It’s common for women to write out a birth plan and have a copy for when you go in to labor and delivery and are for sure in labor etc.I had one written and made 3 copies. One for my OB, one to bring in with me when I went into L&D for nurses, and then one that I keep in case they do something as to the opposite that way when I point it out they can’t say ‘well you didn’t tell me’, I have my proof. You can find birth plan templates online that help guid you on what to write etc.In my birth plan I stated I wanted skin to skin as soon as she was born as it’s an important step in helping bond with breastfeeding and such. So when my baby came out they automatically put her on my chest/stomach area. Then while she was on my chest they wiped the blood off her. I did my skin to skin and soon after she stopped crying my fiancé cut the cord and then they weighed her, measured her and gave her a little rinse down and got her dressed. Then they gave her back to me. I chose to not have her placed in the nursery so she was pretty much always with me in the hospital. It was hard for me handing her over to others to see and/or hold. Even handing her off to my man I was watching like a hawk. HahaAll in all because I wrote out a birth plan etc. I never had to ask for anything when it was regarding the baby. I only asked for stuff really while I was laboring. Like ice, cold washcloth, bucket to quickly throw up 😂 that sorta stuff.

Welcome to the club :)My husband and I had no relatives to help out either back when I was expecting and then when I delivered the baby.In one phrase - you will survive, and you will be fine.Pregnancy is not a predictable event, so you can have a smooth ride, or you can have a bumpy ride (no pun intended.. well, a little intended) - so it can either be a non-event or just 9 months of pure exhaustion.Delivery is more of same - unpredictable, and highly emotional event. You can't prepare to it. Free Birth Plan Template | BellyBellyIn terms of finances, hope your family can survive on $1k less per month per child (cost of childcare and supplies, since you have indicated an intention to continue working post-delivery).In terms of work-life balance, it's a myth.And no one can prepare you for what's to come - in a nutshell, it's 2 years of sleepless nights while you are expected to be a fully functioning and contributing member of a society during the daytime.Be prepared that the first word out of your future child(ren - you could have multiples) is "Dada", even after all those sleepless nights and every-2-hr nursing schedule.I would urge you not to create a registry with the help of those "store consultants" and only get essentials (bare essentials) at least at first, so no, you won't need 20 outfits and 15 pacifiers and a wipe warmer and a humidifier, just a crib, some onesies, diapers, and ointment.And no crib bumpers - they can cause SIDS (yes, read up on that).Short of this, you and your spouse would have to become a team to shuttle the little bundle of joy between places and arrange for schedules to be adjusted - if your daycare says that pick up is at 6pm, it's 6pm sharp (and if a parent does not come, then the daycare is obligated to call child protective services, yes, it's bad and people can go to jail if they are suspected of neglecting/abandoning a child).So, when the time comes to pick up the child, your boss needs to know that you HAVE to leave - you put everything down and leave. And if it's a problem, you need to think about a potential change in a company or a career or a department - HR calls having a child (by birth or through adoption) as a life changing event, and it is a truly life changing event.

Kendra. Honest answer, please. Do you find writing difficult? A lot of would-be writers do. Even good writers can come to grief once in a while, or maybe more than once.I’m not a great one for rigid planning, spreadsheets or whatever. I’m happier living with the idea until I can feel where it’s going - and that’s when to begin.I do sympathise, but simply blaming it on writer’s block (or writers’ block, which is probably more accurate) can have the unwanted effect of locking you in.I think this is more a question of getting worried when the going gets hard and of not relishing the idea of struggling on. But whoever gave you the idea that writing was anything other than a pain? You’re giving birth to a piece of creative art.We’re all different, I know, but I think perseverence is even more crucial than planning. You need to be a psychologist too. There comes a point where being inside your own head is no help at all. You have to be inside the head (heads) of your principal protagonists and see through their eyes. Easy? Don’t believe a word of it.
