They do not have the right to ask why you're taking a day off, much less why you're going to a doctor's appointment.In the future, do not tell your employer about your treatments for your health conditions. There was really no reason to tell them what medication you're taking, and they have no reason to know what medical conditions you have unless you have petitioned them (as per your rights from the ADA) for reasonable accommodations related to your depression/anxiety.If this was a public conversation--as in, not in a private location, solely between you and your boss--it is doubly a violation of your rights, because she revealed private information about you to your coworkers.

It’s not that those with SMIs can’t get a job, or can’t get the required training or degrees, it’s more often the case it is harder for someone with an SMI to remain completely asymptomatic and appear competent enough to stay in that position.I am a good example of that. I am also halfway through a Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Development and already hold a BA in Human Services and Counseling.
