But what’s even more amazing is the time they take before conveying the interview results. I know that it’s a good thing that they invest so much time in it and I’m sure they try their best to make the process as quick as possible. But honestly, the wait is nerve-wracking!I think it took around 4 weeks from the onsite interviews to get the result. The progression looked something like this.Week 0: Just after the interview; “Oh, I really flunked the interview!”, “The code I wrote was buggy. He didn’t notice the error did he?”. A couple sleepless nights follow.Week 1: Have come to terms with my interview mistakes; “Let bygones be bygones, I’ll know the result soon anyway.”Week 2: “Hmm.. they are taking their time. I should have received an update at the very least”. Self doubt makes a re-appearance:“Did you miss me?”Week 3: “Ahh, I really shouldn’t have made such trivial mistakes”, “Was I so bad they don’t even want to talk to me.. Haha, of course not.. probably not”. Sleeping becomes a bit difficult.Week 4: People start getting rejection calls. “Oh, they’re finally replying. I wasn’t the only one who didn’t get a call. Hope they give a call soon.. wait no, not now. I don’t want a rejection call!”Fast-forward to the end of the week, my mobile phone rings and shows an unknown number. True-caller says it’s Google along with a red colored notification displaying spam. My heartbeat quickens, I quickly answer the call.HR: Hi Nishant, this is XYZ from GoogleMe: **Starts getting nervous** H-Hello, nice to talk to you.HR: I had an update regarding your recent interviews at GoogleMe: **Could actually feel my heart thumping**HR: I’m sorry-The words struck like a bolt, I knew where this was going. Getting rejected by the first company I applied to and specially my dream company was not going to be easy. Thoughts of how I could have improved, why I didn’t get selected all passed through my head in an instant.But before I could sink deeper into my sadness, I heard her sweet voice,HR: I’m sorry for not sending an update sooner. But first of all, congratulations -I don’t remember the rest. I was in a daze after experiencing the quickest turnaround in my life.
