One can definitely have severe BPD without self-harm.Self-harm is also a lot broader than just directly physically injuring yourself. Self-harm can be doing things like taking too many meds, deliberately going without food (or trying to make it easier for you to go without food), drinking when you feel like it’s a bad idea for you, saying awful things to strangers online to get them to lash out at you.
