In my 25 years at the post office, most of it as a Postmaster, no package or letter was EVER found based on a missing mail search request. The dead letter and dead parcel offices attempt to find a place to mail everything that they have. Supposedly they log in the contents of packages that they can’t deliver. I have known them to return damaged packages or checks that were in damaged envelopes, but it wasn’t as the result of one of these requests. It seems that they should be able to find your letter or package, but they never do. Frustrating, but your mail piece is probably lost forever.

Hi All,I think I am the best person to write this answer for now with actual cost at present.So, let's start-After 3 years of stay in Bangalore, I planned to move to Delhi. And then I thought of how to transfer bike from Bangalore to Delhi. I read few articles on quora and different websites and think of sending it by gati or some other transporter or vua train. Other transport medium charge hefty amount, so, now Indian railway comes in mind but with a bit of fear of bribe and other thing also.I went with my bike to KSR Bengaluru Railway station and asked for parcel office. People there told me the way.When I reach there, 1 packer approached me and told I will need to pack my bike and they can do that for 600 RS (mine is sports bike else for scooty - 400 rs) “*note - you can avoid it, if you just search on Google how to pack bike”, because the material they used was not worth more than 100, in Delhi the charges are 200 RS only. And you have to dry your petrol tank completely.In the meantime he asked me to fill the form with details of from which station to which and who is sending and receiving and engine cc and approx cost of it. “* Note- if you want to pay less, write only 20000 as cost of your vehicle, if you will write more, charges will increase exponentially”.After that , i went into office, 1 person signed on the form and asked me to bring bike inAfter that some other person wrote the details in ink on bike.After that I paid 2800 on counter ( in case of bike cost as 30000 it is 3800 and more). Keep that receipt carefully as you will need it in future.After that I come to the same guy, who has written details on bike. He asked me to give him some money, so that he will load properly and early also. I denied by saying that anyway you have to load it. He said nothing and I left from there.You can track your parcel using your prr no at Indian railway parcel website. And you will get sms also once your bike get unloaded on destination station or mid station( in case if no direct station).I was expecting my bike to reach by 19th Oct but it didn't when I went to New Delhi parcel office and checked they told me that it is not loaded yet.I was bit shocked and know somewhere also why it didn't happen (because of that ink guy who asked bribe)I immediately tweeted on Twitter to @RailMinIndia and @RailwaySeva. By stating the prr no and day when I booked.In less than 10 min, it sent to drm Bengaluru and I got a confirmation on Twitter by saying that it will be loaded on Karnataka express and will reach in expected time.I was relieved and also got unload message on 21 Oct (Karnataka express time 19 Oct to 21 Oct - travle time).I arrived at new Delhi railway parcel office and asked at counter, they directed me to godown.When I reached there they told me it is on platform no 5 and you have to get it because of very less railway staff.I went to platform 5 and there you have to ask 1 railway officer to make entry of it and after that bring your bike to godawn and ask themThey will ask you to go to counter again to get gatepass and then they will also make a entry of it after that you show this gatepass at entryCome out and unpack it and go to nearest petrol pumpAnd that's all.Thanks for reading it and guys, if you have reached here, then only 1 request to you*Don't give bribe, tweet on Twitter , higher official will listen to you*
