The assumptions in this question are simply not true. I also worship on major occasions that are not on Sundays, such as Ash Wednesday, the Wednesdays in Lent, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.I volunteer in the Sunday School and have done so for many years.I have served on the Congregation Council: one year as Parish Education Director, one year as Congregation Secretary, and three years as Congregation Treasurer.I contribute money to the best of my ability not only to the congregation’s general expenses but also to various related causes, including Lutheran Social Services (LSS), the Food Pantry, the Personal Essentials Pantry, and a fund to buy necessities for area children from poor families.I do my best to faithfully reflect all the values of Jesus Christ in all areas of my everyday life.I am a Republican.I have been a dues-paying member of the Republican Party of Waukesha County (RPWC) since 1980. I belong to the RPWC Chairman’s Circle, a group of members who make substantial contributions to the RPWC each year.I do volunteer work on political campaigns and in the RPWC office when time permits.I help out with running the RPWC Business Leaders Coalition, a group of people active in Waukesha County that meet monthly to discuss public policy over breakfast.With only a very few exceptions I have voted for the Republican candidates in every partisan general election.I always vote on the Republican ballot in partisan primary elections.I contribute to the campaigns of the Republican candidates that I prefer in both primary and general elections.On three separate occasions I have testified publicly before the Wisconsin State Senate in favor of bills that were sponsored by Republican members of the Wisconsin State Legislature. The bills were to establish a Model Academic Standards Board in the Department of Public Instruction, to require Voter ID at the polls, and to repeal state prevailing wage laws.I have always been a strong supporter of legitimate science.I have been firm believer in the scientific method since I first learned it in the 7th grade.I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, and Physics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.Although most of my professional software development experience has been in other areas, I have done a fair amount of engineering applications development.My church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), accepts fully the philosophical principle that natural laws do not change. Hence, we accept the current teachings about cosmology and natural history. This teaching has been in the Christian education curriculum of our church and its predecessors since at least the early 1960s. The rejection of cosmology and natural history is largely in the fundamentalist churches, not other Christian churches.I have always been a strong supporter of sound education.My family has a strong history of higher education. My maternal grandfather, Raymond Turner, earned a law degree from the University of Michigan in 1908. My mother earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and a teacher’s certification from the University of Michigan in 1942. My father earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1947.I earned two master’s degrees with honors. I earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 1991. I earned a Master of Project Management degree from the Keller Graduate School of Management in 1994.I have completed a lot of college courses beyond those required to earn my degrees.I have done a lot of outside reading on a wide variety of subjects not only in the area of software development but also in many other subjects including, but not limited to, American history, American constitutional theory, and American public policy.What do Christian Republicans really want? What is their end goal? I can’t speak for anyone other than myself but I believe that many other Christian Republicans share most, if not all, of my public policy positions. Here are a few things I would like to see done. This list is far from exhaustive.Restore faithful adherence to all of Christian values as the moral foundation of our society. This includes greatly reducing the orgy of self-indulgence and immorality that has characterized our society over the last 55 years or so. If we can accomplish this, then there will be a huge reduction in the incidence of illegitimacy and single parenthood and consequent social ills. Illegitimacy is strongly correlated with many other social ills.Reduce the powers of the federal government to those enumerated in the US Constitution, including the duly ratified amendments. Return all other powers to the states and the people. Really enforce the 9th and 10th Amendments. Require all federal judges and US Supreme Court justices to really believe in and act on the original public meaning of the US Constitution as a qualification for holding their offices.Reduce and eventually eliminate the welfare state. There is no constitutional authority for federal welfare programs and the existence of such programs strongly encourages lazy, self-indulgent, and immoral behavior. I have witnessed this personally all of my adult life. We need to replace government welfare programs with private charity, as was the case before FDR started them in the 1930s. Private charities can impose morality and work requirements that are difficult or impossible to implement in government programs.Establish and reinforce the principle that the federal power to spend money is a derived power under Article I, Section 8, Clause 18 and not a separate enumerated power in its own right. This will put an end to much of the current over-spending at the federal level.Put an end to the harassment of local governments by radical atheist groups in attempts to force them to ban religious expression on public property and at public events under the false arguments that such things are an establishment of religion. The radical atheist groups almost always get their way by threatening expensive litigation that the local governments can’t afford to defend. This really is a form of bullying. We should hold the atheist groups accountable for trying to make atheism effectively the state religion of the USA. We need to fine these groups heavily for trying such litigation and expose their billionaire sponsors.We need to make parents fully accountable for the misbehavior of their children, both disruptive behavior in school and delinquent behavior out of school. Our public policy regarding parenthood should fully reflect the teachings in Deuteronomy 6:6–9 and Ephesians 6:4. We need to make Christian stewardship theory the philosophical foundation of the laws regarding parenthood and guardianship of minor children.Swift, sure, and severe punishment of all crimes, from minor traffic offenses up to and including the worst atrocities. Criminals routinely use expected value theory in deciding whether or not to commit crimes. Getting very serious about prosecuting and punishing crime will greatly reduce the crime rate.Reinstate the teaching of Christian values in the public schools. Put an end to the current long-term trend of using the public schools as indoctrination centers for leftist ideology. If leftists want schools that engage in leftist indoctrination, then they can establish their own Karl Marx Academy of Atheism, Socialism, and Moral Relativism.Establish and maintain a strong, fact-filled curriculum in the public schools, from pre-K up through and including doctoral programs. The philosophy and curriculum of Hillsdale College and its primary and secondary school, Hillsdale Academy, should be the model.Provide and maintain a strong national defense. This is a necessity, not a luxury. As Christians, we accept the Biblical view of human nature. Therefore we realize that the world will always contain a large number of people who lust for power over others and therefore have an intense hatred of free societies. Thus, our nation will always have dangerous enemies.Hope this helps.
