Totally different.This is just my slice of life, but somehow likely relevant, in some ways.I have lived in Vancouver, on The Drive, Vancouver closer to Burnaby, Marpole, Richmond on a boat at Shelter Island, Langley, Surrey, Abbotsford, andMission.Living on The Drive was cool. It was great, seeing as we were childless roadies, with quite an appetite for a party. We could walk or skytrain to anywhere. And we were out, all the time. We ate out, drank out, had coffee out, did everything out.But it was noisy. Hubs had so much trouble sleeping there. And there were more security risks. And you get never get away from people, really. We also did the math and figured out that my entire salary was spent on going out.Abbotsford was awesome. We were renting from farmers, right on River Road. We had so much privacy, and a huge garden. We could also just hop down to the river in a few minutes walking. It was great.Langley was meh. Too much traffic for too little fun. It was sleepy and boring. I was not impressed. But we had good friends in hobby farms. So I got to learn cool shit like how to milk a cow and how to make cheese.Richmond on the boat was a blast. I’m super into cooking and took great joy in discovering all the Asian grocery stores. It expanded my mind for cooking and ingredients like nothing else ever before. We also liked to boat over to Steveston and buy seafood off the docks. Amazing. The boat living was also super cool. But next time—bigger boat.Surrey sucked. I was a student and often had to walk home in the evening from the bus loop. I kept having cars stop to “accost” me. It really sucked big time. I’m not sexy at all. My backpack was full of textbooks. Not condoms. It was insane that anyone would think they could get anything out of me.Marpole was decent. It was urban enough. It was close enough to the city. But it was very neighborly. I liked that. So many Russians too. We had so many vodka nights there. Those mofos are crazy. After nights of shooting vodka, they’d wake up and like, make pancakes, while whistling.I’m in Mission now. On our second house. We bought our first house here to make money, and we did. We didn’t even need to fix it. We just sat on it for a year and a half. It went up more than 100k. Our recent house just went up the same, in one year. The market is exploding here.We bought in Mission originally because it was the only place we could afford. But it surprised us. This place is awesome.No big night life, or cultural scene, but people here are so nice. You get invited everywhere. People talk to each other in grocery stores. Nobody flinches if you are in overalls full of dust. It’s blue collar and humble.I love it. And I’ll likely make a killing again home owning here. They can’t stop building.

Primarily it is the Flag of the vessel determines the conduct of the ship in high seas. Most flags are signatory to IMO resolutions such as SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, MLC and many more thus making sure a ship follows certain rules when on trading routes. Furthermore the owners, managers and Class puts in more requirements which adapt quickly to changing socio-geo political-security environments. A Ships Captain is thus a representative who ensures all is done well in good spirit of Seamanship.
