Sure. I won’t disagree.But, so is this one —This is identity politics — I might agree …As long as you have no issue acknowledging that this is identity politics tooAnd guess what ? There is absolutely nothing wrong about identity politics especially while politicians are aiming for electoral gains.But you know what annoys me?Behaving as if identity politics is some uncouth unethical thing only the political left participates in, while the political right’s identity-politics-game is even more prolific, even more exhibitory, even more effective.There is nothing wrong with pursuing identity politics, as long as you don’t pretend like your tribe’s identity politics is not actually ‘identity politics’. In fact, being able to successfully pursue voters based on their identity — is nothing less than ‘effective politics’.And the political right has won that race of persuasion …again …and again …And they pretentiously branded it into something ‘virtuous’ and ‘sanctimonious’..The holy trifecta of identity politics!Yet … apparently, ‘the left is obsessed with it’.That statement is so disingenuous and untruthful, whoever makes it, becomes instantaneously disqualified from discussing politics with me.

There's nothing but the Truth in his statement. He/She doesn't have to fit into your sense of identity to be right. India is a country of diversity for exactly the same purpose. You can't alter people's personal sense of identity to satisfy your sense of nationalism. India becomes stronger by including and empowering the Tamils and Marathis and Biharis and Muslims and Kashmiris. It weakens by forcing a redundant agenda on people who are proud of their sense of self.
