Student Presentation Feedback Sheet: Fill & Download for Free

You don’t mention whether the student in question is nervous about presenting in the ESL class, in other classes in front of native speakers or both. Here are some of the things I do while working with international students:In my ELL classThe students write their own presentations—I assign a lot of them over the year, because this is definitely an area they need practice in. Once the writing is done, I sometimes pair students up to practice in front of a partner.For a big project, I have each student present the first minute of his/her talk to the whole class, and then I give him/her some quick feedback. Everyone hears each other’s first minute, and everyone gets suggestions from me.On certain projects (elevator pitches—quick 60–90-second talks), I have the students write feedback on each of their classmates. I create a sort of spreadsheet with all the names and columns for pacing, pronunciation, organization, whether the talk was interesting for the audience and whether they stayed within the time limit. I collect the feedback sheets and review them. I give them a summary of their classmates’ notes.In other teachers’ classesMake sure the student understands all the requirements of the project. It’s amazing what they can miss on an assignment sheet, especially when they’ve only just arrived.Ask the teacher if the topic or time limit can be modified for the student, at least at the beginning of the year (or when he/she first arrives).Make sure the ESL student is not called on first to present. He/she needs to see other students’ presentations as examples. In fact, it’s probably ideal for the student to watch several others. If the teacher has video from a previous year, that would help, too, at the time he/she assigns the project.Finally, for either type of project, it would be great if your schedule allows you to make yourself available for private “rehearsals” before the due date. Students feel much more confident when they’ve practiced in front of a trusted adult.

In an Indian perspective, there are decent number of tier 1 grad schools compared to the number of quality secondary schools. Demand supply ratio is pitiful in school education. There should be improvement in three major areas to meet the needs.Teacher's Growth: At present, many teachers working in government schools, chose to be teacher because of free time available in the teaching profession. There are quite a few teachers who consider teaching to be their main income source. Most of them are into other financial and political areas and never cared much about the system or the students. "A Teacher ceases to be teacher once he stops learning". Those teachers who are not updated with the recent developments in their subjects are obsolete and redundant for the system. Thus arises a need for Continuous evaluation and learning system for teachers which can keep them updated. Teachers should not be evaluated by feedback sheets from students. They should be evaluated on their own subjects through presentations and group discussions at zonal and district levels. There should be performance based perks for those teachers who could innovate learning methods.Student's Growth: Considering school education, the students are at their peak growing stage. Basic nutrition and physical education are utmost important at this time. Most grad schools offer courses on professional ethics. I think ethics can be better inculcated in students at tender age and this can improve the quality of living (possibility of reduction in suicides at graduation level). So better implementation of midday meals program or improvised nutrition program (modification of meals system); and Emphasis on Physical education and ethics courses are required. I think that it is a failure of our education system that we could not identify the genius Ramanujan early. Our system is designed to make the maximum out of average people, but not meant for geniuses. So, special programs should be organized to identify exceptional students (This topic needs to be debated on how to improve).Infrastructure and Research: There should be enough opportunities for a student or teacher to learn, so that they can identify the area in which they are best at. Establishing fully functional laboratories, play grounds and cultural centers; and regular monitoring should be done. Learning environment has a lot of effect on the learner. So there should be dedicated learning studios for research and innovation on ways of learning.P.S: We all know the combination of Learning Boxing with Beethoven. Is there a music, illumination and temperature setting; at which I can maximize the grasping power while learning physics..?? (Just some wild dreams)

There are definitely students I cannot wait to see the back of. Hate is a strong word, but when you are demanding grades you haven’t earned, or whipping out lame excuses every other week, or asking for advice in every office hour but never following said advice, it is rather irritating. The only ones I can say I ever truly ‘hated’ were the ones who made their fellow students miserable. Make a racist/sexist comment on your feedback sheet for someone’s presentation? Yeah, I officially hate you and I will call you on it. Other than that though, I just find a few to be rather draining for various reasons and rejoice at their graduation.
