PDF Editor FAQ

What is the fewest amount of points an NHL team had and still made the playoff?

The answer to this question is 42 points. In the 1994–95 Season that was shortened by the lockout each team played 48 games. This was done by two Western Conference teams: the Dallas Stars & the San Jose Sharks.I feel that this is not an acccurate answer to your question because it does not consider a number of variables, the 1st being the number of games played. That can vary from the shortened seasons where 48 games were played in 1994–95 & 2012–13; to a time when NHL teams played as many as 84 games & has varied from season to season with teams playing 80 games, 70 games & the current NHL season of 82 games.A 2nd variable is the introduction of the shootout in the 2004–05 NHL Season. Prior to this NHL regular season games were 60 minutes of regulation hockey followed by 5 minutes of 5 on 5 hockey. If neither team scored in the 5 minute overtime period each team was awarded a point. With the elimination of games ending in ties an “extra point” was awarded on any given night a game a winner was not determined in 60 minutes. There have also been changes in the structure of the 5 minute overtime period; 4 skaters vs. 4 skaters down to the current 3 skaters vs. 3 skaters. Each team that makes it to overtime gets one point, win or lose in OT & the winner of OT or the shootout gets 2 points in the standings. The 3rd variable was the number of teams in the NHL: this varied from 6 when the league was established; doubled in size from 6 to 12 teams for the 1967–68 Season, expansion continued until there were 21 teams until the 1991–92 Season when the San Jose Sharks entered the league, 1992–93 Ottawa Senators & Tampa Bay Lightning joined the NHL, 1993–94 Season the Florida Panthers & Mighty Ducks of Anaheim were added,NHL expansion continued into the 1999–00 Season when the Atlanta Thrashers became the 28th NHL team, & the Minnesota Wild & Columbus Blue Jackets became the 29th & 30th teams in the League & continued until the Las Vegas Golden Knights were added for the 2017–18 Season to become the 31st team & finally until Seattle was awarded the 32nd NHL team slated to begin in the 2021–22 Season. So the number of theams in the NHL & the number of times each team must face each other (in the Division & the Conference) plays a role in determining the final number of points at the end of the season.Another factor that must be considered is the relocation & ownership changes of NHL franchises: such as the Colorado Rockies moving to become the New Jersey Devils, Minnesota North Stars moving to become the Dallas Stars, Hartford Whalers moving to become the Carolina Hurricanes, the Winnipeg Jets moving to become the Phoenix Coyotes & the Phoenix Coyotes, & the Atlanta Flames becoming the Calgary Flames & the Atlanta Thrashes becoming the Winnipeg Jets (2.0) just to name a few.One more variable that must be considered is the constant rule changes & evolution of the game. This can be seen in changes such as the “Trapezoid Rule” that restricts the handling of the puck by the goaltender behind the goal line, to the “elimination of the Red line at center ice” (for all intents & purposes other than the face off), to rules that were selectively enforced or not enforced by the referees year to year, etc.As you can see there are a great number of factors that influence the outcome of the game; almost too many to name. Today’s NHL game is a faster paced, higher skilled game than in years past. Free agency rules && contract restrictions, and the addition of the Salary Cap changed the structure of teams. Goalies have tried to bend the rules by using larger & larger equipment & the rules have evolved to limit that. While skaters have changed the game with the evolution of the slap shot & the curve in the players’ sticks has changed over the years. The advanvement in nutritional science & year round training was a huge leap for all athletes; as well as the development of composite materials, more advanced protective equipment, helmets, & pads the players wear. The NHL is constantly changing & evolving so it is difficult to compare teams & players year to year & era to era.

The elevators were upgraded, and two restraining stands were fitted, allowing combat aircraft to reach full power before making a ski jump-assisted short take-off. Three arresting gears were fitted on the aft part of the angled deck, and navigation and carrier-landing aids were added to support fixed-wing "short take-off but arrested recovery" (STOBAR) operations.INS Vikrant(2nd Aircraft carrier)It is the first aircraft carrier to be built in IndiaIt is 262 metres (860 ft) long and 60 metres (200 ft) wide, and displaces about 40,000 metric tons (39,000 long tons). It features a STOBAR configuration[23] with a ski-jump. The deck is designed to enable aircraft such as the MiG-29K to operate from the carrier. It is expected to carry an air group of up to thirty aircraft, which will include up to 24–26 fixed-wing combat aircraft,[24] primarily the Mikoyan MiG-29K, besides carrying 10 Kamov Ka-31 or Westland Sea King helicopters. The Ka-31 will fulfill the airborne early warning (AEW) role and the Sea King will provide anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capability. It will be ready by 2021https://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-navy-reassures-no-delay-in-ins-vikrant-2741604INS Arihant & ArighatINS Arihant is the lead ship of India's Arihant class of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines. The Arihant-class submarines are nuclear powered ballistic missile submarines built under the Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project. The RD-33MK engine features 7% higher power over the base RD-33, enabled by the usage of improved materials for the turbine blades.Internal fuel was increased from 3,340 to 4,560 kg (7,360 to 10,100 lb), to give a combat radius of 850 km (531 mi). The combat radius can be increased to 1,300 km (810 mi) with three underwing fuel drop tanks. The maximum weight of the aircraft grew from 19.5 to 22.4 t (43,000 to 49,400 lb), to allow for increased payloads.Kamov Ka-31The main mission of the helicopter is long-range detection of threats, including airborne threats such as fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
