What is an insane coincidence that you've experienced?
Not particularly me, more like our family. My mother was in a motorcycle accident in 2011, and at that time we were sort of short on cash. Meanwhile, the hospital bills are super expensive and must be paid right away. Luckily, my parent’s friends and family started to help us. But it’s was not enough to pay the bill. We still had around 2177 US dollar debt. My father was doing everything he can to make that money.I need to mention that my father was a lawyer, and I know that some of his clients hadn’t paid him after the case was solved. One afternoon, a client from a very long time ago came to our house. He said that he now has the money to pay my father, because he just sold his estate.Needless to say, it was exactly 2177 US dollar.I said it’s more like a miracle than coincidence.
Why does a chimpanzee have six times the strength of a human being of generally the same size? Is it from more exercise, or do they have different muscle families from humans?
They aren't 6 times stronger than humans and there are few humans the same size as Chimpanzees (they would be midgets) as I explain here:Brian Collins' answer to Could an MMA fighter defeat a chimpanzee in hand to hand combat? Most male Chimpanzees are around as strong as a human male. If they were 6 times stronger than humans then they could lift 3,000 lbs, flip cars, and do other things that no one has ever seen a Chimpanzee do.One study, Bauman (1923; 1926) claimed Chimpanzees were 8 times stronger than humans. The methodology in this was extremely flawed however. The researcher basically just threw strength testing equipment to chimps and let them destroy it, while on the other hand, human subjects performed the task with instructions.Fitch (1943) conducted a controlled experiment where humans and Chimpanzees did the same task. To test as to whether or not the Chimps were trying, he denied them food for 24 hours and had them repeat the task. He could not do this with the human subjects (probably for IRB reasons) and just had to believe the human subjects when they said they gave it their all.Humans and Chimps pulled weights, aided by this device. The human participants were students and staff of the Yale Laboratory. One human subject was still stronger than any of the Chimpanzees. Human males tended to also be much stronger (up to 43%) than female Chimpanzees:The strength to body weight ratio of Chimpanzees was still about twice as much as humans, but humans weigh twice as much as Chimpanzees on average so we are about the same.A more recent study by Scholz et al., (2006), this time on Bonobos, showed that Bonobos were about 30% stronger than Olympic Athletes in a jumping height to weight test. Olympic Athletes still jumped higher, and in order to say Bonobos are stronger you have to take weight into account.Human males tend to be as strong, and in some cases stronger, than Chimpanzees.References:Bauman, J.
