure. I would have to check,” he said hesitantly.“I have two tickets to this show in Michigan hosted by the two lawyers from Making a Murderer. Do you wanna go?” And right as I said that, I realized that I had again, instead of clarifying, made the situation worse. I had just asked him out on a date. I had fucked up so horrendously. I began to stutter and finally managed to blurt out “I mean, with your wife. Do you wanna go with your wife? I have two tickets for you and your wife.”His face relaxed and he let out a nervous laugh, slowly regaining control. “Thank you,” he said. “That’s very nice of you to offer.”He ended up being busy that night, aka not being able to go, but yeah. That whole conversation was a nightmare.

The one that sticks in my mind was when I stopped a vehicle for doing 65 in a 40 zone. Not much traffic, 4 lane highway with residential areas. After stopping the car I noticed that it had out of state plates, there were 5 occupants all nicely dressed, the driver was in his 50’s. I advised the driver of the violation, and the first thing out of his mouth was “You only stopped me because I’m not from Michigan” “That’s all you cops do is look for people out of state to write tickets”I explained that I didn’t even know where he was from because he went by me so fast I never had a chance to see his license plate. He continued to complain and after I wrote the ticket, he grumbled something about rotten cops and drove off.No people, we don’t look for out of state plates just to write tickets, if that were the case there would be a lot less tourism in Michigan.

I was in traffic court. The charge was an expired license. I had recently returned to Michigan when I found out my license was expired after living in Monroe, Wisconsin for a while. (Worked at the Swiss Colony).Michigan at the time had responsible driver fees in addition to ticket fines to generate funds for the state. This was a failed program as no one, or very few people would pay them. So if you received a ticket you were given the responsible driver fee you were supposed to pay (between $250 & $500 for paid that fee for two years in a row). This was such an unpopular law at the beginning judges would dismiss that responsibility until an additional law passed that denied them that ability. So, even if you beat the ticket in court you still had to pay this fee. This failure of law was overturned after a decade of failure.Anyhow, back to the story. I was there before the judge and he asked me why my license was suspended. I told him I did not know it was. He asked if I received the mailed notice and told him I did not as I was living in Monroe, Wisconsin.At this point, he states I am from Monroe what can you tell me about it. I told him it was a sleepy little beer town with a cheese problem. Of course. The courtroom broke out in laughter including the judge. With his remark “well, you certainly were in Monroe"He went on with the trial. No fine for the suspended license charge and gave me a month to return with proof of license no longer suspended. Which I squared away.Will always remember the time I made a judge laugh.
