HMS Victorious was manned by its British crews throughout its loan to the US Navy. However, because the Victorious had superior fighter control facilities, when operating with the USS Saratoga, the Saratoga's fighters flew from the Victorious, while HMS Victorious' Avenger operated from the Saratoga. Therefore there were some USN personnel in the crew of HMS Victorious for a time, while there were RN personnel on the Saratoga.For security reason Victorious’ aircraft operated in US markings.

Ok I’m tired of seeing this type of question about how vulnerable the US supercarriers are to these Chinese and Russian hypersonic carrier killers. So let’s put this to bed once and for all.First, size. Have you even seen an aircraft carrier??? They are literally the largest things you will ever see that move! And I’m not talking move as in creeping like you walking down a street. I’m talking move like a car driving at 40 miles an hour! So to give you a visual image go to a street in the downtown of what ever city you live in. Find a 6 story building and look up at the top of it. That’s how high the flight deck is off the water! Next measure off from that building 1/5th of a mile. That’s how long they are. Then measure off 1/2 of a city block wide. That’s how wide they are! And that’s just ABOVE the surface NOT including the island.Second, vulnerability.This is the USS Saratoga CV-3 originally launched in 1925 and commissioned in 1927. She was half as wide and 130 feet shorter than a Nimitz Class Supercarrier. The Saratoga tipped the scales at 37,000 tons that’s 1/3rd of the 100,000+ ton Nimitz and Ford Class Carriers the US Navy operates today.The Saratoga survived a near point blank nuclear blast only 520 feet above it. And then it only sank after a second nuclear blast was set off within 2000 feet and 90 feet below it and it still didn’t sink for two days.This is Saratoga after thisnear point blank nuclear weapon explosion! (Those teeny tiny little black things are warships by the way)It’s still standing if you notice! And only sank two days after this.That’s a 23 kiloton nuclear explosion 90 ft below it! (Once again those little black dots are warships.)Third, self defense.Aircraft Carriers don’t go anywhere alone!They usually have at least 1 if not 2 of theseTiconderoga Class Cruisers2 (5 inch) guns122 missiles in VLS plus RAM and ESSMPlus 2 or 3 of theseArleigh Burke class destroyers1 (5 inch) gun96 missiles in VLS plus RAM and Torpedoes.AND1 or 2 of theseLos Angeles class attack submarines.Now is the time for me to remind you that the Saratoga was launched 92 years ago and is 1/3rd the size of this.The USS Ford.By the way we have 11 of these modern Nimitz and Ford Class Carriers and 2 more under construction.Think about how much we have learned about how to build these huge ships for survivablity in the 94 years between 1925 and 2019.And they carry 60 to 80 of theseand theseIn conclusion, unless those missiles have nuclear warheads you really should forget about it. All you’re going to accomplish is to tick the United States off.Ask Bin Laden and Saddam how that went for them!Oh you can’t they’re DEAD!
