Average corporate employee’s life cycle :IT / KPO employee -Wakes up at 5am.Receive call from Company Cab driver for pickup status 6.30amPickup from home at 7.00am.Reach office by 8.00amLog in to his/ her Computer. Check all mails from Manager, Management and Client for any special requests. Flag all mails from client which need immediate action and reply.No. of mails decides how much work one has to do.Open all web applications.Check for amount of work.Now it's 9.30am.Go for breakfast return by 10.Work like animal till 1.30pm. Call for team members to go for lunch, people will start to leave their desk at 1.45pm. Finish lunch by 2.15pmStart work by 2.30pm.Work like animal till 4.30pmAt 4.30pm you realise that you are all set with given task and free to leave office at 5.You start to roam here and there for last 15 min.Your manager observes this, call you at his desk, checks all team members work and finds that people who came at 12.30pm or 11am are behind. ( Obviously because they have different shifts and spend less time as compared to people who came at 8. )Your manager reminds you it's Team work, and assigns you other people's work at 5pm.At 5pm these people go for Tea break.You are not going because you already have worked for 9 hours and don't want to spend more time at office.You complete that work and team get mail from client to rectify some error.You are the one who is free, you work on that. Till that time It's already 7.30pmPerson who came at 11am or 12.30pm asks you why are working till now ? He is about to leave office at 8.00 pmAnd finally after exhausting work you go to manager just to get an answer, if possible see if you can help. ( Dekh yaar koi help kar Sakta hai to karle)You both log out at 8:00 ( who logged in at 11am and you at 8am)You go to company transport, which is supposed to leave company premises at 8.30 but you know It's MNC's transport. Finally cab leaves office at 8.45–9:00pm.You know your cab goes through city (traffic).Finally you reach at 10–10.30pmYou don't have anything to do then you check WhatsApp and Facebook.You tag all friends whose name starts at S for no random reason.You sleep at 1.00am.Wake up at 5:00 forcing that body who do not want go that place but still you do it because you don't want that tag of unemployed.You don't know how appraisal works.You don't know your company's vision , growth prospects.You don't know how to make most out of any situation.Your statement about life is slowly get changed to boring.You bought dress of 2000INR just to look best for that traditional day, click some selfies at office premises uploads it on Instagram and Facebook just to get only 250 likes.You have no plans on weekends except sleeping for straight 12 hours and at afternoon.You are wondering about all people who travel while having job.You wonder how your fellow colleague able to travel around places but why can't you.It really hurts when you get to know your salary is less than Security guard's salary as a fresher (peace).Your company's housekeeping person, security guard , your cab driver get bonus from the respective vendors or companies and you are happy with that Rs. 400 Cadbury box or 2000mAh Powerbank which is supposed to use to charge your phone having 3500mAh capacity. The Passport Experience - got the entire process of passport renewal done in just 5 working days…Was a bit apprehensive at the beginning that it would take a long time, but was happily surprised with the entire process. Took an appointment for PSK near Sai Arcade, Bellandur, Bangalore for 13th Jan 2017. Appointment was for 3.45 PM and the security guard there calls people inside based on their batch timings.Once I was in the queue, it took 15-20 minutes to get the TOKEN. The token issue counters will have TCS employees verifying your documents and their photocopies. Ensure that you have one photocopy of your address proof and ID proof document and those should be self attested. They will also tell you if your photocopies are having any issues. There is a xerox counter in PSK itself where you can get the required xerox copies at a nominal price. I was providing a bank passbook as an address proof and was asked to have the photocopies of the transaction statements in first few pages as well. Once everything is done they will arrange a file for you with the required photocopy of documents and will ask you to move inside towards the processing counters (A,B and C in sequence). This process can take 10-15 minsCounter A - After a wait of 5 mins, my token number was displayed on the LED and I proceeded to counter A (those are like office cubicles inside). Again this part of the process are done by TCS employees and they took my photo, bio-metrics and verified the form. If you need to make any modifications to your passport form, this is where you need to inform the person at the counter and they will do it for you. They will also scan and upload your ID and Address proofs. Also having an ADHAAR number is recommended and it expedites the process. Once done, I was provided with a form printout of my