How does requiring photo ID amount to “voter suppression”? Isn’t it important to make sure that only citizens vote, and that they vote only once in each election ?

It depends greatly on the nature of the ID requirements.Indiana’s voter ID law was fairly straightforward- show a free readily obtainable ID, cast a provisional ballot and show ID later, or do mail-in with an affidavit that you were physically unable to get an ID (elderly, shut-ins). This is ok.[1]Texas's voter ID law was very strict- you essentially had to have a driver's license, a concealed carry permit, military ID, or a passport… period. You could get a free ID, but only from a few offices that in some cases were 100 miles away from voters who don't have driver's licenses. You could also complete an affidavit of non-attainability… if you accompanied it with a current utility bill or bank statement. You know who doesn't have these things? According to statistics- its Blacks, indigent elderly, and certain housespouses. All likely to vote Democrat. In other words, by artificially tightening the ID requirements, the seemingly neutral voter ID law was actively targeted[2] to suppress certain portions of the properly eligible voting population. This is not ok.[3]Footnotes[1] Crawford v. What would you do if you were appealing your death row conviction and the court assigned Jussie Smollett as your public defender?

Q: What would you do if you were appealing your death row conviction and the court assigned Jussie Smollett as your public defender?Judge: Alright Mr. Elia, I have reviewed your application for counsel and affidavit of ingdigency, and have determined that you are eligible for a public defender.Me: Thank you, your honor.Judge: There’s normally a fee here, but because you are a current inmate of the Texas Department of Corrections, that few will be waived.Me: Thank you, sir.Judge: Looking at the list here, it appears that Jussie Smollett’s come up as your counsel. Do you have any questions at this time?Me: Jussie Smollett? The actor? Your honor?Judge: Yes. Is that going to be a problem?Me: Well, your honor, he’s an actor, not a lawyer. I don’t know if he even has a college degree. There’s no way he can represent me in a death penalty appeal.Judge: Mr. Elia, it’s part of his plea agreement for filing that false police report, now are you gonna accept this court’s offer of counsel or not?Me: Well, I guess. Is that the best I can get, your honor?Judge: You could probably get better, but you’re gonna have to pay for it. According to your filings, you’re an indigent guest of TDC, so you will accept this or go without.Me: Okay.Judge (to court reporter): Let the record show that the appellant said, “Yes, your honor.” If you have no further questions, this hearing is adjourned.Back at the prison:Scene opens with Mr. Elia in the prison library researching how to file a Motion for Mistrial Based on Ineffective Counsel.

Is it right to consider voter ID laws a form of racist voter suppression, if it isn't considered racist to ask people for ID to open a bank account, buy liquor, or to go in and out of a country?

Interestingly, just today, I was doing some basic research on moving to Texas, which included getting a new driver’s license, re-registering our vehicles and getting on the voter rolls. After looking at all of the regulations, I’m just laughing at the man saying Texas makes it soooo hard. Jeez.Texas has 254 counties. Registering to vote is through the county of which there are 254 of. I’m coming from California with significantly fewer counties (like around 84), so to me, you just throw a rock and you’re in a different county in Texas. And for the most part, the counties are relatively small. The DMV in Texas is all about registering your car, not where you obtain your drivers license. That’s the Department of Public Safety. Go figure why it’s two separate entities. In California, both are through the DMV.The rules to get a DL are straightforward, and even easier to just get an ID card. The first time, yes, you need something to prove you’re who you say you are, and something to prove you have a right to be in the country, either as a citizen or a permanent resident or on a Visa of some sort. And your birth certificate usually proves both. And last, you have to prove Texas residency. A utility bill can prove that. (If you’re getting a DL you’ll need to pass a driving test and a written test, too, of course.)Oh yeah, and you can use expired IDs! Up to four years’ expired if you’re 18–69, and with no time restriction after age 70.You can also show up with your utility bill and vote if you sign an affidavit stating you have a “reasonable impediment” for why you don’t have a photo ID. If you’re disabled you can get a permanent exemption to all of these rules, and if you just show up with no ID and nothing else . . , you can vote provisionally. You do have to show up at the county registrar within six days to get something together, but you can vote on Election Day.So I don’t buy that voter ID laws are onerous in, at least, Texas. Oh yes, I should mention, that fees get waived if you claim you’re indigent.Besides the low expectations issue, voter ID laws are just good sense. There’s no way to call them a poll tax when you can get an ID for free, and there are a bunch of ways you can vote no matter what.As to needing ID for more things than you can shake a stick at these days, that’s another issue, but with identity theft and the Patriot Act, you mostly have your answer.

For me it is a different software from other design, editing and document converter software because it goes much further, it allows us to edit each document or several at the same time to the type of file we want and vice versa to pdf in this way we can edit the files now Either due to some error or wrong information, for example invoice, name, this is why I love Cocodoc because it is very practical, it is only to upload the file that we can download immediately, security is an important point since its presence is notorious.
