It’s the same in New Jersey as well. I make a point to avoid getting gas in Jersey whenever I pass through for this exact reason. I can’t stand having someone else pump my gas. The last time I completely forgot to fuel up in New York, I ended up having to stop on the turnpike on the way home. I pulled up, and the attendant gave me the “wait a minute” finger and disappeared… He was gone for a couple of minutes before he came back. I could have been pumped and gone before he even got back. It wasn’t extremely late, and it wasn’t a busy station. I contemplated getting out and doing it myself, but knowing my luck I’d end up getting a ticket or something moronic.Then of course, there are the attendants that just unscrew your gas cap and fling it, leaving it to scratch against the car (this has happened more than once). Which REALLY erks me.I don’t know if you’re supposed to tip them, but I refuse to because on the off chance that I forget to fill up ahead of time to avoid “full service” gas stations, I shouldn’t be obligated to give someone extra money for swiping my card and plopping a pump in my gas tank. I am fully capable of this. I don’t care how hot or cold it is outside, or how poor the weather is.People’s arguments about why they love full-service stations lead me to believe that they’ve never lived somewhere without them. I can count on one hand in all my years of driving when I’ve left smelling like gas, stepped in a puddle of gas, had anything even remotely dangerous happen, etc. I just don’t understand it. Most stations have options if you’re handicapped or require assistance; I see those signs everywhere.

I am well equipped to answer this question since I am one of the students in my batch who has the least overall attendance. :pHere's my story-I never attend my morning 8-9 am lecture. I didn't attend some clinical postings too till my Obs and Gynae HOD, who's also our dean, got mad at us and made it compulsory for everyone to attend. I hate attending post lunch classes because by then I feel very sleepy.During first year, I didn't attend Physiology demonstration classes because the teacher was very strict (first year phobia). I missed most of my Biochem lectures as well.What do I do when I don't attend these classes?I study. Because I already study what the teacher will teach in the class so I study on my own.Here's a piece of how my cupboard doors look like. I made such notes for all parasites and viruses and stuck them on my cupboard so I read them whenever I look at my cupboard.My Patho review book with some extra info written on the sticky papers. Also the white sheets on the top left corner are my Pharma quick-study notes.MBBS students don't study in college. We just attend college for attendance, just like engineering and commerce students.Almost 95% students pass their exams because they study, even if they start studying 2 weeks before the exams.Some of us don't study even in our rooms and they bunk classes a lot and those are the ones most likely to fail.I scored about 65% in my first Proff exams.My friend sarcastically told me to fill the NEET PG form when I answered most of the Patho MCQ questions correctly today.(I chose the ‘d' option for an answer while most of the students said ‘c', well ‘d' was correct. Made me feel happy about bunking those classes and studying Atherosclerosis in the library.)Now I attend all the classes because I am sure I'll be detained if I don't get my attendance at least upto 70-75%.P.S.- My Forensic Medicine attendance is 30%.My Patho attendance is 40%.So I need to work on that. :)

We have family events all the time. This is an exciting opportunity for you. Go for it!" instead of: "How could you miss Uncle's 65th birthday?!"Model your idealized parent by imbuing them with qualities of and aspects of people you know and admire, people like friends, professors and teachers who really see you and love you unconditionally.To know how to respond at any time, imagine that you are the ideal child of idealized parents. Respond to your parents and family as if you are that child -- and as if they are the embodiment of your ideal.Your goal is to be able to look in the mirror and know you have been a dutiful child -- as you define it. You treat your family as if they are wonderful while also keeping your distance and protecting your new identity.Over time they will begin to see you as you see yourself. Everyone will.I have personally loved every moment shared with obsessive academics who shaped my life and helped me to hone my mind and my writing skills. I can think of no higher calling than to shake free of an unwanted past, like a wet dog, and let the drops fall away -- we all deserve the life we want, and can create.