details and documents uploaded. This takes 10-15 mins. Process is very smooth and the TCS person at the counter was courteous and helpfulCounter B - Again after a wait of 5 mins, it was my turn to go to counter B (you need to pay attention to the token numbers displayed in LED terminal and also they do announce the token numbers and the respective counters). In this counter there was a young government official, who just validated the work done by the TCS person in counter A and asked me to proceed towards counter C. It took just 3-4 mins in this counterCounter C - This time I had to wait a bit longer, around 10 mins (meanwhile there is a coffee and snacks counter insider PSK, where I had a filter coffee). In counter C there will be a government officer ( mostly an APO ) who will validate your details from their terminal and also validate your address and ID proof. For me it was an aged person who was about to update my application with “post police verification required” and I had to explain her that according to rules mentioned it the website, it's not required for passport renewal and she agreed. She then stamped my old passport as cancelled and approved my passport renewal application. I had spent around 10 mins in this counterAnd within 2 mins, I got an SMS that my passport has been sent for printing. Next two days were a weekend, on 17th Jan I got a mail regarding confirmation of passport printing along with my file number. On 18th Jan, I received an SMS that my passport was dispatched (along with passport number and speed post tracking number). On 19th Jan, my new passport got delivered. So it took just 5 working days. I was the tipping point.Flash back to the mid 1980s. I was an applications programmer, doing batch and online COBOL in an IBM mainframe environment at a small financial company. After I had been there about 4 months, our VP left, and a new VP was hired. Almost immediately, I started seeing this new fellow wandering the halls, not an employee, observing my fellow co-workers, but not doing much of anything else. (He was actually creepy, had this permanent sneer, like he knew you were getting screwed.) He would carry a coffee mug with a headhunting/consulting firm logo, and I learned that he was a big wig in that company. Soon we had a bunch of new contractors and consultants on the floor. I couldn't tell that they were doing anything productive (or otherwise), though.Coincidentally (not), my co-workers and I started getting calls from other headhunters in the area. With the change in culture, several people left. More contractors! Including, as it turned out, the girlfriend of our VP. When I mentioned offhand to one of these headhunters about the sudden uptick in headhunter calls, one of them gave me the back story. This VP was known for coming into IT organizations, making it uncomfortable for the employees, and brought in contractors from this outfit. He rattled off three companies, one of which I had worked for after his tenure, and I knew from the community that all three had been top-heavy with contractors at one time and had gone through upheavals. I also learned that he had been pushed out of his prior position. I learned from several others that the rumor was that he was taking kickbacks from this contractor company manager.Career-wise, I wanted to get into systems programming, and would tell the headhunters this. Eventually one struck paydirt, and I gave my notice. Into the exit interview. I filled out a questionnaire, and I stated in the other comments “investigate current VP for taking kickbacks from (company).” Into the in-person interview. I remember her statement: “These are serious charges. Do you have proof?” I said “No, of course not. He wouldn't have paper evidence. He’s too smart. However, it is well known among the headhunters in (city) that he does this; look at his employment record. I have heard this from multiple sources in the industry.” I didn't mind saying this, I was never going to go back to this company. She said that they would look into it.Flash forward 4 weeks, late afternoon. I get a call from a friend and now ex-co-worker who worked in auditing. She’s breathless. “You’ll never guess what happened! They fired (him)!” She relates how he had been scrambling around the department asking his managers for budget estimates, thinking he was having a numbers meeting. He went into the CEO’s office, then came out 5 minutes later, was escorted by a security guard, given a box to pack his personal items, and was escorted out of the building.Flash forward 3 years. I'm reading the local newspaper and suddenly a name jumps off the page. Yep, ex-VP. The story was that a local county courthouse branch would no longer issue marriage licenses and perform marriages due to budget cuts, and he was one of those in line on this last day. The ex-VP was finally marrying his girlfriend (they had at least one child by this time) and wanted to get it done. They described him as a “handyman”. The guy had so self-tarnished his reputation that he could not get a job in the area.
