Brief Background -My Childhood Friend and I were applying for different IIT's for doing our Masters after appearing GATE-2014 Exam.One of the IIT's (I'm not going to name it, for some reason) shortlisted us, along with 200 students across the country(India) to sit for its written test as well as for the Interview. There were only 10 seats available for Computer Sc. Specialization.I successfully qualified for the interview round. Unfortunately my friend couldn't make it. So I decided to screw up my Interview, Big way.The Panel included Four Professors including a Japanese Professor.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Interview -Prof. 1 - What's your name?Me - Rohan.Prof. 1 - Full name, Please!!!!!Me - Rohan Mazumdar.Prof. 2- Tell us about yourself.Me - Random blah.. blah.. unrelated things mostly. Prof.3 interrupted me in between sensing something fishy.Prof. 3 - Give me your CV.Me - I don't have one.By now the Panel was a bit astonished and their expression was kind of weird.Prof. 3 - Okay. Give me your details one by one I will note it down.I provided them all.Japanese Prof. - From which subject you want us to ask Questions?Me - Algorithm.Japanese Prof. - Okay Rohan tell me what are the different kinds of Algorithm that you know?Me - Sir, I will answer in HINDI.The entire Panel burst out laughing (Except that Japanese guy). I laughed along with them.They were very Humble. They allowed me to answer in Hindi. But from here on they started showing interest in me.My interview lasted for 50 minutes(Longest among all candidates). I was sure that they were going to reject me.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------They published the result after a gap of 15 days. Say hello to “B.”B is an electrician like I am. B also works on locomotives like I do.B loved to call me for ANY issue he encountered. Unit not loading, calls me. Headlight was out, calls me.Now the other thing was that B, well he had been working there longer than I did. So one night I had enough of it. Everytime he called me, I would reply, “figure it out and fix it.”EVERY SINGLE TIME!The next night during our safety and job briefing, B complained about me not helping him.I stood up, looked at him right in the eye, and said,“You keep calling me for “help,” but what you really mean is, come here and do my job for me. So unless you decide that you will give me your paycheck, I am done “helping” you.”The entire shift looked at me and at him. He decided to claim that I was being mean to him. When the boss told him to quit trying to take advantage of me, he went home.Luckily for me, a few weeks later they decided to adjust the shift, in the form of days off. Guess who didn't come back. Yep, B was told to utilize his bumping rights because he was no longer certified to work in that shop.
