It’s short and sweet. And it puts up front your qualifications and the benefits they are looking for that you offer as their freelancer.I’ve read, though I don’t know for sure, that the cover letter is at the bottom of what the potential client sees, so don’t make their eyeballs bleed by offering too much information. What they want to know is what you can do for them. Answer that question and you are on the way to getting that job.Good luck.

I hate to say this to you, Marium, but I do not encourage anyone to attempt to earn through content-stuffing sites, for two reasons: [1] It is very hard to get through the massive number of bids from people who are totally unqualified for the gigs they’re trying for; hirers tend, it seems, to hire the least (or close to the least) expensive person rather than the best — meaning, wages are held down to a very low common denominator; [2] Most of the content produced through these content-stuffing sites — and I call them that because their aim is to stuff the internet even fuller with ‘junk’ content — and the world doesn’t need any more junk, writing of such a low standard and/or quality that it interferes with the pleasure or business-reading of thousands if not millions of individuals.I know that sounds harsh, and I will probably be criticized for expressing these facts. (They are not my opinion; They are facts!) If so, so be it.Don’t try to run before you get in a lot of practice walking: Hone your writing skills to a point you can get paid, as that seems to be your goal, for contributions to blogs, for example. If you think you are good enough, pitch the idea of an online newsletter to a church or civic organization in your community. Offer to create one for a small on-going fee. Help a local business develop a website, and write all the needed content for it, for a reasonable amount of money. Or, in the latter case, pick a company where you could get paid ‘in kind’ — through merchandise or a service they provide. The latter costs them less than a cash outlay, and you still come out ahead.If you insist on chasing your dreams through content mills, one I’d strongly discourage you from bothering with is freelancer.com. Don’t take my word for it: Read a few of their ads, and notice how many bidders are totally unqualified for the gigs at hand. How do I know they’re unqualified? Well, many insist on bidding on jobs that clearly state you must reside in a certain country, for example. In a huge number of other instances, if you read the profiles of the bidders, you will see many who [1] have language skills so poor that no self-respecting employer would consider them, [2] clearly did not read the ad where it insists on certain qualifications (which they don’t have), or [3] is submitting a template response — one written with no regard to any advertiser’s qualifications for the job at hand.The site (freelancer.com, in this instance) doesn’t discourage faulty bids because it earns whether a bidder is successful or not. The site owner, Australian, in this instance, wins every which way, and bidders far too often ‘waste’ bids where there is next to no chance they will be chosen. And anyway, why should they want to be chosen, given the rates of pay to be earned — less than $1 an hour, in many instances.‘Sorry for the wet blanket, but you deserve an honest answer.
