What are some real life examples, good or bad, of karma?

When Karma strikes, you wash Demand Draft (DD) worth ‘Rs 31 Lakhs’ in washing machineBackstoryWe were in the process of selling our old home and buying a new one. We were waiting to receive the amount from our buyer (B) so that we can make the payment for the new house. However, there was some bank issues with the person buying our old home and there was a delay in the payment. We were patient with him and waited for his problems to be solved. But the seller (S) from whom we were buying the house was very adamant on receiving the payment within a week of deal finalization. We tried reasoning with him and told him about the problem B is facing. However, he was adamant and not co-operative at all. He said he will charge an ‘interest’ of INR 50,000 for the delay in payment.By the time payment from B got cleared, it was a delay of 2 weeks. We thought it’s not possible to reason with S and hence we were ready to pay the interest. The total interest was coming down to 23,000 and we offered S the same. But he would not agree. After a lot of argument, we ended up paying him Rs 50,000 along with DD worth 31 Lakhs to clear the remaining payment. While leaving my husband said “Jo paise aapki hak ke nahi hote, wo kabhi hazam bhi nahi hote. Bhagwaan dekh raha hai” (The money you don’t own by right never works out for you. God is watching.)Next day morning we received a call from his wife and guess what, he put his shirt along with the DD and the interest cheque for 50,000 in the automatic washing machine.Since the flat was already transferred to our name and the amount was deducted from our account, he was in DEEP MESS.He called, apologized and offered to return the Rs 50,000, if only we can re-issue the DD to him. We re-issued both the DD and the interest cheque :-) .Thank you, KARMA :-)

What are some examples of great marketing?

I’d be surprised if no one’s mentioned this one but there are 100’s of answers and I can’t scroll through all of them…De Beers and Engagement RingsThis could well be fake. Give me a break, it was a free image bank. Now, I’m not saying I endorse De Beers, and their massive influence on the diamond industry (with all the bloodshed that this has led to). It’s undeniable that their marketing has been successful though. After all, they’ve managed to make a multi-billion dollar industry out of a “precious” stone that really shouldn’t be that valuable. (I mean, it’s worth 50% less the moment you walk out the door!)You’ve all heard the phrase A Diamond Is Forever. Where did it come from though? It’s from ad agency N.W. Ayer, who worked with De Beers in the mid twentieth century. After doing some market research, N.W. Ayer found that Americans believed diamonds were a luxury for the super rich.Diamonds didn’t have much inherent value, so they had to create a reason for people to buy them. Something emotional. And what’s more emotional than love and marriage?According to the New York Times, N.W. Ayer's game plan was to "create a situation where almost every person pledging marriage feels compelled to acquire a diamond engagement ring."Before WW2, only 10% of engagement rings contained diamonds. N.W Ayer set out to transform public opinion and establish the diamond as an essential part of any proposal. They used celebrity endorsements, as well as all the other obvious channels like newspapers and radio. They weren’t directly pushing De Beers though, they were simply trying to create content that promoted diamonds themselves. After just 4 years (1938–41) there was a 55% increase in US diamond sales. This was just the start though - in 1948 came the famous slogan A Diamond Is Forever. It was coined by Frances Gerety, and was voted the number 1 slogan of the 20th century by AdAge in 1999. The line became synonymous with De Beers and helped establish diamond rings as the norm for engagements.Initially the rule of thumb was that a ring should cost a month’s salary. By the 1980’s De Beers figured they needed a rebrand to 2 months’ salary.Mr Smith saw the future and had heart palpitationsSo yeah, De Beers and N.W Ayer are responsible for making something with very little intrinsic value cost 2 months’ worth of your paychecks! So, if you’re planning to propose maybe you should explain to your partner how the diamond industry is a scam and opt for a nice wooden ring or something.I take no responsibility if you don’t survive!

The costumer service was horrible! I couldn't get a refund even though the product (filmora) didn't work and I couldn't get it to work. When I wrote to costumer service they initially answered, but now they don't answer anymore. It is a very rude way to treat costumers, and I am sorry that I ever bought their product.
